Johor Baru gets 431 extra cops on the beat
Report from The New Straits Times dated Thursday 9 August 2007 :-
Johor Baru gets 431 extra cops on the beat JOHOR BARU : The first batch of additional policemen hit the streets here last month with the key task of fighting crime and building better rapport with the public. The 431 personnel are from the General Operations Force and the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU). Johor deputy chief police officer Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said this after a closed-door meeting with his men yesterday. "They have been split into four groups so that there will be round-the-clock patrols," Mokhtar said. "They will be rotated every two weeks to ensure the men are mentally and physically fit. There will also be dialogue sessions with them so that they can tell us what more needs to be done." The 431 policemen have been conducting patrols here since late June but only on a temporary basis. This time around, they will be here on a permanent basis. They will concentrate their efforts in Johor Baru South and North districts, said to be crime-prone areas. Special attention will also be given to Jalan Wong Ah Fook, Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Dhoby, which are known for drugs and prostitution. "This clean-up operations will include other enforcement agencies." The public will also be roped in under the community policing programme to tip off police on suspicious activities in their areas. Mokhtar said state police would receive another 306 personnel this month and they would be stationed in the two new police districts of Seri Alam and Nusajaya. --- KatoeyNewsNetwork |

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
You are absolutely correct in regards to the motivational forces behind committing a rape. In Bosnia [Serbian troops on Bosnian women]and during the fall of Berlin in 1945 [Soviet troops on German women], rape was systematically used to inflict "shame" to those who were "conquered"

Whyb people rape women instead of 'releasing' into prostitutes
Quote:

[QUOTE] Quote:
As a part-time Counsellor to prisoners I often ask convicted rapists why they go on raping women/young girls instead of robbing people and then use the money to pay for prostitutes to 'satisfy' themselves ALL of them tell me that :- 1. the joy & 'shiokness' from raping and paying for sex with prostitutes is not the same 2. Normally prostitutes 'service' at least 5 to 10 customers (if not more) per day, i.e. at least 125 to 250 customers per month. Hence their 'holes' would not be 'tight' compared to the 'normal' women/young girls that they rape |

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
It was indeed an unfortunate incident. But you were lucky to have met a chinese robber. They only need your money.
If malay robbers, they rob your money and rape the girls. If indian robbers, they rob, rape and murder. |

Johor crime lord under restricted residence
Report from The STAR dated Saturday 11 August 2007 :-
Johor crime lord under restricted residence KUALA LUMPUR : A crime lord from Johor has been placed under restricted residence in Jeli, Kelantan. This came to light yesterday following his lawyer’s withdrawal of a habeas corpus application seeking his release from the Sungai Buloh Prison, where he has been held since his arrest on Aug 1. The 55-year-old man, described as the head of one of the most powerful syndicates in the country and once regarded as “untouchable”, had been arrested by a special team of officers from Bukit Aman’s commercial crime department over his alleged involvement in illegal lottery activities in the Johor Baru district since March 2005. The man’s lawyer N. Sivananthan, who filed the habeas corpus application on Aug 3 at a High Court here, withdrew it yesterday saying that his client has been placed under restricted residence since Wednesday. As such, the lawyer said he would be making a fresh civil application to declare his client’s detention under the Restricted Residence Act as unlawful. Judicial Commissioner Abdul Alim Abdullah allowed the withdrawal. Outside the courtroom, Sivananthan said he would file the application against the three-year restriction order at the High Court in Kota Baru. --- KatoeyNewsNetwork |

People worry about rising crime rate, says MCA President
Report from The STAR dated Monday 20 August 2007 :-
People worry about rising crime rate, says OKT ( MCA President ) KUALA LUMPUR : Malaysians are alarmed over the rising number of crime cases in the country and the Government needs to do more including imposing harsher punishment, said MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting. He said the situation also affected the country’s image in the eyes of foreign investors and tourists. “The rising crime rate is a hot issue among the people. Cases such as murder, rape, robbery and snatch theft continue to hog the headlines in the media,” he said in his opening speech at the 54th MCA annual general assembly here yesterday. He said most of the criminals were drug addicts, the unemployed, illegal immigrants, members of secret societies, and those facing dire financial problems because of outstanding loans. “The MCA takes a serious view on crime because parents and members of the public are constantly worried for their own safety and that of their children when they leave home for work or school,” he said. Ong noted that the Government and police had come out with programmes to fight crime including increasing the number of police personnel by 60,000, providing 2,000 more patrol cars and sending more rank and file officers to patrol crime-prone areas. “These are the right steps and most welcomed by the people,” he said. --- KatoeyNewsNetwork |
