Thumbs up Kid memorizes dad's Apple ID password, spends US$5,900 on playing Jurassic World

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

If your kid has a good memory, you may want to avoid sharing or letting him/her see your Apple ID password.

Faisall, a seven-year-old boy from Crawley, England, apparently memorized his father (Mohamed Shugaa)'s Apple ID password and made multiple purchases on the iPad.

Faisall was playing the iTunes game Jurassic World on the iPad and made 65 transactions in six days to upgrade the dinosaurs in the game. The total cost of his purchases was £4,000 (~US$5,900)! Instead of taking responsibility for his son's actions, Mohamed blamed Apple for not doing enough to stop these transactions.

Metro.co.uk - Mohamed said: ‘I was so mad. I’m 32 years old, why would Apple think I would be spending thousands of pounds on buying dinosaurs and upgrading a game? ‘Why didn’t they email me to check I knew these payments were being made? I got nothing from them. How much longer would it have gone on for?

While Apple Support initially declined his demand for a refund, the company decided to refund the money after Mohamed shared that the money was needed to buy Christmas gifts for his children. If his iPad supports Touch ID, we would suggest that the security feature be enabled immediately to prevent such incidents from happening again.

If you're concerned about your kid(s) accidentally making purchases on your iOS device, head over to Apple Support where there is a step-by-step guide on enabling Restrictions (Parental Control) on your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
