I was under the impression that Malaysians were more street smart than Sinkies but it would appear that you have obviously spent too much time in Singapore. The dumbing down is evident.

Re: Need help on citizenship
U can register at ROM for marriage anytime in singapore or in malaysia or in china. I not sure what citizenship you refering to. If you intend to get her a sg citizenship, the chances are almost zero as you are not a Singapore citizen yourself.

Re: Need help on citizenship
Ahem.....Ahem.....Thank you for your interest and enquiry in becoming our Prestigious Honorary Citizen and in bringing great economical value to our country:
Eligibility for Prestigious Honorary Singapore Citizen: The following categories of people are eligible to apply for Singapore Citizenship: 1) A person who is at least 21 years of age and has been a Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) for at least 2 to 6 years prior to the date of application. An applicant who wishes to apply on his/her own merits may come for a preliminary assessment interview after 1 year of permanent residence. 2) Spouse of Singapore Citizen with a minimum of 2-year residence as a PR and married for at least 2 years preceding the date of application. 3) Child born outside Singapore where at least one parent is a Singapore Citizen. An overseas-born minor (child) may be eligible for Singapore Citizenship by Descent under Article 122(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, if his/her parents meet any of the following conditions: 1.Male Singapore citizen by Birth who has a lawful marriage at time of minor's birth 2.Male Singapore citizen by Registration who has a lawful marriage at time of minor's birth and minor does not acquire citizenship of the country he was born by reason of his birth in that country 3.Female Singapore citizen by Birth and minor born on or after 15 May 2004 4.Female Singapore citizen by Registration and minor born on or after 15 May 2004. Minor shall not acquire citizenship of the country he was born by reason of his birth in that country 5.Male (who has a lawful marriage at time of minor's birth) or Female Singapore citizen by Descent has to declare their residence period in Singapore. Do you see any of the above that you or your PRC girlfriend might be eligible for an applicaiton? However, I would be please to propose an alternative route: Gaining Malaysian citizenship A person can become a citizen of Malaysia either by registration or naturalization. In cases by registration, where a person is by operation of law is a citizen but have yet to be registered, such person is entitled to citizenship upon application and be registered as a citizen of Malaysia. For cases by naturalization, this refers to the process of admitting a person not a citizen of Malaysia to citizenship. This is subjected to the requirements and conditions of the Federal Government. Any person holding Malaysian citizenship is also disallowed to hold any other country's citizenship. Malaysia does not allow dual citizenship. Those applying for citizenship by registration must have "an elementary knowledge of the Malay language". Those applying to become naturalised citizens must have "an adequate knowledge of the Malay language" and have resided in the country for ten of the past twelve years, including the twelve months immediately preceding the application. These requirements are set out by Part III of the Constitution; however, as there is no objective definition of what constitutes elementary or adequate knowledge of Malay, in practice, the tests are often subjective, sometimes even varying in whether a written knowledge of Malay is required. So you know what to do now? Actually what do you want? How to ROM with a PRC or How to gain citizenship? Last edited by Ichigo_Kurosaki; 02-12-2010 at 09:24 PM. |

Re: Need help on citizenship
Thank bro. But if I get Sg citizenship and married her, will she get the permit to stay in Sg even though she is a PRC? She is not a FL (From what i knew) but just a student here. However she is going to graduate from course and no excuse to stay in Sg anymore.
