Re: Air Tickets in BKK
Tiger assigns a seat number, when I flew last year.
Free seating not really a problem. Lot of seats available. I think its low season now because there were empty seats when I flew AA last week. Lower prices(under $100) also indicate low demand. Also notice that there are fewer farangs in the BKK & Pattaya(bar joints). Probably because its summer in the N.hemisphere. Quote:

Re: Air Tickets in BKK
Only flew Tiger once so may be wrong about the peanuts. Maybe the drink & peanuts was given on the Thai budget airline 1 to Go or a case of streamlining. Notice that AA has also cut back on the range of gifts you can buy on board.

Re: Air Tickets in BKK
Notice that AA is now called Thai Air Asia, the cabin crew seem to be all Thai. Last year when I flew AA from JB to BKK, the airlines was called AA & the crew were all Malaysians. Suspect crew composition is based on where the flights are operated from.
For SIN to BKK, the planes & cabin crew are probably based in BKK & come down to SIN to pickup passengers. Then probably go back to BKK for the night, to cut costs on using Changi Airport facilities. Haven't seen any hags so far. Very novel seeing a stewardess holding a mop on an airlines. They're probably less stressed than SIA cabin crew as they don't have to serve pre flight drinks, towels or serve everyone a meal as not everyone wants to buy a snack or drink on AA. Quote:

Only time i encountered free drinks and snacks on a budget airliner was when I took Virgin Blue in Australia for a Sydney to Melbourne flight. That was meant as compensation for a 5 hour delay. |

For the domestic flights, its called Thai Air Asia. AirAsia became a venture between Shin Corporation and Air Asia last year. I think Shin Corporation belongs to the Thai PM's family... Quote:
