Serious 70 Gong Cheebye Sec 5 Students Sat For The Wrong O Level Math Exam Paper!
An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
SINGAPORE: More than 70 Secondary 5 candidates from Woodgrove and Ahmad Ibrahim secondary schools were given the wrong papers for their O Level Mathematics Paper 1 examination - but exam authorities on Monday (Oct 24) confirmed that the students will not have to re-sit the exam. Responding to media queries, the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) confirmed that the 73 students had been registered for the GCE O-Level Mathematics (Syllabus 4048) Paper 1 instead of the Mathematics (Syllabus 4016) Paper 1, which they sat for on Oct 20. "The two schools had wanted their students to sit for Mathematics (Syllabus 4016) papers but had indicated the wrong syllabus code during the registration process. “After the schools were made aware of the error, they immediately notified and worked closely with us to ensure that the candidates sat for the correct syllabus for Maths Paper 2 on 21 Oct,” said the board. Of the 73 students, 24 were from Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School and 49 from Woodgrove Secondary School. Said Mr Chee Chit Yeng, principal of Woodgrove Secondary School: “The school is reviewing (its) registration processes to ensure such mistakes of entering the wrong subject code will not happen in future.” “Our immediate focus is to provide the necessary support to the students who are still in the midst of taking the national examinations,” added Ms Chew Ing Lim, principal of Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School. Both schools said they have reached out to parents and students to ensure they will be not be disadvantaged. According to SEAB, the GCE O-Level Mathematics (Syllabus 4048) is a revised version of the Mathematics (Syllabus 4016) and is being used for the first time this year. While the affected candidates have sat for the revised Syllabus 4048, the topics examined are largely comparable with the Syllabus 4016. The students will not be required to re-sit Paper 1, said SEAB, adding that no other schools were affected. "We are working with the schools and the University of Cambridge International Examinations to ensure that these candidates will be fairly assessed in the GCE O-Level Mathematics Paper 1 examination," the board added. "We will take into consideration the circumstances of the incident, the candidates’ performance in the school preliminary examination, their performance in the other Mathematics paper and the cohort's performance in providing a fair assessment to the candidates for the Mathematics subject." http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...t/3231444.html Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
