Thumbs up 2 charged over Cathay Cineleisure Orchard attack. Guess the race

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

Mizra Abdul Azman, 23, and Muhammad Fahmi Razali, 20, are alleged to have been members of an unlawful assembly with three others to cause hurt to NSF Wilson Siau 20, while armed with a parang each at 9.12pm at Grange Road.

SINGAPORE - In response to the slashing at Orchard Cineleisure on Saturday 15 June 2013, the Criminal Investigation Department had taken over investigations and with the assistance of Police Intelligence Department, have arrested 9 subjects, aged between 20 to 22 years old, over the past 2 days for involvement in the incident.

Preliminary investigations indicate that at least 2 of the subjects were armed with weapons during the incident but investigations against all the subjects are ongoing.

Assistant Director of the Specialised Crime Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Deputy Assistant Commissioner Sekher Warrier warned that "Police take a very stern approach towards such lawless and thuggish behaviour. Persons involved in such cases must be prepared to face the full brunt of the law. Possession of offensive weapons in public is an offence which carries an imprisonment term up to 3 years and caning, while anyone convicted of rioting with deadly weapons can be imprisoned up to 10 years and caned. Where cases involve secret societies, the police may also invoke the Criminal Law (Temporary Provisions) Act against the perpetrators".

Police will be increasing our enforcement efforts to target youth crime in light of the school holiday period to prevent youths from becoming victims of crime as well as to detect and arrest youth offenders. This includes patrols and enhanced checks on youths at known congregation areas and crime prone areas e.g. void decks and shopping malls to prevent, deter and detect youth crimes.
