I have no idea of any "value-added" massage places near Sheraton.

I suggest you take a cab to Fortuna. That is THE place for commercial sex in Hanoi.

Unlike HCMC, comsex is almost dead in communist Hanoi. In most of the massage palours, the gals will give a hand job, but it is very difficult to persuade them to do anything more. If you are persuasive enough, you can get them to strip and finger them while they massage you.

try the HC at Fortuna Hotel. if u happen to be staying at Fortuna, u can request for room massage. From my last few trys, all the gals i've encountered offered FJ. At nite, can try Boss KTV.

for shopping, try Hang Gai Street area at Hoan Kiem. Quite alot to see & buy.

i wouldn't describe that area as a pasar malam, it's a couple of streets selling all sorts of things ranging from shoes, clothes, souvenirs, watches, toys etc. impt thing to take note is to bargain hard, slash the prices quoted as they normally will quote damn high!! i did find some nice, unique and cheap stuff there.

Try Hang Duong area. This place has a lot of small shops selling souvenirs, arts and crafts, paintings, lacquers and other stuff. Start bargaining at about 1/3 of the listed price, and close the deal at about 1/2 the listed price.

I have a large collection of vietnamese lacquerware, most of which I acquired in or around Hang Duong.

If you are looking for high quality paintings, water colours etc, try the galleries near the Opera House. Some paintings are absolutely great, especially the french style impressionist pieces. The prices are a steal. Buy without the frame, and get them to pack the canvas in to a cardboard packing tube. You can get a much better frame in S'pore. The reputed galleries will also do the paperwork for the customs.
