I have been to Japan & Korean regularly in the past umpteen years and I hate the “discrimination” practiced by some places where they do not welcome foreigners. Some of you will remember the result of the big Taiwanese “base-ball playing” group in HH and other places in CP, and the old cheongsters all know what happened to Sazui in Shenzhen when more Ang-mohs are seen hanging out in the area. And of ‘cos the incident with the Japs in Zhuhai that caught international attention. Mainland Chinese like “face” too. They all know it is there and illegal – but they leave it alone because of self-interests until someone came along to “screw” it up by being indiscrete or loud. In fact, catching the attention of GAs is not so bad, as they get dealt with by laws. But catching the attention of the local gangsters is another story.

Brothers – it is a globalize world, be more tolerant. If you don’t like what you see, just vote with your feet and avoid the establishments or towns that cater to the people you dislike – be it yellow, black, white or whatever. Or avoid CP and go somewhere else – after all, CP is a tourist place these days! Like everywhere in China, “RedMao” is still the King!

BTW, I was watching a Spring Festival TV show & they had a black African dance group performing on TV.

The "live audience" cheered & applauded them most spontaneously. Then, one of the African lady dancers was interviewed in Mandarin and she spoke of how much she loved "Zhong Guo" in better mandarin than I could speak.

The mostly local Chinese audience loved it!

For the racists here, I'd say, go to some of the corners of Guangzhou & take a look, there are all sorts of foreigners everywhere.

In that highly commercial city, all colours & creeds are well intermixed & "accepted" because the world is driven by the "red mao".

It's all about moving FORWARD.

This is my point though. How can we (as Singaporeans) differentiate ourselves from these "foreigners"? We are all foreigners in their country! They aren't "our" girls at all, no more so than a girl in Pattaya is ours. As far as I know, this is commercial sex. The price go up, the price go down. The fact still remains, we end up paying for it.

Sometimes, I just don't get it. If a PRC come to Singapore, they are PRC and must be different from Singaporean Chinese. But if we go to China, then we must be accepted like them?

Just like to give a reality check to all of you out there, JasonT is right, when we are in China, we are FOREIGNERS, LAO WAI, I remembered, some people called me LAO WAI before, but after staying in South China, Shenzhen for more than 4 years, I have localized... but I am still a FOREIGNER.

when i was in cp 4 years back, i hardly see angmo, but today arabians also have; the same thing goes to singaporeans and malaysians, 4 years ago, most of the time only see taiwanese and hkees, but with the budgest airlines in operations, now almost everyday can see sporeans and msians.

what i can say is, globalisation is something that we cannot avoid, especially nowadays china is so open to the whole world.

with the globalisation effect and fast information flow (we are living at the internet world), there will only be more and more angmos to cheong in cp and it is not possible to kick them out, unless you are the government, and impose such a strong law. but i doubt think the authority will do so.

there are 2 options you can choose:

- cheong at less develop places, just like cheong in cp 3 years ago. there are less developed towns surrounding cp and less angmos, less sporeans, less msians, and these are still the lower cost places. bro cakesim kampong is one of them.

- increase your Mao's power. after all, the girls (being WL, dj, mummies, waitress) will not recognise your skin but only recognise your spending power. if your spending power is strong, all the girls will come after you.

Err... We are not know as Lao Wai lahz... We are 假老外. Fake Ang Moh.. For someone who looks Chinese yet cant speak it good, thats a term for most Singaporeans/Malaysian.

The reason, our English sometimes they also cannot understand, especially our "then hor" and "and then". Our accent is as outstanding as the Hongkies.

So instead of calling us Chinese or 华人, I like to use the term 亚洲人. 我们都是亚洲人！不要让老外欺负我们！ I think they can relate better.

The tend and flow of foreigners (us included) to CP are avoidable. No way, anyone can stop these. Like I used tell our bros "Good thing wont last long". Enjoy while u can. It's like Taiwan n Korean which we did hv great fun in the 80s.

China's started their development from Coastal cities in China than spreading to 2nd tier and then to other inner cities.....

Developments comes wif foreigners (including us). These foreigners like us ll sometime bring "overseas" friends n business associates esp for the case of CP locte in the middle of so many International Fairs in GZ, SZ n HJ.

There r still so many unexplored small townships in DG n GD itself. Just to name some QT, TX, SL, SJ, SP, DS etc....Just move on if U feel CP is getting too congested. Like some bros who ll void CP on weekends by all means...

In the non P4P arena in particular, Singaporeans & Malaysians do often find it harder to compete with the people from USA / Europe etc.

Why?

While the older Singaporeans and their impending CPF windfall has made some of them attractive, the reality is that as of late, that windfall has become smaller and less of a "pie in the sky". This occurance has been more with the "apeks" in geylang coffee shops and the older desperados from China who prey there.

A real "first world passport" makes the US / European nations the "ultimate dream" for many mei meis / dalaga / puying / cewek. Given that Singapore has "first world costs" and "3rd world benefits" our attraction is less.

Specifically for the mei meis, the fact that Chinese is spoken here does help. Further, our good food is another plus point.

Ultimately, wherever we come from, in the short term, how we utilise the red mao in CP makes for a better time.

Most of the "laowais" are unfamiliar with KTV and the activities that occur therein and are afraid to venture in. Those that have a smaller budget (mental rather than real) tend to compare BBS pricing with KTV pricing and cannot seem to synch with why they should pay more.

The result is that they tend to focus only on the BBS where less than 10% of the girls available in CP can be found. Further, Chinese is not an easily learnt language and pretty intimidating.

Your "paradise" on earth will take longer to unfold for the non Chinese speaking visitors. However, CP is no longer the backwater that it was 10 years ago for sure.

My conclusion is the same as some of those who have spoken. Singaporeans do not own China nor the mei meis.

We are foreigners in China. We can't even keep our own women back home from leaping in the arms of foreign men who come with more "dreams to share".

Many of us go overseas where our small shallow pockets become larger than life. We have no right to claim CP and it's women from all over China is ours to keep!
