Wow it's quite an awesome story u got there. Spent my whole morning lecture time reading the whole story haha. I was thinking that Beth's betrayal, however devastating it was for Daniel is one of the best thing that actually happened to him. But then she committed suicide. God the mood is getting heavy...

Memories of Beth flooded his mind. From the first time they met in school, to the courtship and finally the relationship. He remembered how feminine she was and she was mature in her thinking, never the one who was materialistic like the ones he met before. She was the one who liked to plan their anniversaries and he was the one who would put her thoughts to reality. Her sweet smiles. Her delicate touch. Was gone. He had already forgiven her deep in his heart but why pretend that he was still angry?

He stopped licking Bernice as he uttered in a low voice.

Daniel: I'm sorry Bernice. I'm so so sorry...

Bernice hugged him and never said a thing.

He cried like a baby.

Daniel: I was too harsh with my words to her earlier... If I had not shouted and scolded her this wouldn't happen. It's my fault.... it's my fault...

Bernice: It's not your fault Daniel... who is she really?

Daniel: She was my ex girlfriend of 12 years. We were almost getting married when she left me for another guy. I waited at the church, only to receive her call that she was leaving for Canada already. She messed up my life. I tried to forget her Bernice. I really tried. But 12 years of feelings was not that easy to let go...

Bernice turned cold and she shivered.

Bernice: So you never loved me. I was just a temporary plaster to your wounds. Once your wounds are healed I will just be thrown away.

Daniel looked down and remained silent, his tears still dripping.

Bernice: I won't be angry with you Daniel as I love you too much to hate you. I just want to let you know that no matter what happens, I will still be there for you. Not just now but the future too.

Daniel: Don't make promises Bernice. She too swore but in the end she still left me. I have a phobia of falling into a relationship Bernice. I really have.

Bernice: I will prove you wrong. And I hope one day you will know how much I love you Daniel. I will not ask for your love. For everything I did, I was willing.

The words she said seemed to act like keys, slowly unlocking the multiple locks in his heart. He did not know what to say but fall asleep on her breasts. That was the only thing he could do and the both of them cuddled in the bed and slept.

Bernice had left early for work for she knew Daniel would not be in the mood to work. She kissed him and left with a smile.

Daniel woke up and the first thing he did was to go to his bar counter, took out his cognac and drunk himself in sorrow. Yes. It was as though he was back almost a year ago, trying to forget the images of Beth and this time, he knew he had lost her for good. He kept listening to her last words.

*I Love You...*

He threw his cup to the floor and drank from the bottle instead where he spilled some on the floor and then he walked to where the broken glasses were. He accidentally stepped on the glass but it felt real numb. His gastric was hurting from the hard liquor but still he drank on.

His phone rang and it was Jason. He hung up. And continued to drink until he collapsed onto the floor and the bottle of cognac laid there, with the liquid pouring out, mixed with his blood, creating a pool of brownish red.

Bernice was quite distracted in her work for she was concerned about Daniel. She wished that time would quickly pass and she could go and check on Daniel. She had a set of keys that Daniel had passed to her last night.

Now Evans was too worried about Daniel though she did not know what happened but she wanted to let him know that she would be there for him if he needed and she, thought that she would go visit him.

Now both of them were leaving for his house and Bernice packed dinner for him and so did Evans.

And to make things worse, Ting was also on her way there. She was happily taking a small bag with her clothes, excited that she will be spending a free night's lodging at Daniel's place.

Three cabs arrived and all three came out from the cabs. The feeling was awkward. But they ignored each other for they thought they might be going to the other houses. But no. They were all heading for the same direction with Bernice heading the front. She took out her keys from the handbag when the three of them said the same thing.

Bernice, Evans, Ting: WHO ARE YOU?

Bernice, Evans, Ting: I'M DANIEL'S GIRLFRIEND

Bernice, Evans, Ting: WHAT DID YOU SAY?

Bernice, Evans, Ting: I'M DANIEL'S GIRLFRIEND

Bernice sighed. She knew she had to fix this scenario before it gets worse.

Bernice: Ok. We'll talk inside.

But when she opened the door, they saw a trail of blood and she thought he had committed suicide, the packs of food dropped to the floor in an instant and she ran towards Daniel, stepping on the shattered glass, ignoring the pain. He reeked so much of alcohol but Bernice was happy that he passed out while drinking but not attempting to do foolish things. Ting had fainted after seeing blood and Evans just froze there.

