By Sumisha Naidu POSTED: 15 Jun 2015 20:00 KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian minister was being investigated by police on Monday (Jun 15) after he said he would "whack" a crown prince who had criticised Prime Minister Najib Razak. On a post to his football team's Facebook page, the Crown Prince of the southern state of Johor slammed Mr Najib for not showing up to "Nothing to Hide" on Jun 5 - what was meant to be a no-holds barred questions-and-answer session between NGOs and the Prime Minister. Police said they had advised the Mr Najib not to attend due to security concerns. But some, including Prince Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, were sceptical. "How can you have a dialogue called Nothing2Hide featuring a person who has everything to hide? Obviously he won't show up," he wrote. Mr Najib has come under fire for his role in state investment firm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), which had raked up billions of dollars in debt. This was expected to be a key topic at the failed forum. In response to the Crown Prince's comments, Culture and Tourism Minister Nazri Aziz was quoted by The Star as saying: "He should keep out of politics because otherwise, he will be subject to the same rule and we will whack him ... Rulers and royal families are above the law. “If you want to be a politician then say so, so we can hit you back for what you say. But if you hold an important post, as a royalty in a state and start saying things, if we hit you back, don't get angry." Police confirmed Mr Nazri was being investigated for inciting public mischief under the Penal Code. The Crown Prince had also taken to Facebook to hit back at Mr Nazri, writing: "You are a minister, not a God from the heavens who lords above everybody. If I got such a reply, then what chances do the rest of the rakyat have?" Prince Tunku Ismail also wrote: “Do not use me to divert the attention from national issues. This country needs politicians who are clean and transparent, who carry out their duties with sincerity and integrity." Meanwhile, Prime Minister Najib had reportedly met with division chiefs from his party UMNO to update and reassure them on 1MDB's status over the weekend. One UMNO member told reporters Mr Najib had promised the fund's problems would be resolved by the end of the year. Investigations were still ongoing into allegations of financial mismanagement. The Auditor-General will present his interim report findings on 1MDB's accounts to the Public Accounts Committee by the end of June, but the findings of the interim report will not be made public. ------ i think pinkie better take 1 year leave until the bugger simmer down.
