Re: Mediacorp Actress Got Raped in Malaysia
Ok lah, first time posting here so I hope I don't get flamed for my comments.
I'm a Malaysian. Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian, Portuguese, Iban, Kadazan.. whatever, who cares? I am one. And well, most of you guys are right on one thing, JB is one screwed up place. Seriously screwed up. Whenever I visit Singapore, which I do quite often, I'd try not to stop off in JB cos it's messed up. But crimes, how do they begin and who commits them? Yeah yeah.. criminals. But who are the criminals? First off, we get lots of these snatch thieves here. They ride on motorcyles and try and steal the bags. Main culprits? Unemployed and unemployable Malay youths. Not that being a Malay is a bad thing k? I lived in Singapore for five years and the Malays over at your place don't seem to be as screwy as the ones we have here. But after being brought up in a world where you are given everything, I guess finding out that the real working world doesn't give a shit about you having 30% is rather hard to take. They get easy degrees (like toilet paper) and they can't get jobs cos their language skills are not good enough, they can't sell themselves. So no job and what do they turn to? Crime. You know, over here we have these people called Mat Rempit. They are like motorcycle gangs. Go to the roads late at night and create a big nuisance. But UMNO Youth (which is like the Malay version of Young PAP) want to court them and make them UMNO members? Yeah, these thugs and ruffians become UMNO members. Why? Because the thugs are Malays and politics mah. Actually, you guys are a bit wrong though. You might think that Malaysia has no laws. We have laws here. We have courts and things like that. But we don't have a good enough dedicated police force. Sad to say, even after their payrise, policemen in Malaysia are still paid very low. If I'm not mistakened it's like less than 1k ringgit. You want a policeman to risk his life on that pay? He'll say "FUCK YOU, PUKIMAK!" I know it may sound unprofessional but it's human nature. End of the story. I don't know why sometimes (if not most of the times), you Singaporeans always complain about LKY and PAP. Believe me, I'd rather have LKY than AAB. You are lucky, you know. I know one of you said that Separation was one thing LKY got right. Dunno about that. I get very upset everytime I think about it. Upset because if it had never happened, maybe.. maybe LKY would have become PM of Malaysia and my country won't be so messed up. Then again, must be thankful for small mercies. My grandparents could have landed in Indonesia instead. Then surely mati, lah. |

Re: Mediacorp Actress Got Raped in Malaysia
Many of my malaysian friends, when coming to Singapore, bypass Johor and refused to shop or stop at Johor too because the crime situation is Asia's worst. You speak like any one of those people in KL ( not as if KL is safe but at least u dont have 4 malay youths pulling u off into the car to palm farms to gang-rape you )
Please see the youths being charged ( although i feel that these 4 are made the scapegoats ) Eight charged with robbery-rape JOHOR BARU: Eight men were slapped with multiple charges of robbery, rape and forcing their victims to perform unnatural sex acts at two Sessions Courts here yesterday. The eight, aged between 19 and 31, are accused of committing the offences at separate locations between May 22 and June 11. Accused Mohd Fiadli Azman, 21, Mohd Iskandar Ahmad Sukmawati, 19, and Mohd Razie Abd Rahman, 22, were charged with raping and forcing an Indonesian woman to perform oral sex on them at a vegetable garden in Kempas between 6am and 9am on May 22. Mohd Iskandar and Hafizullah Ismail, 22, were charged with raping and forcing a 35-year-old victim to perform oral sex in Jalan Denai Utama, Kempas, between 12.10am and 1.10am on June 6. Mohd Harnizam Abdul Rahman, 24, and Salim Atan, 31, were charged with raping and forcing their 18-year-old victim to perform oral sex at an abandoned hut in Taman Tampoi Indah between 10.30pm and 12.30am on June 11. Two others – Iskandar Jaafar, 29, and Norman Kembali, 27, – were also charged with rape and forcing the girl to perform oral sex. Four of the accused – Salim, Norman, Iskandar Jaafar and Harnizam – were also charged with robbing and causing grievous harm with a parang to Ang Yew Lee, 22, in Jalan Persiaran Indah, Taman Bukit Indah, at 10.30pm on June 11. Judge Muhammad Jamil Husin and Judge Zainal Azman Abdul Aziz denied bail to the eight on the grounds of public safety and interest. The judges set Sept 26 for mention.

