You can easily purchase a local Shanghai SIM card on the street at any provision stores, or at the local mobile network carrier.
Simply purchase a SIM card from your choice of mobile network carrier, i.e. China Mobile, Unicom or China Telcoms.
Those with preference for faster data speed can opt for either China Unicom or China Telcom which comes with 3G.
Do specifically tell the counter girl that you're purchasing the SIM that you need the 3G SIM card for mobile phone, not merely for surfing Internet only. They have separate SIM card meant only for surfing Internet. Those using iPad can opt to purchase the said Internet SIM card which allow one to use the 3G mobile network all over China, everywhere.
Do bring along your passport in event the mobile network carrier of your choice might just need you to register the SIM card with your particulars.
A deposit of RMB¥500 is required usually for either choice of mobile network carrier for those that need International roaming functions.
IDD calls function are usually attached with the choice of mobile network carrier, of which a IDD dialing nos will be given.
- China Mobile network IDD dialing nos is 1259300
- China Unicom network IDD dialing nos is 1791100

Qing Jiang road is located within Caohejing Hi Tech Industrial Park, which the name of the area is self explanatory.
However, it is quite nearby to the following areas for both drinks and food;
1) Hongmei Road, nearby the junction of Yan An rd. A street of bars and restaurants. A mere 10 mins cab ride at max.
2) One can opt to go a bit further towards South, to Xu Jia Hui area. Lots of shopping malls, restaurants, cafes located within the vicinity.
