Both places are completely different. You have money to throw, anywhere is good. Japan has many many good entertainment places but the cost is very high. Money is king!!

Heading down to Haikou for golf and recreation and tried to do some research on overall entertainment scene. However after trawling through the site, was surprise that even though we now have direct flight there, there are no recent updates on Haikou.

Will appreciate any useful tips which bros may give on the above.

i spend a lot of my time in Haikou, so i guess i better do some national service here and help some bros here so that they can maximize their time and money when in haikou.

hainan is infamous for being a chiongster island, but also sad to say, you get a lot of people trying to rip u off too (though this the same everywhere). So, i will share with you the general price guide and if you need more info, u can send me a message or maybe even meet there.

How to get there?
Tiger flies there everyday, the best period is beween March and May, and Jul and Oct, coz the tickets are cheaper during these period. unsually, i advise my frineds to come haikou viz tiger then fly to SZ (cost abt RMB400) then fly back via Macau.

Airport to hotel
This the trick u learn from someone who has travel too much. Never take the cab from the arrival hall, go up to the departure hall, the taxi who has just drop pple will be willing to take u back to the city for much cheaper. For eg, the taxi uncles will try to charge u RMB100 to go back to the city at the arrival hall, but go up to the departure and u can get it for RMB30.

Hotel
Hotel is cheap in haikou. usually, a good clean one i can get at abt RMB150, abit more class one, abt RMB250. u can try, but i am not sure if u will be able to get such rate.

Food
Food is also cheap. normal rest, you should have a good meal below RMB100. seafood is more ex thou and not really terrific. i recommend 湖南人at 金龙路 and 吴梅烧腊 at 国贸, if you are not too advanterous. at night u can go to the 烧烤摊, one of my fav is the bbq oyster which goes for like 10 oyster for RMB10.

Entertainment
The best pubs are 66吧 and alan story (阿伦故事), both at 国贸. you can get lucky at this 2 places, though i think the beer is overpriced at abt RMB20/bottle.

KTV
there's a range, slgihtly above average cost abt 700-800 for a mid size room. tip for girls is a 200-300, mummy abt e same, waitress 100. overnight 1000-1200. the higher class one is about 1000 for the room, the over nite cost abt 1500 to 3000 (model)

Salon
but if u r living on a budget, i recommend the salon, 150 for 1 time and 450 for over nite (can bargain to 300). there's one at 华侨新村.

All in all, hainan is the budget chiongster island, esp in haikou and qiong hai, provided u know where to go. hope this general guide will help u bros enjoy yr time more in hainan!

Have signed on for a package which will cover our golf and accommodation. Note however that unlike southern china where common ktv rates for girls are 2/5/8, rates in Haikou are somewhat higher. I supposed this may be a matter of supply/demand--probably a lot more supply in the more popular southern china cities.

Will try out perhaps a couple of your recommended spots.

Foot Massage
It is really cheap in Haikou. You can get 60 mins for just RMB15! and it's not the lousy type. There are also high end ones tat cost upto RMB100, but i think its not worth it given the kind of service you can get for RMB15. you can check out 香港之春 at 国贸 just behind the popular 66吧 pub.

for those heading to 琼海，you can get food massage starting from RMB10!

Body Massage
There's a one good one at 新标榜 at 国贸 also. its more high end kind, and cost about RMB200. but you get 2 girls, one massaging your head and the other your body. it was quite havenly and that from someone who didn't really like message.

you can get HJ at the earlier massage palour i mentioned for abt RMB100. but the best value is yet again at 琼海, there you can go for normal message at RMB30 and you can touch her and ask her to do HJ without any extras!

Hot Spring
there's no macau-styled spa in haikou, no one would dare go, coz according to them its so dirty. but u get natural hot spring all around the island, and the better ones comes with fish that feeds on yr dead skin.

Golf
I don't play golf, but the best i have seen is in 薄鳌，near 琼海. there's where leaders all over the Asia converge for a meeting every year to talk and play golf.

