Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
[QUOTE=mmhunter;2464642]I have asked myself:
Why do the minority races in Malaysia continue to live and stay in a country that discriminates against them, treats them as second class citizens, is not efficiently run, has a relatively higher crime-rate, provides jobs that do not pay as well, etc.? The list goes on and on and on and on... Actually the Chinese population in malaysia went down from 45% to 26% and now in ten years time its gota be 10%. Malaysian Chinese do not have malay names ( like those chinese in indonesia ) due to its link with Singapore which sorta neutralise the threat from Malaysian useless government who talk big. Chinese who invest in Malaysia will see their properties burnt in ten years time when the minorities become 10%. already, our indian friends are detained under ISA indefinitely for asking for EQUAL rights up north, not "special" rights mind u.

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
I am happy here.
Sure I am earning much less than what I used to earn in Singapore but that's ok. Every month can afford to go to KTV (once) and HC (twice) good enough lah. My car is a rusty Proton car with power windows that need to be manually assisted. Good enough lah. Drive so nice car for what? People steal. (Malaysia crime rate is high what.) My government talk a lot of cock. Nevermind lah. Let them talk. Come GE I sure won't vote for them. So, I happy. You not happy, do something lah. Don't just whine and bitch on the Internet. Or like our MP said, you tak suka, you keluar. PS. Please stop running down my country. No matter what it is still my country. It is for Malaysians to deal with. Thank you. |

FYI, a lot of S'poreans also migrate tp other countries like Australia, NZ, UK, Canada, USA, etc,......... In fact, given a choice at least 25% to 50% of the S'poreans would migrate but can't because they don't have the qualifications and skills needed by these "Western" countries |

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
Nowadays globalization mah. People go elsewhere; some go because they don't like the crap in Malaysia. But I think quite a lot of people go because of career related reasons.
Like the other day, the newspapers reported that nurses are heading to the Middle East coz their pay can go up to RM10,000+ a month compared to the RM2,000+ they can get here. Even our local working ladies, some are working in Europe. Euro so strong mah. |

Politics is never a perfect science, you either love it [when it goes your way] or hate it [when it did not]. It is also very dirty Anyway, this posting is made to cast a different perspective to anyone who holds incorrect notions on differentiations amongst racial, religious and cultural issues. (1) First of all, Indonesian Chinese do not have "Malay" names [at least by 90% of them not havng the names] in the real sense of the word. When the Indonesian Communist Party [PKI] failed in their 1965 coup, the victorious Indonesian govenment under Suharto, had "exported" millions of Chinese [some were born in Indonesia] to PRC [hehehe, not the type of PRC we know of] but some Chinese remained or left behind in Indonesia. Those who remained in Indonesia had to be coerced to change their identities [to rid them of any Chinese influence] and one of the moves was to ban the use of Chinese sounding names [the Chinese language had been banned for nearly 40 years]. So, many Chinese had to adopt non-Chinese sounding names. The best type of names available were those Javanese names which do not denote any religious linkages [sort of being neutral], like Hadianto, Rudy Hartono, Sujipto, Kartono that do not indicate their religious backgrounds. Many Indonesians are Christains [especially the Bataks] and many are Muslims and many are Hindus [in Bali] too, yet when the Javanese names are used, there is no way you can be sure what religions they profess. The Indonesian Chinese like to adopt near-Chinese sounding "Indonesian" names, like Halim and Salim [sounds Muslim, for those who are Lim's] and the popular Chandra [sounds Hindu, is for those Chan's] and Hartanto [for those Tan's] and Itchibuto for those cheongsters. Even they are non-Muslims, taking a name Halim and Salim do not have any implication of such. Many Chinese take first names like Juliana [Dutch originated name], Rudy, Christian, Tomy that are neither Muslim or Malay names. They are just not Chinese names too...[except for Lim Swie King being an exception] (2) The Malay names that we know of now, are fully Muslim names adapted from the Arabs. Way back in history, we did come across Malays that had names derived from nature, like Tun Perak and Hang Tuah [and his gang of Hang Jebat, Hang Kasturi..] eventhough they were Melayu and Muslims. In the 1970's many Malays adopted simple Muslim names [or names derived from Arab heroes] like Ali, Yusof, Ahmad, Fatimah [and even simple Malay names such as Jumaat, Khamis, Bujang, Baba, Dol, Mat and even Toyol] but the trend is different now, you may find heavily Arabic accented names [Faizurral, Al-Naim, Abdul Haqq], There are some special addenda added to Malay names: Wan, Nik, Syed / Sharifah (for male and female, espectively) Meor, Megat / Puteri (for male and female, respectively), Abang / Dayang (popular in Sarawak, for male and female, respectively) (3) Basically, Indonesian Chinese DO NOT adopt Malay names. Please correct your understanding on this. Indonesian Chinese are forced to adopt Javanese names via the nationalization effort. Malaysian Chinese [actually it should be Chinese Malaysians] are not forced to adopt Malay names, as there was no concerted nationalization initiative taken. The bumi status applies to Malays [those who have Malay blood; of Arab descent and practise Malay customs and speak Malay and must be a Muslim] However, during the last decade legislations had conferred the bumi status upon Orang Asli, Portuguese descendants, Dayak, Kadazan Dusun, etc [many are non-Muslims]. Chinese and Indians are excluded [even if they are Muslims]. So if SOH HAI CHAI were to embrace Islam, and even changed his name to Suhaimi Soh bin Abdullah, he remains a non-Malay and not a bumi in every sense.

[1] Muslim Chinese marries another Muslim Chinese> children have no Malay blood, so they remains as Chinese [only embracing Islam as their religion] [2] Muslim Indian marries another Muslim Indian > same as above The classification of "bumiputras" was done along racial lines, and since 100% Malays are Muslims, we tend to associate Islam as a Malay religion [in fact many Malays do have such wrong notion, by which they used to say..Eh, professor, masuk lah Melayu...Don't they know that Muslim Hans [Chinese] in PRC alone outnumbered Muslim Malays in this world, but the sitiation is different in Malaysia as they are considered caretakers of Islam in Malaysia. In fact some Malay practices are un-Islamic [such as the bersanding ceremony]...but nobody bothers.
