Sinkies Find 150 Defects In Sengkang BTO! New Record Set?
An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
AsiaOne December 17, 2015 A female homeowner found over 150 defects in her new Build-to-Order (BTO) flat in Sengkang, reported Lianhe Wanbao. Miss Su, 43, spent close to $300,000 on her new flat at Fernvale Link Block 468B and has found 12 pages of defects in the four-room unit. The house was bought for his family and they were hoping to move in before Chinese New Year which falls on Feb 8, 2016. The manager said the keys were ready for collection in April, but as some of the roads and facilities downstairs were not yet completed, she only got the keys at the end of October. When she surveyed the house, she found many problems. Listing them all out, she found 156 defects, that is 12 pages worth of large and small issues. Her brother, Mr Su, 38, highlighted the problems during a tour of the unit. The master bedroom has the most with 22 defects, while the least - the iron gate has six. Both bedrooms have 19 and 28 respectively, while the kitchen was found with 21 problems. Mr Su, who works in the F&B industry, did not turn on the lights when he entered the unit. Instead, he took out a small flashlight and shined it on the walls and ceilings of the living room and the bedroom. The paint job is evidently corrugated, he claimed. He explained: "This is due to the uneven cement walls which is usually hard to spot. My friend who works in design taught me how to see them." In the living room, he showed how there is a gap between the window and window frame, which can cause rain water to seep into the house and onto the floor. Other problems around the house include cracks and holes around the walls, many paint stains, various degree of rust and peeling paint on the doors, and even a missing toilet lid, according to Mr Su. He and his sister noted down all the defects so they can present them to the Building Services Centre. Repairs not done properly According to the Chinese newspaper, the Building Services had sent workers to fix the defects twice but Mr Su said only about 40 per cent has been repaired. Mr Su is hoping that Housing Development Board (HDB) will assist and does not feel that they are being nitpicky. He said: "If you spend more than $20 million to buy luxury car, but found that there are body rust, stripped paint and other issues - would you accept it?" Wanbao has contacted HDB but there has not been a reply yet. [email protected] http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/th...lat#xtor=CS1-2 Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
