Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

There are many money changers along Fields Ave. The competition is fierce and you can get a good rate, just check the rate online beforehand and check a couple of different shops. I usually change at Norma's just off Fields, where they have a security guy always posted.

I always bring more than enough S$ because ATM's are the biggest pain in the ass there. Just make sure you have you hotel room or front desk safe situation worked out.

Yes of course. But I talk to pinoy friends, they tell me it is resentment due to being colonized and fucked over by Spanish and Americans for so long. Very twisted relationship to foreigners -- they feel that the foreigners have all the money and power, but also that they stole it from them (the Philippino people). Lot of pride and sometimes hate there.

Much better in Thailand -- there they believe that they are the only country in the world, and you are only an insignificant farang ..

I love to answer your question but it would be like forecating the stock market. Rates are quoted different by all 3 locations and not at fixed level of difference. Sometimes it be better to get the best rate from Mustafas or sometimes at Fields.

Based on the import restrictions on pesos as experienced by others, then the advise given by mongerx looks the best option.

Would like to thank Bro Ziebart for his hospitality.
You are really wonderful. Showing us around, explaining to us the so called procedures of cheonging. You are a very patient man Bro Ziebart.
For a newbie like us, your expert advise and explaination is very important.
Thank you Bro Ziebart.
Thanks alan for keeping me company and also the opportunity to share with your friends my local knowledge. Seeing your group enjoying yourselves also bring happiness to me. Hats off to your doing 3 at one go on your first round.

I visited Subic after you left to learn the ropes and had a wonderful time there.

Also just bought 2 return tickets for Sep 09 from 1-9 and 22-28 at $59 each on Cebu Pacific. Brothers who wants this deal must buy now!!

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

IMHO better to change $$ there cos no issues with authorities about bringing pesos into Phil. Rates there are very competitive as well. There are many foreign exchange stores there, so can check around. Plus their overheads (eg rent) are much lower than here so guess they can afford to give better rates...

That's like asking whether anything to do in Singapore. Some say NO, some say plenty to do.

Check out: Subic Bay Portal :: Welcome! and Subic Bay Portal :: Welcome! for general information. puerto for more of what we like.

If we take away the ships mooring in the bay bcos of the economic downturn and do a gotong royong on the beach, then the beach is a 6/10 where Marine Parade Beach is a 7/10 and Kuantan Beach at 9/10.

May I recommend the Sidewalk eatery on the side of Sky Trax. They serve hot ala carte food at very reasonable prices. I got hooked to chop suey(mixed vegetables) in Subic and now am trying to eat more of such food cos I find it delicious and reduces my meat intake.
A big plate of chop suey at 50p(S$1.60) and rice at 8p is recommended. Topsilog or something like char siew rice is also available at 48p including 1 fried egg.
Seating is very limited and patience is needed cos they cook most of your orders as they come. Opens about 6pm till late.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

Hi Guys,

Regarding where to change your money, now I stick to changing them in AC.

The rates so far are much better than what I get in Sg and further more you don't want to give excuse for the immigration officer at the airport to collect more tips from you becos you brought in more than 10,000 pesos.

The money exchange that I always go to is Norma's, which is along Teodoro St off Fields Ave. In SM Mall, inside the main departmental store they have one too. I remember getting a reasonable rate there too.

Hope it helps