Bernice gestured Evans to help her carry Daniel up to the shower room. She told Evans to shower him, while she carried Ting to the sofa and unbuttoned her top two buttons for her to breathe more. She took the vacuum cleaner to clean up all the mess before she went to check on Daniel as well as washing the tiny glass fragments off her sole. Evans was doing a good job cleaning him. Bernice and Evans brought him to the bed where Bernice dressed him and Evans applying the medication to his cuts and placing the plaster. He was still sleeping.

Bernice went to check on Ting and she finally awoke. Evans passed her a warm glass of water.

Bernice: Here. You will feel better.

The three of them looked at each other and none uttered a word. They only forced a smile towards each other. And deep in their hearts, their thoughts were the same.

Bernice, Evans, Ting: YOU GOT SOME EXPLAINING TO DO...

Now their stomachs growled. And Evans took the initiative to cook some instant noodles for all three. They then introduced each other.

Daniel had slept for more than half a day as he dragged himself out of bed, surprised to see why the lights were turned on. He rubbed his eyes as he couldn't adapt to the lights. Then he blinked. And blinked. And blinked.

*Oh shit. This can't be happening.*

The trio heard his footsteps and turned.

Daniel's face turned white.

*Shit*. He wanted so much to hide into a hole.

Bernice stood up and walked towards him.

Now he was prepared to be slapped by her when she held him, asking if he was feeling better. He limped and was also surprised by Bernice limping too.

She helped him down to sit where the trio was sitting. They stared at him but none uttered a word.

Daniel was about to say something when Bernice said.

Bernice: Leave the explanation for later. I've already told them what happened and they are not to ask anything or bring up anything for now, until you are well. Then you will clarify it. For now, please get rest and do not drink anymore. Getting drunk would not get you anywhere Daniel. You got to move on no matter how painful things get. You will be sure that she would not want you to despair.

Her words cut him and he knew she was right. The Bernice now was the one who was hurting the most inside, yet she was the one who lead and controlled everything. If she had not been there, Daniel would have been in deep shit.

Evans stood up and said: It's late. I got to be going already. I will come by again. Take care ok Daniel.

No one dared to say the word Dear, for Bernice was there and they also knew that Daniel did not make it official.

Bernice: Since Ting will be staying tonight I will go home.

She turned and suddenly Daniel stopped her.

Daniel: You are the only one I have right now Bernice. Please. Don't leave.

His words broke the heart of the two. As Ting walked out with Evans for she knew there was no place for her. After all it was Ting who was threw herself at him.

Bernice suddenly said to them: Stay. Let's be here for him.

Evans and Ting turned around, with tears in their eyes and nodded as though Bernice was the head of the house and they were the concubines.

Daniel was shocked by Bernice's doing.

Daniel: Are you really sure about that Bernice? It just doesn't sound right.

He said as Bernice helped him to his room.

Bernice did not reply but smiled. He knew she was furious by she had to act calm, not to make things ugly. She didn't want to make a din for she was afraid they might hurt Daniel. And that was the only thing that she could do.

Because of his huge house, there were a few rooms that they could spend the night in. All of them slept separately. Daniel was still feeling giddy due to the excessive drinking but he was feeling much better. He turned his head and stared out of the windows. Having them in the house was not a bad thing. At least the house was full of life. And tomorrow just happens to be the weekend.

He couldn't sleep that night. Tons of things flooded his mind. He flipped and flipped.

Oh man... The 4 that he bedded. He was relieved that at least Rena wasn't there. And she was the only one who doesn't know where he live. And the question he wanted to ask himself so much; would he fall in love with one of them or would his feel for lust want to have more? For now, there was just one girl that had moved his heart, bit by bit.

It was already 2am and he was still wide awake. Perhaps now he was feeling the pain in his wounds. Now his door opened and he could see a silhouette which he could not make up.

It was dark and the figure just stood there. He studied the figure as it came closer and closer. He must be dreaming.

Beth. She looked so angelic with the dress and accessories he bought her.

Beth: Be strong. Live for me. I love you.

And then the figure disappeared.

He stared at the blank space. Was it just his imagination or did he really see her?

That was something he could not answer.
