Steven Goh’s new app, anyone tried?
An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
Maker of Getgom creates Jerky, a porn browser for Android devices that helps users bypass filters and access blocked sites Mobile is king, so say marketers and publicists across the globe as they look towards appifying services and products once dominant on web platforms. Porn is no different. A year ago, e27 reported on Getgom (which stands for Get Go-Away-MDA), a Chrome extension which helped netizens in Singapore bypass filters set up by the Media Development Authority in the city-state. Later, the creator of Getgom, Steven Goh, wrote to this author to share how the extension is doing, especially after implementing monetisation plans. He also managed to launch the service in the UK where it is aptly named ‘Go Away Cameron’ for the Prime Minister’s battle against pornographic material online. Last week, Goh launched Jerky, an app which helps Android users go incognito, bypass filters and access blocked sites. Furthermore, only the user will be able to open the app on the device as it is protected by a password. At a glance, Jerky has 70 reviews on Google Play so far, and has a rating score of 4.6 stars. On the home screen, the app icon reads, “Beef Jerky” which will probably mislead friends and family who play with the app to think it’s a cooking or recipe app. However, the service is not free, even though it comes with a 30-day free trial. To bypass content filters, the user will have to pay S$0.99 a month. Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
