not to worry the change is not permanent and everything is still in english, you can always reverse the steps to revert to english. i suggest you try bro fanren07's method, if it doesn't work then you can try mine.

Same here. The last time I installed new media player the whole system gets messed up and I have to spend hours restoring the setting. Since then I try not to install software which I am not too familiar with.

Base on what you mentioned, you might have change the format to Chinese.
What we actually want to change and configure is the keyboard to input Chinese text. So target only changes to the keyboard and NOT format in the Regional and Language Options.

Yes, can be frustrating But then again, the rewards are great if you get it right. Somehow messaging in Chinese, be it phone sms or Instant Messaging with China Mei Mei or gf who knows Chinese is different. You get closer and personal. Bros who have done that would know what I mean
Another plus point is that your message is unlikely to be read/translated by a third party. I am sure bros here have been asked before by China or Vietnamese Mei Mei to translate English messages for them.
I bought a laptop with English Vista Home Premium OS for my PRC gf.
But her England is zero, so I need to change the OS platform to Chinese.
Can anyone advise the simplest and cheapest way to convert the OS platform to Chinese ?

Would like to share with bros who uses IM client like MSN, Yahoo, QQ, etc. that there is a multi-protocol IM client call Pidgin that can work with MSN, Yahoo, QQ and more.
You don't need to download and install separate IM clients. Useful for bros who wants to communicate with their mei mei in China as you don't need to download and install QQ IM client.
There is another software similiar to Pidgin call Miranda. Unlike Pidgin, you need a plugin in order to work with QQ. You can download it from Miranda IM - Download. QQ plugin can be downloaded from Addons - Miranda IM. Look for MirandaQQ2 0.2.0.52.
For bros who have difficulty or no time to download, I have a CD (with Pidgin, Open Office, games and other softwares) available. Unlike the free download above, there is a small fee charge for the CD

I had the same problem as yours then I went to the "Regional and language options" (in control panel), clicked the "Advanced" tab and chosen the "Chinese (PRC)" under "Language for non-Unicode programs". After I have not problem. In fact, I am currently using 2008 version of QQ to chat with my China gal...

Then it works for me. Hope it solves your problem too... By the way I am using 2008 version of QQ, I think it's better. Can use webcam, thus can see each other...