Re: Mediacorp Actress Got Raped in Malaysia
Allow me to inject some humour into this thread please...
Overheard at a coffeeshop in JB... Man A: "I keep hearing about the high crime rate in this city. I wonder what does statistics really say." Man B: "Nobody knows for sure." Man A: "Why not?." Man B: "Somebody stole them." |

So, for my msian bros, please do not be disheartened by current events. I am sure most msians are patriotic and love their homeland just as much as anyone else, no matter what community. Living amongst you will exist a man of LKY's calibre, who is blessed with foresight and passion to give people a realistic better life, only waiting to be discovered or had been overlooked, for we humans are emotional beings and often prefer to listen to what we want to hear, rather than to cold hard facts until too late. It may be too late for our generation, who had lost to tactics employed by devious power corrupt elements who used divide and conquer strategies to achieve their aims. The more we hate each other's community, the more votes they will garner with the major majority community thru the instrument of fear. It hurts so much when one's child is born, innocent and naive, only to be forced to accept that their fate is already sealed, for they will have little or no place to reach education's pinnacle, have to work harder than others, play 2nd fiddle to those who have lesser merit, or denied of opportunities, or even get state's constitutional guaranteed protection. But it is still not too late to win dignity and true equality for them, our next generation. We would need to reach out to ALL communities and do not allow hatred to fester, allowing that emotion to grow into fear as a wedge to forcefully pull us apart. By reaching out and befriending, bonding with them, they would not have any cause to hate anymore. Disagreements are natural, but it can be solved by logic and reason. We dont need to reach out dauntingly to 22 million citizens, just to our neighbours and goodwill will exponentially grow. In truth, most malays themselves are not stupid and do not want theocracy rule. For that would mean acceptance of archaic religious laws for daily life. While some of its law may be relevant, most arent for our modern present life. But under a theocracy, society must adopt ALL its laws, there can be NO compromise to stay true to the 'leap of faith' required, surrendering all will to a leader or leaders whom claim to know and speak thru the mouth of an Almighty. Most malays will accept it in the end, but only because of peer pressure and more critically, the fear element of minority communities taking political control, which the minority groups wont be able to because religion is what that will separate all others. Factions only serve themselves, without a care for the damage it will do to society as a whole. Thus, for good progressive people to win, we will have to prove our intentions of goodwill by reaching out to other communities to deny the factions an opportunity to divide us. The nation's forefathers had already signed a social contract - the constitution that guarantees a secular state. No man may tamper with the constitution without being branded a traitor and an anarchist, for the constitution was created by good men for the sake of future generations of diverse groups to live in harmony in a shared country. Any changes will require the approval of all groups. By reaching out to our neighbouring communities, opening up of ourselves to them, we would show them there is nothing to fear, for we all share the common traits of life - to survive, to obtain a better life peacefully, rather than to annhilate one another, for beneath all our differences, we are similar humans with similar needs and wants. There is enough resources in the country for all. The only difference of living beings on earth are human and animals...and ex-humans who choosed to become beasts. By reaching out to them, over a cup of coffee, we can share our ideals and rationale, our common aims for the future and many will share in the belief of the need to progress beyond archaic laws, which was necessary during an ancient time but holds little relevance with the rapid progress the rest of the world is gaining and adapting to its changes beneficially for the good of themselves and society. Humans have the ability to rationalize and can be won over by social behavioural & scientific facts, coupled with statistical mathematically rational figures of progress. We need to evolve as our forefathers had - from cave dewellers to discoverers of habitable planets in the universe - and move with the times, or we will only disgrace and disappoint the One who gave us the miracle of life and opened our eyes to the wonders of daily discoveries in living. Success for a peaceful change for good starts with only one person and grows exponentially. We must never give up for the sake of our future generations. An example of how the future would look like if we fail would be the state of Johor today. PS. sorry for the long post. .

errrm...only 5 times after our independence in 1965, with approval from members of parliament and with opinions from a 3-judges supreme court judiciary tribunal. 1. 1970 - to safeguard racial. linguistics and religious minorities thru the formation of a presidential council for minority rights. 2. 1984 - provide for non-constituency MPs. 3. 1988 - introduce group representation constituencies, so as to always include a minority race in the group instead of single candidates for voting MPs. 1988 - to provide for nominated MPs as credible voices in parliament, after poor showing by opposition parties. 1991 - to allow citizens to vote for President. Its perfectly ok to amend the constitution in order to move with the times, but any changes must be approved by citizens thru all elected representatives or at least 2/3 of them after much careful considerations by the head of state Politics is no fun, but too much racially motivated crimes and too many defenseless minority groups' women and children are sexually assualted in Johor, just sharing and see if something can be done to help.....we are all only humans after all, laugh or bleed the same. .