Unless you really like beaches and sea sports, then goto sanya, the nite activities is nowhere near haikou and sanya and its more expensive and more likely to kanna rip off, coz there are more international tourists there.

last of all, just a word of advice, dun try the services at the hotels, the girls will come, take off their clothes and demand for a few thousand dollars sometime even with a few ah beng showing up. try the KTV or the hair salon, its not worth the convenience.

Bro Botarbolampar, if you are serious about golf, try to avoid July and Aug, temp can reach over 40 deg during these times! best time to go is Nov, Dec, Mar and Apr, when weather is pretty cooling.

Bro Asianstarboy, for your benefits, i put in Han Yu Ping Ying for the hotel names. it may be harder to get around if you can't speak Chinese, so either ask someone along who does, or go during the first 2 weeks of June.

It's better to stay near Guo Mao, 国贸, because that's where most of the action is. for budget hotel you can try Hong Kong City, 香港城, the KTV i mentioned before is at the 4th storey. You can get a room through mummy Xiao Ling, 萧琳, because she has company rate there, at abt RMB120.

Another budget place to stay is at Xin Biao Bang, 新标榜, or Guo Yuan, 国苑, which is just opposite. 新标榜 is also where you can get good massage. it cost abt RMB150/nite.

For slightly higher-end, you can try Wan Li Long, 万俐隆. i have a corp contract with them, so i can get rooms at abt RMB250. I love it here, becuase its new, rooms are much superior and the sea-view rooms, 海景房, come with bathrooms with glass walls, so you can see yr girl showering when you are in the room.

hi bro ken,

just got back from haikou over the weekend. did not however managed to go to most of the places which you recommended as a HK friend had made tour arrangements.

stayed at the bao hua seaview--reasonable rooms with great view of the park and sea. visited only two ktvs--one at the new shanghai (or something like that)--understand that this was one of the higher end ktvs. not too bad overall though number of SYTs is somewhat lower than what we are used to in places like dongguan or SZ. though the rate for girl accompanying at ktv at 300 was similar to what we pay in dongguan, the overnite rate at 1200 was quite a bit higher. i supposed this is more of a supply-demand issue.

tried to go to a lower end ktv (where the rate was supposed to be 2/4/8) but was shocked by the absolutely horrible options there--friends decided to cut their losses and proceed back to usual ktv.

went to the recommended rub-joint after golf at guo mao--the rub was good (rmb 120 for 2 sessions) and was a welcome relief. on the day of departure wanted to try a fling at one of the saunas but found that the few which were opened had very limited choice of girls in the early afternoon.

wanted to visit the salons just to get a "feel" of things but was discouraged from doing so by the guide--maybe it is just that he does not get any comms from these joints.

in any event, looks like we had more options than we have time for. though did not make much headway on your rexcommendations, nevertheless appreciate very much your efforts to for respond to my previous request for info.

For brothers going to Haikou, forget about their KTV and Nightclub. Usually it is like what brother Ken said very expensive and always declare their girls to be model category to ask for higher price.

Alternatively if you are adventurous enough, go to their shopping malls departmental stores look see look see any pretty girls. Once targeted, approach them and ask them out. 80% of the sales girls in departmental stores sure can go out.

Most of them also work part time in the night in their so call 休闲屋as callgirl too. If you get them from these 休闲屋 , it will cost you RMB500 for overnight. But if you hook them yourself, you may get RMB200-300 overnight, which is also what they get from the mamasan. But you need to compensate them on their fine for not turning up to work, usually about RMB30 per day. Then u not only get overnight girl, but also a tour and service guide.. kekekke

More adventurous, go to the Hainan University. Outside the university got a lot of nice eating stalls. Go in the night and u can see a lot of Uni girls makaning they. Approach them and u may get a surprise too. Not too bad an offer for uni girls for only RMB500-800 overnight.
