Seriously, I will slap Kathy and kick James at the scene. Then I will tell Joon what happen. At most, friendship ends. But at least Joon knows the truth and protect his girlfriend. If I have such a friend doing this to my girlfriend, I will kill him.

I'm afraid this is a real story. Obviously the details are not 100% accurate, give how long has passed. I guess it took me losing my virginity to find my balls.
I was sorry that Elizabeth nearly got raped that day, and I was glad James actually stopped when he did. And YES, I should have stopped them but I didn't. Its one of my lasting regrets till this day.

That night, as I was tossing in bed, unable to sleep, my phone suddenly beeped. “Hi, Elizabeth here. Hope I didn’t wake you up. Call me if you are free?”
With a pounding heart, I called back and tried my best to maintain an even tone, “Hi, Chris here. You ok?” “I guess not. I needed someone to talk to, and obviously I can’t tell Joon anything about what happened. He just sent me home, and while on the car I got your phone number from him. Did I wake you?” I quickly told her she was free to call me anytime, and that I was still awake. “Elizabeth, listen… I’m sorry I didn’t do anything to stop James this afternoon. I was too shocked, and I was also afraid of what Kathy threatened to do. But now I realized that it was the wrong decision to make. I should have stopped them, even if Joon found out and things got ugly. I should have protected you better.” I apologized to her, my words tumbling over themselves. “No, I need to be stronger myself. I can’t have you protecting me all the time. You’re not even my boyfriend. Actually, I was angry with Joon for leaving me alone, but I guess he doesn’t know what a snake James is.” She paused, then hesitantly asked, “Are you free to come out? I don’t really want to be cooped at home, and I don’t want to be out alone tonight.” I jumped at the chance, and despite her repeated question of whether it was alright with me, I got dressed, and drove off to her place. It turns out she stayed in Bishan, quite near me since I stayed in Ang Mo Kio. We naturally ended up in Bishan Park, where there was a big pond. It was past midnight by now, and we ended up sitting down by the waters. She was very quiet, and didn’t really want to talk. Not wanting to disturb her, I just sat quiet by her side. I would occasionally steal glances at her, hoping she doesn’t catch me staring. She was dressed in a casual t-shirt and shorts, and in the moonlight she had a look of such vulnerability tonight that even though I wish I could be like James, I could not bring myself to touch her the way he did. I heard a small sniff come from her, and realized that she was crying. She must again be reliving the afternoon, and what happened. I reached into my pocket and gave her a pack of tissue. She gave me a wane smile, and again sank back into her reverie. I was content to just sit beside her, and bask in the knowledge that she found me comforting, and trusted me. She had absolutely no idea how much of an animal I also was. I loved the fact that I was in a position to really manipulate her, but also hated myself for even thinking that way about such a perfect angel. As I was getting lost in my own thoughts, she suddenly turned to me and asked me, “Chris, do you like me?” I was totally stunned by her question, and stammered, “Wha… wha… what’re you talking about?” “I just want an honest answer out of you.” She didn’t look angry or confrontational, but merely was searching my eyes for some answers. I sensed that she needed an honest answer to know that she can trust me. So I very meekly looked at her and said, “You’re Joon’s girlfriend.” “That’s not what I asked you.” She pointed out. “Ok, if you want an honest answer, yes I do. You’re pretty, you’re friendly, and I feel that we get along. If I had met you somewhere else and you were single, I would be crazy about you. But please don’t misunderstand me. I care about you as a friend, but I respect the fact that you’re Joon’s girlfriend, and I also treasure his friendship. I would never come between you and him.” I quickly confessed. “Besides, I doubt someone as wonderful as you would ever like someone like me,” I lamely added. She gave a weak smile at my words and said, “thanks for your honesty, Chris. Its one thing that I really value. And I know you won’t betray Joon. That’s one of the reasons why I also trust you so much, You are a loyal friend, and even though we’ve known each other for a very short time, I also feel we have what it takes a have a great friendship.” We were sitting side to side, both facing the big pond. She turned her head back to look at the waters, then leaned her head in to rest on my shoulders. I stiffened up at her actions, but then gradually relaxed, and enjoyed the smell of her hair, and the feel of her so close to me. “Thanks for coming out here with me tonight,” she continued, “I really needed some time to think and sort out my feelings, and I didn’t want to do it alone.” “If you treat me as a friend, then you can always ask me out anytime if you need someone to sit beside you.” I told her. “Thanks, you’re really sweet,” she replied, “I wonder why you’re still unattached. A nice guy like you should have no problems charming a girl.” “I guess I just never met the right one. And even if I did, she was probably attached,” I half jokingly said, looking at her as I said so. She caught my meaning, and also turned to look at me. With one arm she reached out to my head to pull me close, then kissed me. A good long and gentle kiss. I was overwhelmed by the whole feeling. My angel was kissing me, and it was a real kiss! It wasn’t seductive like Kathy’s, nor was it an all-action kiss. It was slow, gentle and soft, and very loving. Our tongues searched out each other, and we couldn’t get enough of each others’ mouth. I was past caring about the implications of such a kiss. I had been dying to do this since the moment I met her, and I was not going to let anything interrupt this kiss. After what seemed like forever, we broke out kiss, and we staring into each others’ eyes. As realization dawned of what just happened, she cheekily said to me, ”this is defintely not a goodnight kiss. But I trust you didn’t mind the upgrade.” As a could only smile back at her and nodded my head, she went on, “So how does your first real kiss feel like?” She doesn’t know about my French kiss with Kathy the other day. And then it suddenly dawned on me, that she probably wants to thank me by giving me a real first kiss. So it wasn’t that she had chosen me over Joon, or that she really liked me in that sense! A sinking feeling started to rise up in my stomach. I felt so foolish for having let my thoughts run wild. However, I held back my feelings, and replied, ”It was heavenly. We should do this more often.” I gave her a wink, and she faked a shocked look, “And all this while I thought you were a gentleman!” We laughed, and then the mood turned a little lighter. We chatted more, and then when I had a look at my watch it was already 4am. She looked exhausted by now, as was I. So I sent her home, before I hit my own bed, now finally able to sleep with a big grin on my face. I went to bed dreaming of her soft hair in my face, her warms lips’ touch lingering on mine, and the sweet aroma of her smell as we kissed. Over the next couple of weeks, she was busy with Joon’s imminent departure. I would get regular text messages from her, about how she was feeling very sad. As much as it pains me to know how much she loves him, I loved the fact that she turns to me when she needs some emotional support.
