Re: Speaking the language, knowing the culture...
Bro, speaking japanese is essential in picking up japanese gals. Japanese feel that they r the cream of Asians so u dun stand a chance by not speaking their language in general.
Maybe they interact too much our soldiers so their opinion of soldiers have gone from bad to worse over the years.

Re: Speaking the language, knowing the culture...
It is tougher for Chinese to pick up Japanese chicks, it seems they have a preconceived notion that Blacks or even Malays are better. But there are still some who are very successful with Japs

Re: Speaking the language, knowing the culture...
Yes Bro, it is definitely the case. Especially if you are not very proficient in the language.
Girls in taiwan and japan find me 'cute' 'coz I made mistakes when I tried to talk in their language. |

My fren bought a VIP table in a Tokyo club and open a few bottles of champange...It seems to broke all language barriers as the Jap gals flocked to him LOL. $ does seem like the universal language.

I agree... i got to know a number of japanese girls at campus (summer exchange students), outside shaw lido (those school girls like to hang out at the macdonalds there), and those come here on tours ( im parttime freelance tour guide, got license one!), because i speak japanese fluently..... (helps abit if have some jap heritage like me too). They are usually very shy, esp the students, but will open up if can communicate with them in their language (also helps when i tell them that i am currently an undergrad, they totally dig guys who can study, yet have a fashion sense) But bonked only a couple so far, most of them, unlike what u guys see on av, they are NOT open, and very demure (they just like to dress crazily following the latest fashion trends back home....not only the students, those aunties i get in my tour groups also the same!), so please try to be polite to them, and do not make a pass at them. p.s dun ask me for their numbers... go learn jap and make friend yourself! how would u like it if somebody ask another person for your sister's or good female friends contact. currently trying hard to learn korean... cos alot influx of koreans in sg these days ^^ (although the korean ladies at my campus have totally outlandish fashion sense! one my my lecturemates even have those explosive hairstyle omg!!!!) thank you |

I was shocked when I was bringing her outta the disco (to my apartment), cos I was intending 2 take taxi, while she dragged me 2 her car, a BMW! In my apartment, we were initially communicating like chicken & duck. Lucky I had a English-Thai dictionary, which I was flipping whenever she wanted 2 tell me something, and vice versa. But the dictionary is not comprehensive enough. I only knew she's some kinda sales executive. She even called me 2 days after our ONS, showing some concerns, etc. But I had to let her go, cos she "injured" me rather badly, ie, in bed, she scratched my back so hard, it's like digging her nails into me & then tearing my skin off. Indeed, my skin came off & bled, it's painful when I bathe during the next few days, the superficial injuries heeled only about 1 week later. I oso needed to travel away for a short trip (1 week), and then my Korean gf was oso coming back, so can't go further wif her, had 2 let her go.

Re: Speaking the language, knowing the culture...
Speaking from a perspective of someone taking up vietnamese to better communicate with my viet gf, knowing the language does help.
However, initially she suspected me of being "super cheongster" of always targeting vietnamese girls, and she was just another one of my targets. But then after that I brought her to meet my vietnamese lesson classmates and she felt so embarassed... My personal take is, that i think it's best when your girl and yourself knows some of each other's main tongue, but not so fluent as to suspect why. She knows little english, some mandarin, speaks vietnamese fluently. I know little vietnamese, some mandarin, speaks english fluently. We meet each other halfway. One additional benefit is that when my wife sees my SMSes to my GF she won't be able to decipher a thing, hehe.
