For Toyota, try to get it from K Motors, their service is better. Toyota Mahanakorn supply all the toyota taxi in Bangkok! For models like the Fortuner and Vios, you may have some difficulties as they are the favourite models. Usually, for scheme that goes lower than 25% downpayment are available from Nissan, Ford etc i.e. brands that are not so widely accepted in Thailand. If you insist on driving Toyota or Honda, no choice......you have to save........Or get someone else to act as guarantor.........

In additional, if you are interested to buy, there is always audition by the Govt departments or insurance companies. Some time you could get some good finds, I got my harrier for Bt1.5 mil and it is only 5 months old (After receiving, straight away go to the temple and ask the Loong Por to bless the car first, then send it to the workshop for servicing) So far, I had been driving it for around 7-8 months now no problem at all Another opportunity for you to check out.........

I have tried kasikorn bank, bank of asia, bangkok bank, all refused to give me loan. but if you become PR, they will give you loan.

if you buy the condo with a thai (e.g. your thai wife) the thai must earn at least around 20K baht per month, then the bank will give loan.

to give up your s'pore citizenship and become thai citizen will take 10 years at the minimum. why give up s'pore citizenship? being s'pore citizen lets you get into most countries without visa, e.g. PRC. being thai citizen very leh cheh, must get visa when going to a lot of places. only advantage as Thai citizen is that you can own land in LOS.
There is something about Bangkok Bank in SG allowing loans from foreigners to purchase property in LOS. I assume it applies to Condos and not sure if it applies to land under wife's name. Check it out - Home Loans for non-residents (Realize your dream home in Thailand with Bangkok Bank). If any bro got more infor from them, FR hor

Thanks for the lead. Dunno why the BBL staff told me they cannot loan foreigners. More of the typical "mai roo reung"? Just like when I called GHB, the employee who took the call said, "can, no problem, just bring your work permit and passport", then when I actually went to the branch, different story Maybe I print out the web-page and go to BBL again

The BBL in Bangkok works differently from the Singapore Branch, to take up the loan ther need collateral from you of a high amount, they charge you up front fees (for Fees look at their website), or go to their branch:

Bangkok Bank PCL Singapore Branch
180 Cecil Street
Bangkok Bank Building
Singapore 069546
Tel: (65) 64100-400
Fax: (65) 6225-5852
E-mail: [email protected]

So far, they had issued out loan to foreigners that buy high end properties in Phuket and Bangkok Sukumvit areas only. I have a friend that took up their loan as he is Swiss and want to stay in Thailand for the rest of his life under the retirement scheme.

For GHB, It would be helpful if you could ask for the name to whom you obtain information from, so that they could help you better. I got my loan from GHB as it is the cheapest loan for Thai Citizens

Many complaints about the horrible traffic, pollutions and safety in Thailand. Yet this farang must be 'nuts' to exchange his Swiss living standards for a thai living.

Maybe i'm also 'nuts' just like him to give up s'pore for a thai living.

I guess he like it due to several factors:

1. Cheaper Housing and Transportation
2. Easy access to Sexual Services
3. He love Thai Food
4. He is being well-treated, back in Swiss he is a nobody, right now he is happily socialising with some of the Hi-Society in Thailand

Re: Emigrating to LOS

Whoa so glad there is such a thread for everyone to share info on emigrating to LOS. Thanks Catman!

Does anyone here have some basic knowledge on the procedures to apply for Thai fiance visa?

And does anyone know if Thai authorities have severe penalties for foreigners if caught for scam marriages?

Condo where in BKK? Can be next to Central Chidlom, like the new one coming up there, then THB 90-100K psm. Sathorn, Wireless Road, early Sukhumvit sois, all closer to the THB 100K psm range. But there are also some rare bargains to be found in 2nd hand market in these areas that can be around THB 50K psm range. Also, how luxurious? There are basic condo and high end condo. Luxury condo overlooking Chao Phraya River obviously expensive.
