After the hellos, i will look at my phone.. if they continue the conversation, I will talk to them
If the HD is silent, the whole journey will be quiet until nearing my place cos need to ask for directions lol
I'm ok with silence

Had a very recent funny encounter yesterday.

Took a hitch home, driver text me that there will be another passenger who will alight before my place. I told him I'm ok with that arrangement.
When he arrived, there were another 2 more female passengers in his car. He didn't even say hi, I didn't say hi as well when i got on his car. During the journey, it was silence in his car with occasional conversations between the driver and the lady beside him. We had eye contact @ his rear mirror but none of us smile at each other. I presume that she is his wife since he didn't mention there is another passenger. At my end, I tried to look busy with my phone.

Soon the passenger beside me alighted and I was with the couple. They had conversations ocassionally. Although I was acting busy, I was quietly observing them lol. I was speculating whether she is his wife as they don't seem to be close. I thought that I will be the next to drop off since they should be going back together. To my surprise, the other lady alighted as well, so they are not a couple. She even thank him. Hmmm, perhaps is his colleague then. I didn't ask him about her identity.

It was just the driver and me in the car. Silence as usual as I was seated behind the driver seat. We had eye contact @ the rear mirror again, this time he smiled. Out of courtesy, I smiled as well. He started to strike a conversation with me. It really got me curious. He was quite chatty but don't know why he was so aloof when the other 2 passengers were around. He was very curious about me and asked me many questions. As I was carrying loads of stuff, he even offered to help to carry to my place for me. Of cos, I didn't accept his help to follow me home.

At night, he did text to ask whether I need a hitch to work or back home. I told him no lol. He is kind of strange, don't know what he is up to. He behaved differently with people and alone with me. Perhaps I should ask him about the other lady the next time! I will update if there are any sparks!

oh this is kinda what i do too ... i'll talk to the first passenger who board and would actually stop talking if there's a next passenger coming onboard ... dunno why but just feels weird if the whole car people just shoots off ...

i don't text the passengers at all after hitches except one who ask to keep my number cos it's very hard to get hitches on fri evening to town but i go to town every weekday evening ...

anyway, interesting & hot adventures from you ... i do have my fair share of such adventures, just not from hitching

My first hitch trip.. pick up a lady 20+.. she on her way to D&D.. than dress till very sexy. But our conversation very dead..

she boarded and say you are the grab hitch guy right?

than she wearing her earring and tighten her heels in my car so i asked
" Are you in a rush to wedding dinner? "

She replied " Actually a bit. But is to a company D&D "..

I said " Okays. I will speed up for you"

chiong and chiong suddenly E-Brake cause in front traffic slowed down at ECP.. than my natural reaction when doing E-brake is i will put my left hand in front of the passenger sitting beside me to prevent them from hitting onto the dash board. But my seat belt do a pretty good job. So no body contact. And i say sorry sorry.. hahaha

after that send her to the hotel and i go home liao.. LOLS

Haha... nice first hitch bro. That's my natural reaction too. to put out the left hand to prevent the passenger from flying out. It is a bit useless esp if the seatbelt also cannot hold the passenger back, what can our hand do? but it's a habit..

hi all..

i'm a hitch driver, doing it to supplement petrol and ERP cost so typically just pick up 1 passenger in the morning and 1 in the evening.

some of my friends very hardcore, trying to do at least 3 pickups per ride, for me too much of a hassle and afraid it will cause some of them to be late for work or other appointment.

for me, if the rider initiate conversation, i will definitely respond, there are some that will auto sit behind, i will take it as a sign they want to be left alone.

there are some that will sit in front, but if they wipe out the hp and started texting, i will get the hint too and just concentrate on my driving...

but the silence is kinda awkward...

Same here. I also only pick up one passenger. So far I pick up two rides only. Both auto sit in front. Both take out phone and use. lols. But today the 2nd one taught me how to go her house. And ask me am i heading to the east cause she staying at the east? Actually i pick up her cause she nearby my office only. And i replied Yeah.. i going tampines mall shopping. than she say oh ok.. upon reaching her house than know she stays in bungalow. Oh my... if i say i don't have plans don't know will she invite me into her house or not... HAHAHAHA... day dreaming too much..

So far i getting use to the silent.. just increase my radio a bit and listen song.. lols
