SINGAPORE — A branch fell along 80 Bendemeer Road this morning (May 22), injuring a woman in her early 30s.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), which received a call at 9.46am and dispatched an ambulance to the location, said the woman was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

An eyewitness who had seen the woman lying unconscious on the road while riding on a double decker bus called the MediaCorp hotline to report the incident.
When TODAY arrived at the scene at 10.40am, the police had already arrived and construction workers were working to remove the branch.
“It has been very hot in the morning lately and also raining frequently. Maybe the branch broke because the weather is too dry.” said Ms Marilyn Tng, a 49-year-old receptionist who works at a shop across Bendemeer Road. “This is very dangerous for passersby.”
A female bystander in her 60s who requested anonymity said those walking along that stretch of the road would probably “have to be more careful from now on.”
The branch fell from one of seven trees in the Kallang Industrial Estate, which is managed by JTC Corporation. JTC performs an inspection on the trees once a year to ensure that they are in good health. Police said the cause of the accident is still unknown and investigations are ongoing.
