please keep this thread ongoing with current news of situation in bkk esp on our common interests ie how the current coup is affecting the choinging joints and entertainment establishments.

KNN, some of us are the unfortunate souls that are planning to visit bkk over the next week or so now blurr sotong on whether to cancel airtickets or not However, maybe go see the tanks oso quite shiok hor hor and maybi seldom get to see empty streets in bkk hor hor!!

Anyway, wat the heck, it all politics and the upheavel has really spilled out onto the streets now! pity those tan chiak ppl who livelihood depends on tourism but i am sure things will restore to normalcy soon (Hopefully!!)

actually now shd be BEST time to go bkk for chionging ah. Can curi and tarpao one of those MP girls, sure cheep cheep and good service. Then will stay with you for few days bec NO CUSTOMERS and business bad.

I think there isnt any problem coming here. more worry if got lobang during here... the usual party place got any changes... maybe alot of gal decide to stay at hm thinking many tourist leaving....

well, u still not in bkk / thailand yet, if things turn out violent & bloody, at most u lose some $$ on your air fare / hotel reservations only. while brudders who are in bkk / thailand now, their lives are at stake!!!

heehee, but well, I should say, the news reports from int'l sources are exagerrated. at home now, i see surroundings is peaceful. but last nite, while reading the news & posting here, at about 2 am, I heard sounds like gun shots from air gun, 10+ shots fired.

only got many calls this morning, n was eventually told not to go to work (in the old airport, where all commercial flights operate from).

I oso heard tat nite markets like Suan Lum oso closed earlier. Not sure about nite spots though, but wont be surprised. I wont be surprised if nitespots are totally closed 2nite & the subsequent nites, amidst the tension now.

is the airport seized / closed? or flights are still arriving & departing normally?

well, I am not into Thai politics, I am juz an ordinary man who's into working, earning salary & enjoying life.

the news said that Thaksin sacked the Chief of Army (who led the coup), and appointed a new one. if this new COA is pro-TRT or pro-Thaksin, then won't it make the military divided into 2 camps, and then these 2 camps fight?

of course, I hope everything can be resolved peacefully soon, so all businesses can go back to normal asap, and we enjoy life as normal as before!

am now in pattay - nothing seems to have changed - like normal people everywhere - altho at hops n cafes tv does show some reports abt the coup in the city - but otherwise nothing seems to change - except do see bit more activity in some (chinese - ha ha maybe fellow kiasi countrymen) checking out probably earlier due to this. Likely be some jams on the highway to don muang, but dont expect anything drastic.

Go thailand and enjoy holidays can liao. Enjoy the sun, the babes, the food.

It is a bloodless coup and the Army are only against Thaksin. They just want him down. They do not want the people's life.

In the event there is any collision or crossfire, just make sure stay out the way of bullets and bring passport out wherever one goes.(to prove identity of foreigner)
