Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
Jose Mourinho has ended his three-year reign as Chelsea manager following his latest bust up with owner Roman Abramovich, according to reports.
Abramovich called crisis talks following Tuesday night's disappointing 1-1 draw with Norwegian minnows Rosenborg in the Champions League where the fractious duo had furious falling out. Mourinho is believed to have informed senior players of his departure following training on Wednesday. One of those players insists that the manager has not resigned but has been sacked by the Blues. During the launch of a new Chelsea documentary - Blue Revolution - at the Vue cinema in Fulham on Thursday night an emotional Mourinho refused to talk to the press unaware the story had been leaked. He is understood to have confirmed his departure to the players in attendance, which did not include Frank Lampard and John Terry. Mourinho's rocky relationship with Abramovich is public knowledge and despite an apparent thaw in relations last season the duo were again at odds over the role of £30million striker Andrei Shevchenko and the Blues' dour style of football even before Tuesday's result brought events to a head. The Portuguese manager, who has won the Champions League with Porto and two Premier League titles as Chelsea manager, was the subject of continual scrutiny last season and hinted at an exit last summer when he admitted he 'was a bit fed up with certain things' at the club. Many betting companies have stopped taking odds on Mourinho quitting Chelsea, but the club have yet to confirm the reports. After three-years at the London club the self-styled 'Special One' is expected to take training for the final time on Thursday, when he will say good bye to his players. Chelsea's next match is against Premier League champions Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
To be honest, this predicament was looming. Sooner or later, didn't expect to come this abruptly......
Definately, gonna upset a few players who have a close relationship with him. Also it comes not at the right time..... especially the big clash with the Red Devils. If you asked me, the fault isn't his, it's the situation, the injuries which has been occured and new injuries coming up which are hindering him from getting his task accomplished. Well on Sunday I'm sure the players will wanna win it for Jose. They have always been 100% behind him and I'm sure they'll wanna give him a proper send off. Poor Mourinho, he really doesn't deserved this. Guess holding the Blue Revolution Campaign had a hidden propaganda. Who knows! P.S: List Of UPPEES is not in full due to the capacity limitation of the signature function (not be longer than 300 characters excluding BB Code markup). Rumours have it that Mourinho's spats with Joe Cole and Terry (before & after Rosenborg game) helped Abromovich to make his decision. Bookies are laughing all the way to the bank.

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
This is an absolute stunner !
The players must have been devastated. My take is Lampard and Drogba will leave Chelsea. John Terry will be the player manager for the time being, while Roman goes after Guus Hiddink. |

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
My heart with JM too. Roman had his expectation too high too soon.
JM won the league for chelsea for the first time in 50 years. that itself is an achievement. look around at the existing managers in the EPL, how many have actually won A single title??? ask around, Real, Barca, AC or manu etc....how easy it is to win the Champ League? $$ can buy many best, but end of the day, a long nurture right formula with some lady luck win the matches.

In football, I thought resignation is the friendly term of sack. If the board/owner dont want to sack a manager then why hold an emergency meeting to discuss the manager's and club's futures when the season has just started. A couple of different cases were the Curbishley's and Allardyce's where they have stated they were leaving their previous clubs at the end of the season.

Bro CZ.. Totally agree. Was shocked this early morning when I log on internet to update live score and read the bulletin on sacking of JM. Of all the recent mangers in Stamford bridge, I would say that JM did the best job in suppressing player's dismay and their ego because of his "iron wrist" management style.. Guess his ultimatum forces Roman to release him.. Its a pece of upsetting news.. Hope the key and senior players will stay on and fight the battle.. My support for the blues are still strong..

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
Grant set to take over at Chelsea
Chelsea are set to name Avram Grant as their new manager replacing former boss Jose Mourinho, BBC Sport understands. The Israeli, who was the director of football, will now take charge with Steve Clarke as his assistant. Grant will be named as the new manager at Stamford Bridge later today, BBC Sport's Garry Richardson has revealed. The 51-year-old, who is a close friend of Roman Abramovich, arrived at Chelsea in the summer and was told by Mourinho not to interfere in team affairs. Grant, who up until now has held a place on the Chelsea board, arrived at Stamford Bridge after a spell as technical director at Portsmouth. Previously he guided Israel to the brink of World Cup qualification in 2006 and he has also coached Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Maccabi Haifa. Former Chelsea player and BBC pundit Gavin Peacock said the appointment was a strange one. "If you're bringing in someone like (Russia manager) Guus Hiddink, then you're bringing in someone of great repute, as for Grant, I don't know."

1. Not only does JM want to win the European Champions League, he wants to make Chelsea the top club in England and one of the best supported clubs in the world. But look at the pathetic crowd at Stamford Bridge when they played Rosenborg. Come on, even Leeds Utd or Bolton can do better than a 25K crowd and this was on Champions League night!! It's Phil Kenyon's job to make this a reality but home crowd support plays a very very important and crucial role. JM sure looked pek chek man, right? 2. The writing's on the wall when Avarm-whatever-his-name-is was also appointed. The support role, be it talent scout, director of coaching, fitness coach, etc...will always work closely with the manager and this should be left to the manager's decision or proposal. But easier said than done. Then again, Abramovich pays the bills and JM is only an employee - albeit a very well-paid one. Was also rumoured that JM's coaching staff would be asked to go with the appointment of Avram ( don't know the exact news as I'm not a Chelsea fan). 3. All the stories regarding signing Shevchenko and Ballack also widened the rift between the boss and employee. Even though not a fan, I like JM and he is a very good coach. It's Chelsea's loss and some other club's gain. From his track record, JM doesn't need a really big budget to be successful (though the money certainly helps). I really wish him well. Should Sir Alex retire, JM will be a really good fit. |
