Brides available for RM320 in Medan — regardless of prospective hubby’s age

MALAYSIAN men are said to be flocking to Medan, Indonesia, to marry illegally for as little as 1mil rupiah (RM320), reported Metro Ahad.

A reporter from the tabloid spent a week there to research the matter and concluded that parents of the brides did not seem to mind if the men were young or old as long as they were willing to pay.

He also found that some of the women cheated on their husbands when the men went back to Malaysia for long stretches.

One of the women, Suryanti Martoso, 28, said she cheated on her husband, a businessman from Kuala Lumpur, because she was lonely.

She said her husband rarely came to visit her in Medan after his first wife found out about the marriage.

Suryanti married the businessman three years ago after meeting him in Penang where she used to work.

“We had a grand wedding which included a cow.

“He never fails to provide the payment of my monthly nafkah but it can get very lonely especially when I move far away from my family,” she said.
