I had never done anything to betray Danine until that point of time. From the first day that i decided to go after Danine, i broke up with my then girlfriend that i had been seeing for about 6 months(i'm serious). Of course I didn't know what to expect, whether i could win her heart... but i felt that it was the right thing to do. I had wanted to go after Danine as a single, whether or not she had a bf wasn't important to me. If i failed, it didn't matter... at least I was serious about being true to her.

Back at work, rumors were rife that the 2 top sales people in the company had something going between them... (damn it, what happened in Bali didn't stay in Bali). I knew Sharon wasn't the one whom started these rumours, she's not the type that would go around telling people about her sexual exploits making herself look like a cheap slut and all... she's too smart for that.

People loved to gossip in my company, second guessing what happened... It was like they had nothing better to do or did not have other conversational piece other than to speculate about insignificant events surrounding them. It was like watching a re-run of the movie "I KNEW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER". Fucking horrible...

News were that we were very "close" during our trip, but that's all i heard... nothing about us banging each other like there was no tomorrow. Eventually the rumors reached Danine, whom wasn't exactly thrilled about the news... to hear about her buddy and me. My strategy was simple, to do something that i do best... act blur.

Danine: Are u sure there was nothing going on between u two?

Me: Positive. We had a dance, ate breakfast together... but that's it!

Danine: I hate people that lie to me

Me: Cmon la... be reasonable here

Danine: Ok u want me to be reasonable... tell me the truth

Me: Truth is... i really dunno why you're getting so upset for... i dun get upset about you sleeping with another guy

Ooops.

Danine (really angry): Is that what you think about me? A bloody slut that goes around sleeping with guys? You knew that i had a bf much earlier...

Me: No... But i just thought that you should be fair to me...

Danine: Do you know that i think about you all the time even when i'm with him?

Me: Let's not talk about this ok... it's pisses me off thinking about him

Danine: I didn't know that you have such strong feelings about this... if that's the case... why not let's just not see each other again

It's been over 4 months since Danine and i started this special relationship... When we were together, we were never really able to do things that a normal couple could... simple things, such as holding hands when we're out... catching a movie in town... we wouldn't be meeting on weekends... Her birthday passed, but i didn't get to meet her on that day as well...

I have always tried to make our relationship as real as it could be... Remembering her likes and dislikes, i once cooked out of a recipe book her favorite dishes on my birthday... there were altogether 5 dishes that took me over 3 hours to prepare (It was my first time!)... after which, i placed little pink napkins (She loves pink) on the table to make it look more pro... When she arrived at my place, i told her...

"Babe... if you couldn't celebrate your birthday with me... i thought i'd celebrate mine for you..."

I gave her a present. A necklace with 2 little cute pendants on it (which i chose)... one of a key and the other, a heart. It broke her to pieces... She got really emotional that day, hugging me and raining buckets... lol what a silly girl!

Yup, i know i'm cheesy.

I would never force her to choose between her bf or me. But I was hoping for the day to come when she's truly mine. This was the first time she mentioned a break-up... I didn't think that this "rumor" in the office warrants a break-up. I didn't think that she knew i was really banging Sharon in Bali. And for most part, I just didn't think that the break-up will be with me.

Me: Are you serious about this...

Danine: yes... it wasn't going to last anyway (she's about to cry)

Me: Hv you decided that he is... (Danine cut me in the middle of my sentence)

Danine: It's not about him... i want to tell you something...

A minute passed, with tears rolling down her cheeks... Danine told me the shocking revelation...

Danine: the place that i'm staying with him... it's bought under both our names...

It didn't take a genius to figure what that meant, a new 5 room HDB flat bought under a couple, considering she was just 24 yrs old...

Me: you gotta be fucking kidding me... you've just made me an adulterer you know that??...

Danine (crying): (Sobbing)...We just ROM-ed... but didn't go through the customary wedding yet... so officially we're not really married...

Me: Do you seriously think that would make me feel better about the situation??... YOU"RE SUCH A FUCKING LYING BITCH!!(i was really pissed and needed to let go some steam)

Danine: Is that really what you think i am?

Me: Get the fuck out of my life PLEASE!

Danine: Ok baby(sobbing)... i will... (fighting back her tears, forcing a smile) but i want you to take good care of yourself okie? ByeBye...

I didn't turn to look at her when she left.
