Easiest way is to ask your hotel for the directions to the local bus station.

Buses to Zhuhai and cross from there.

Bro Calvin already answered the obvious part of the question. But to elaborate further, when you've arrived at the train station, follow the crowd and walk out of the station into a big open area (around 100 - 200m). Diagonally across, is the nearest taxi stand where prices are more expensive and open to haggling. There'll be a queue of taxis at the road side waiting for business. Depending on where you're staying in CP (I assume that you've a hotel waiting), the cost should be between RMB 10 to RMB 30. RMB 30 is already carrot price but still inexpensive by our standard. If you wanna save a few dollars, follow the crowd to the direct opposite end (45degrees left from the exit of the train station), prices are cheaper and you might even get someone who is willing to go by meter. The party areas in CP are all within 5 - 12 mins taxi ride from train station.

Step up meter price of taxi range from RMB 6 (local yellow and green CP taxi - Vios size) to RMB 8.40 (taxis from outside CP - China VW size).

If it's your first time, I would advise getting a guide (a few listed here). They're not expensive, service is pretty good as they're dependent on advertisement by word of mouth. And you'll probably enjoy the more relaxed experience.
