Stupid PRC boy no need to offer bribe for spot checking hotel
Poly student tries to bribe policeman with $20
AsiaOne | Tue Jun 21 2011 The Chinese student from Temasek Polytechnic attempted to bribe an officer when he was found in a budget hotel room with his girlfriend during a spot check. SINGAPORE - A polytechnic student who was found in a hotel room with his girlfriend was convicted of bribery of a policeman recently. Zheng Lin, a Chinese student from Temasek Polytechnic, attempted to bribe the policeman when his and his girlfriend's particulars were taken down after they were found in a budget hotel together. He has been sentenced to nine months' probation and 130 hours of community service for his offence. The 20-year-old came to Singapore in April last year to study; and had brought his girlfriend Mary to a budget hotel in Chinatown on September 17 last year. Lianhe Wanbao reported that three police officers were conducting spot checks at the budget hotel when they saw Zheng and his girlfriend. Zheng told the police he was was having a meeting with his girlfriend. After the couple's personal details were taken down, Zheng took out $20 and stuffed it into the hands of one of the police officers, requesting them to remove his particulars. He was arrested on the spot. According to the same report, it was not the first time the couple, who met in China, were checking into a hotel for sex. |

Re: Stupid PRC boy no need to offer bribe for spot checking hotel
Imagine this interesting situation where his PRC gf tells him there's no need to pay $20. The police will just check and let them go. The guy will probably ask the gf... 'how you know?' right?
20 year old kid panicking in a foreign land. Understandable lah, cultural boo-boo. If no one tells us to put $50 ringgit into my passport when our cars are stopped on the North-South highway, we wouldn't know too right? |
