I did take a train fm GZ main station to HZ city once. It's only 45rmb and the journey is only abt 1hr. I do remember that the train even stop at Chang Ping dong zhan on the way to HZ.... That train final destination is Shan Dao aka Shatow.

HZ train station is less than 10 min by cab fm my hotel beside Xiwu and cost us only 20rmb..... haha.....

But i would said the train was old n not so comfortable....I ll NOT take it if other alternative route.

I think the train has stop operation due to low passenger rate, or just travel to certain area. Presently the train station is used as a place to recruit workers. So evening time you can see a lot of people looking for jobs there.

The train service is still available, but these are trains passing through Huizhou to pickup & dropoff passengers before heading to other destinations such as Qingdao, Xiamen, etc and tickets actually cost less than the bus tickets. However, due to its frequency compared to the bus, I would not recommend it. This is especially if you are arriving at Guangzhou BaiYun Airport because you will need to travel to Guangzhou or Guangzhou East Station to take the train (and therefore wasting another hour and extra cost) while you can travel to Huizhou directly from the airport. Bro Sinoview is correct, all these trains pass through Dongguan East Station (= ChangPing) and indeed, there are plenty of trains from DES/CP to Huizhou (50mins ride) – all enroute to other cities. Again, I would recommend taking the bus due to frequency and only 22Yuan.

Bro Sibaxian, I am actually in Huizhou now with ErZi. We arrived on Christmas Eve from CP to avoid the expected crowd. I called MeiJie around 4pm to try book a KTV room but call was not answered, and so sent a sms. Since I received no response, I called again at 7pm after our dinner, but this time her phone was switched off. We then decided to go down to JinSheShiDai KTV @ JingYe directly – thought we will check it out again since we spent a Christmas eve there two years ago. But it was fully booked. Needless to say, I was not impressed by MeiJie because there is no phone call or sms to even acknowledge till today – not very service orientated and bad attitude as far as I am concerned. I would suggest bros to just call the hotel direct to book the ktv rooms.

We then thought of checking out a new place at LuHui – horror again, the place is fully booked. And I was told that’s probably the case for all the KTVs in Huizhou that evening, since the locals now “celebrate” Christmas. This has never happened in my years of coming to China over the Christmas season. So lesson learnt – better book KTV rooms ahead during Christmas, New Year Eve and perhaps other nights before public holidays due to locals with increasing spending power. WTF – I did a casual and unscientific survey at a ktv last night and no local seem to know what Christmas is all about – not surprising since the authorities do not really encourage church going. I can only presume the entertainment joints have been successful in milking the occasion.

And that’s what we found out when we decided to check out the pubs/bars instead, to try at least get into somewhere for festive cheers. We went to Cookie (QuCi) that has a gweilo-sounding Santa Claus waving passerby in. But we left when we found that they wanted to charge 500Yuan for minimum spending. We did our walkabout in the area, and ended up at 88Bar (BaBa) further up the road since they only charge 100Yuan for minimum spending. It’s not a bad place, with friendly staff and a cute bar tender, and we enjoyed the Christmas “tuo-diao” – I actually took a video of it but cannot access YouTube here.

We expected similar crowd on Christmas Day, being Friday – so, we decided to head up to our old hunting ground in ChenJiang. Enjoyed our usual foot massage (55Yuan for two hours) before decided to check out a new (6months old) KTV joint at Dynasty Hotel. The hardware and sound system are pretty good and the price very reasonable at 288Yuan minimum spending for a small room that easily sit a dozen people. The MM charges are 1-4-7 and 100 for DJ who is wearing an uniform that is not unlike an airline stewardess – it would have been really sexy if they have a higher split. Indeed, with its red color, they almost resemble AirAsia stewardess. I would rate the MMs we had at 6/7 – not too shabby. However, my night-out didn’t have a happy ending. Despite making sure with the mummy that the MMs I have are available for after-hours amusement, the MM I wanted to take out was adamant that she can only go to the hotel room at the same joint even though I told her I will give her extra 50Yuan that will be more than enough to cover for the taxi fare from HZ. I get the feeling that the management wanted to help fill the hotel rooms that can also be rented on hourly basis – interesting! I would not recommend this place despite the good hardware and reasonable price, since I felt “ripped off” and denied a happy ending!

Well, ErZi and myself are hanging around the area for the next few days to “acclimatize” ourselves before we embark on our Southern Expedition. More on that later.

after frozen in HZ and de-frost in singapore, these few days my brain is not working very well. The opening ceremony of my sauna is half successful (long story, will tell you when we meet).
I will be around from 05/01 till 23/01. If you want to cheong new ktv, maybe we can try jin huang - 金煌ktv. If not, jinye is fine with me...

Just to update a little. There is a spa (水疗) in HZ city that can par with those in CP. The spa name is jin di xiu xian zhong xin (金帝休闲中心) It is a building by itself beside kande hotel (康帝酒店). The spa consists of foot massage, body massage, hot pool, etc. The price is almost the same as CP standard. Not a bad place to remove cold. Just a little information - the temperature in HZ is lower than CP by 1~3 deg.C
