IDA’S POOR GOVERNANCE HAS FAILED SINGAPOREANS Post date: 23 Apr 2015 - 4:06pm In comparison - YAHOO case study: Fake Degrees, Proper Corporate & Organisational Governance Everyone knows Yahoo as the earlier search engine and current ex-Googler Marissa Mayer taking over the company to rescue it and it’s value. But before her there was another famous US corporate famous CEO Scott Thompson who had a good track record with other famous companies who became CEO of Yahoo. But he was fired and replaced by the Yahoo Board in 2014 ard May as he was exposed to have lied and made a false declaration on his resume, faking a degree he did not have in computer science. An activist investor Dan Loeb (CEO of Third Point, A Hedge Fund Firm) joined the Yahoo Board and exposed him. Dan Loeb was instrumental in hiring Marissa Mayer later for Yahoo. References: http://readwrite.com/2012/05/16/the-...-ceo-got-fired http://money.cnn.com/2012/05/13/technology/yahoo-ceo-out/ Point: Even in famous companies and in the highest positions, resume frauds and sinister people with fraudulant intent to cheat with fake degrees and qualifications exist. In the case of Singapore’s IDA where a staff has been exposed to have a fake degree, IDA, which is a Government Statutory Board, has not fired the fraudulant staff. Such poor governance and management show a complete lack of integrity and transparency. If Yahoo as a reputable global company is able to fire their fraudulant CEO immediately upon the discovery of a faked degree or qualification on his padded resume, why can’t IDA and the rest of the companies exposed with hiring fake degree holders do the same? YAHOO risked it’s share value and market impact on it’s share stock which is heavily traded as listed and highly monitored. Yet Yahoo still kept a high governance and integrity well above that of IDA, which has miserably failed Singaporeans.
