Thumbs up DVD Collection of Singapore's Greatest Hero! Buy One Set Today! Ah Gong! Ah Gong!

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

SINGAPORE: MediaCorp is making available on DVD, a collection of programmes about Singapore’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew in conjunction with the celebration of Singapore’s 50th year of independence, the company announced on Friday (Jul 31).

These programmes were broadcast on MediaCorp’s free-to-air channels during the period of national mourning following his death on Mar 23. Since then, MediaCorp has received requests from members of the public to offer the programmes on DVD for purchase.

Forging a Nation and In His Own Words are being released in the week before Singapore celebrates its National Day on Aug 9.

Forging a Nation is a compilation of 15 clips, each about five minutes in duration. They illustrate the events that led to Singapore’s independence, the immediate challenges it faced as a fledgling nation and how it overcame the odds to become the nation it is today. It is available for public sale from Aug 1 and retails at S$26.90.

In His Own Words is a six-part series of excerpts from key speeches made by Mr Lee over the years, covering various themes close to his heart. This will go on sale from Aug 7 and retails at S$27.90.

Both series are packaged in a special four-disc box set edition in four languages – English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. They will be available at Poh Kim outlets.

In April this year, MediaCorp released Time Nor Tide, a three-part documentary commemorating Mr Lee’s life and legacy on DVD as well.
