i think they are trying to copy Thai Disco and Hip Hop concept. mostly hip hop.
but they didn't realize that even hip hop has bigger shop space than them...
don't u think so that the area of the stage,dj area,counter all similiar to hip hop ??
so by designing a shophouse converted area with both a stage and a DJ area... it becomes very small and the whole place look like a can or sardines.

I thought it will look better if the DJ area is near to the door... and the bar counter further in....
but then again... i am not a designer.. so don't know if it will work out...

But i think people usually open pubs, mainly because they like to open 1... but i think doing business is also a must.
But when i look at the place... i think jia lat...
total about 15 tables... with a chill-out area with sofa behind... so if LETS say... if 1 day, full-house... every table 1 bot of martell. profit around $100 per bot.. after all the free flow green tea... etc etc...
they have around 5 waiter,1bar boy, 1 cashier, plus flower girl... the band, electricity,rental,licencing,... jia lat.
i think at the rate the place goes... the boss comfrim lose $$$.
