There is a great book, "Thailand Fever" (forget the authors, check amazon.com)

it's about western culture and thai culture, and having a thai girlfriend.

the easy answer is "you are being had" but the truth is not that simple, what is valued in Thai culture, money, generosity, supporting parents and family... all those things are different and a little more complicated. What can be perceived in the west as "she's taking advantage of you" can actually be her behaving according to her culture but you not understanding.

(or maybe she's taking advantage of you... :-)

I'm a romantic, there can be love and it can work, but like any cross-cultural relationship if you don't work at understanding and respecting the differences, the long-term prospects are dim.
