Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Exactly.

But what I would like to know to know is HOW and WHY did the VAR make this wrong assumption? On what basis?

Thanks for reply though bro

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

MC lost to Arsenal 1-0.

So 1 point gain or 2 points loss.

Watched the Brighton vs Liverpool highlights both sides could hv won or lost. So draw is fair results.

Arsenal played well to beat MC.

if this continue in the season meaning any team with 80 to 85 points can win the title.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

I think that this game probably shows us where we are: we are a team that will need to fight to get in the top four.

Which is probably what we expected before the season started. But the early games helped us think we were ahead of schedule but I'm not sure we are. We have alot to do.

As for the game itself, a draw is probably a fair result, disappointing from being in a winning position though.

Such a shame about the Gravenberch miss. We score that we win comfortably. That said, Gravenberch should have started the game. Last week's game robbed us of options from the bench.

That first goal we conceded though, was just a comedy of errors.....it was like watching Virgil doing his best impression of Harry Maguire, Mac Allister doing his best impression of current Casemiro, and Alisson doing his best impression of Onana

And as for our second goal conceded, dont get me started on Robertson!

I am now also very concerned when Salah heads off for Afcon early next year. He seems to be in top form at the moment and it would be a shame to loose him for one month at such a vital part of the season

Oh yeah, must say i am impressed by De Zerbi. Perhaps one to keep in mind when Klopp finally says goodbye to Anfield.

Yes, Bro,
Just like the players in Brighton, De Zerbi will be snapped up by a top team soon...
Hopefully not Man U.

I just don't understand the need for all these play from the back, they pass the ball to and fro and let the opponent close in on them...they should just stick to the good old days where the keeper just whack the ball up....i believe this is not the first time The Red lost possession of the ball from such situation...

Bro,
Using the goalie as an extra in-field player gives the team an advantage.
If goalie just kicks up, it is 50-50 who gets the ball. That is why last time, centre-forwards always big, so got chance to fight for the ball but still 50-50.

From a tactical perspective, the modern goalkeeper is crucial in creating overloads in the team’s own half. Given the opposition goalkeeper will not push up to mark an attacker, the in-possession team will be able to guarantee numerical superiority in their own half – an 11v10 – if they use their goalkeeper to build play.

That is why so many teams do it now.

I think first started by Pep in Barcelona.

Cheers

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Think bro WJ explained the rationale extremely well (see above post)

That said i well agree with you when it comes to this current Liverpool team making the play.

Had my heart in my mouth quite often during the Brighton game when we played out from the back. Unnecessary danger at times.

Think Klopp really needs to make sure our lads are well and truly up for this.

I agreed the gk acts as a additional player in the field but i also feel the players themselves must be comfortable with such a system...we had seen not once but a few times the players getting dispossess and result in a silly goal to give away..but some times i see Alisson passes to a player already tightly closed down by the opponents putting unnecessary pressure on the player themselves....the Brighton match, i knew some how they going to score a goal sooner or later from such play...

Is just tactics, many times the pressing opponents may expose themselves and players can launch a through pass upwards. Liverpool scored some nice goals playing these tactics.

All about the players and Big Macca is new to No.6 and will need to work harder.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Bro Escobar,

latest from the PGMOL on suggested improvements.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67072868

Personally, I do not see anything said that will prevent what happened in the last 2 weeks.

I have been watching the Rugby World Cup and see two important differences.

a) When using their VAR equivalent
i) their discussion is on air. Everyone hears what is discussed.
ii) The video ref can call the referee and tell him what he missed.. Unlike soccer where video refs have only limited purview.

b) Any questioning /disagreements from the players are not tolerated. Straight warning and if repeated, yellow card.
Only captain can approach the ref.

So true, Bro Melwood.

Allison is one of the best at this and Liverpool has scored and won many games because of him.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

PGMOL chief Howard Webb explains why Chelsea's Malo Gusto was shown a red card after the VAR intervened following a tackle on Lucas Digne and Manchester City's Mateo Kovacic only saw a yellow card for a similar incident against Arsenal.

This is really bs. See the men in centre all out to target Liverpool team.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Tbf it's a new system with a few new players as well.

So give them more time.

But Klopp and his coaching staff together with the squad still need to work harder to get it right.

Btw I still think Alisson is one of the best GKs in the world and has already saved our bacon numerous times this season. That said, he still should not take unnecessary high risks.

Playing out from the back under high press, yes.

But then again must try not to take unnecessary high risks either.

As for Mac Allister, I think he cmi as a #6 . Actually i feel sorry him as he is wasted in that position as his main strong skillset lies further up the field in transition play. It is instructive that he was outstanding last season at Brighton playing together with a real solid #6 Caicedo, whom ironically we almost signed as well.

Back to our #6 problem. Not sure what is going on with Endo? Seems like he might be turning into another Ben Davies and Arthur situation?! If Endo cmi as our #6 then we really need to go all out and get a proper competent #6 during the winter transfer window.

If we don't, it is obvious that we are going to pay a heavy price come end of the season.
