Yeah agreed with you, now the polisi everything also want to catch. Drugs, casinos, women, copy VCD/DVD, not putting on seat belt, crossing white lines when stopping, no 1st aid kit in car, every tiny little fault they can find to make that few xtra Rp.

I got a true story to tell.
One of my local friends, a lady was driving one nite when she got spot check by polisi. In Batam your car need to have a fire extinguisher, 2 triangle reflector and a first aid kit box. Shops here actually sell all the 3 items in a set form, FYI Rp.120k per set. Actually she got everything but the first aid kit was without the box. She just put all the contents of the first aid kit like bandages ect ect into a plastic tuber ware box. The polisi asked her for the first aid kit, and she shows the content with the plastic box to the polisi. Polisi say must have the box, and started to find fault and trying asking money from her. Then she got very pissed off and asked the polisi, if kena accident and got injury, you use the contents or the box to treat people leh. Polisi lan lan dunno what to say and just let her go...
Now, it's better not to go out too late at nite. Batam ain't safe anymore like before. Last time it's safe cos no polisi at nite, now not safe cos got many polisi around

Ya. I taking my friends out one nite, and there so happen to have a razia(check) outside pacific, they are basically trying to stop whoever they can, espeically those with motor. I just give them the slip. What can they do? So ,many people, all going everywhere. Fuck them. Find no problem just say they not makan. Ask for $$$.

I was ever caught once for making a illegal turn, end of the day, I tell them I know no indonesian. Showd them my work pass, and pretend to be a big manager in a big factory, and got an important meeting, if I am late, I will ask them to answer for it. They lan lan, issue an offical summon only, which my company paid for. They didn't get any thing. Rather pay to the gov them to their pocket.

Most importantly, dont be scared. If give them some $$ will let them fuck off, do it. DOnt follow them into the police station, even if they ask. If not, you will be asking for more trouble. If can settle on the spot, do it.
