I am using Windows XP Professional Version and steps are as follows :

1) Power on your computer;

When you wanted to type Chinese Characters, simply press [alt][shift] and the input box will be displayed. Type in the 汉语拼音for desired character and pressing the [pg up] and [pg down] button for more characters.
