I reach Shanghai today & decide to check that area since it close to my hotel at around 10.30pm.

Reach the area after about 10min walk and the BBS light is off & dark, and not lighted with red light as what we use to see before the crackdown.

I am expecting this due to my experience in Suzhou few days before reaching shanghai (see my post in Suzhou).

Sauna Spa recommended is the Merrylin Court hotel located on Wu Zhongshan Rd, junction mid ring Rd.

Yes of course it is expensive. But if you want to enjoy in the comfort of your own 5-star hotel room instead of the run-down barber shops then that's the price (at least for me, bo bian not good looking enough mah).

Price ranges widely in China, even within Shanghai. I've tried a HJ for just 80 and have an overnight for 3000 before. If you are good and lucky you may also find FOCs or ONS but they do come with a price in other forms and not neccessary cheaper in the end. I take the approach of paying what you think is worth at the moment, do it then move on lor.

Cost of living in Shanghai is now sky high. Housing, shopping, and even the Singapore and Western food are more expensive than Singapore now. Only things that are cheaper are cars, chinese food, taxi.......... KTV is slightly cheaper
Oh yeah, I believe the Chinese ministers pay are cheaper too...........

But what to do, Singapore market is so small and people like us have to travel to Shanghai to make a living.

Undeniably China is now an economic super-power and Shanghai is the center of most activities, so naturally it is expensive. There are of course cheaper cities in China like Dongguan and are more fun, unfortunately I don't travel there.
