Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Liverpool
✅ W20 D1, best ever record after 21 games in a season in any of Europe’s big 5 leagues ✅ Scored in club record 30 successive league games (passing 29 in Div 2, 1957-58) ✅ 6th successive PL clean sheet - club’s best run since under Rafa Benitez in 2006 Stats: Relentless Reds' record-breaking run Liverpool have won 61 points in the Premier League in 2019-20 - the most any side has ever registered after 21 games in a single season across Europe's big five leagues (assuming 3pts/win). Liverpool have accrued 104 points across their last 38 Premier League matches (W33 D5 L0); this is a record total by any team across a 38-match spell in the competition's history, overtaking 102-point stretches by Man City (ending in 2018) and Chelsea (2005). This is Liverpool's joint-best scoring run from the start of a season in English top-flight history, with the Reds also scoring in their opening 21 games in 1933-34. Liverpool have now gone 38 Premier League games without defeat (W33 D5); since their last league loss at Man City in January 2019, Tottenham have lost 16 Premier League matches by comparison, including three to the Reds. Liverpool have kept six consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since December 2006 (seven). Liverpool have become the 3rd side to score in 30+ successive PL matches: 55 Arsenal (May 2001 - Nov 2002) 36 Man Utd (Dec 2007 - Nov 2008) 30 Liverpool (Mar 2019 to date)

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
As I said previously the front 3 are tired and the Spurs game made them even worn out.
I hope this will not impact the team and some players need more rest. Mane was unable to push forward when he ran back to defend and it is clear his legs are almost finished. At the full time whistle watching Firmino was so sad as he was totally out of steam. Feel proud of us for keeping the clean against a good Spurs team and pushing to get the 3 points.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I think this team is the best we have ever had. 20 wins and 1 draw from 21 matches have never been achieved before. Still a bit naive at times though.
The last 15 mins is really quite frustrating. Instead of running the clock down by keeping possession, inviting Spurs to come attack us and leave gaps at their rear, we basically trade punches with them. Klopp was shouting like a mad man at times. Even when Shaquiri came on and it was probably the 93rd min, he chose to cross the ball instead of running to the corner flag to waste time. We just have to be more street-smart or a better team like Athletico Madrid will punish us.

He will only akcknowledge winning the title when the points total become mathematically impossible to overtake Liverpool. Until that happens, every match is like a Cup Final for him. At least he still has his feet on the ground. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
After last night's thrashing of Villa, Peter Schmeichel thinks City will now win all their remaining games to reach 95points. He thinks those points are enough for City to retain the EPL since United won the title with 75points before.
He talked about March being difficult for Liverpool. Tiredness, Klopp's training methods and our high pressing game. Note, City still have to play: Spurs(a), United(a), Chelsea (a) Arsenal (h), Leicester (a). Also throw in teams like Sheffield (a) as well. All I need say to Peter is this...We shall see...Klopp is not getting distracted by anything and is going to continue to take it one game at a time...that and continue to remind his boys that we lost out on the title last season by just one point(97 points) after losing only a single match. |

Even MU prodigal son Gary Neville admitted nothing will go wrong for Liverpool now. Of course, Klopp said only the trophy interest him and not any words or records. To me, I counted that Liverpool needed to win 12 out of 17 games to secure the trophy unless MC and Leicester drop more points.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Apparently Owen Hargreaves was on the same show and just looked at him bemused when Schmeichel made those incredulous comments. Oh and I forgot to include our return match against City at the Etihad.
Anyway, looks like everyone and their uncle(except Schmeichel Senior & Junior & the likes of Kompany) have come around to the fact that this amazing run we're on in this season (and which extends to now over a year) is historic and could still turn out to be the all time best run of any team if we continue at this rate till the end of the season and beyond. But ... not to take anything away from how focused and good the whole team (staff included) have been, one thing that has helped us a lot over the course of this season is how the wheels have come off the other "big six". City have had their poorest form in at least the last 3-4 years. Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs have all had implosions. And United are on a steady fall to mediocrity. So how that's helped us is that it has taken the pressure away of having one or two teams breathing down your neck for most of the first half of the season. Now this could have been a big negative because complacency and overconfidence could have easily set in and caused us to slip up. And that's where I think the real strength of this team is. Klopp, the senior players and for that matter the whole squad are constantly pushing each other to do better and raise their game even more, and so far nobody seems to be getting cocky or confident and complacent. If they do, they are getting a proper yelling at on the pitch regardless of if we're winning or not. That I think is the real strength of this team and what makes me most confident that this is the REAL DEAL and that our wait will be over come the end of the season. BELIEVE, the Journey continues, enjoy the ride. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
One step at a time. The team is more matured compared to last year. I believed the team have a "never give up" attitude which is amazing to watch. From First team to the under 23s, everyone has the same type of mentality.
