AirAsia passengers raise stink after flight diverted twice over medical emergencies

AirAsia passengers raise stink after flight diverted twice over medical emergencies KUALA LUMPUR — Several AirAsia passengers from Malaysia bound for Australia kicked up a fuss after having to spend more than 24 hours in Bali after their flight was diverted there twice due to two separate medical emergencies. Australian news site 9news.com.au reported that Flight D7206 left Kuala Lumpur on Monday night (Feb 15), bound for the Gold Coast in Australia with the arrival scheduled at 7.50am local time on Tuesday, but was forced to land on the Indonesian island two hours into the flight, because a passenger on board had been vomiting blood, according to another passenger. The ill passenger disembarked and the plane took off yesterday morning, but was forced to return to Bali after another passenger fell sick. Indonesian officials reportedly then refused to let the plane leave when several passengers on the flight by the Malaysian airline booked and boarded alternative flights. 9news.com.au reported a passenger as saying that AirAsia did not provide passengers food or water while they waited the first time the plane landed in Bali. “We waited on the plane for two hours until taking off again, the staff were not informed of anything going on and refused to give us complimentary water or food while we waited,” the unnamed passenger told 9news.com.au. “Flew another two hours towards Australia and had to emergency land for the second time back to Bali due to another sick passenger. “They have now told us that we have not gained clearance from the airport to leave. Passengers from yesterday have booked and boarded alternative flights and in order for our plane to leave, according to Indonesian law, we must leave with the same amount of people we arrived and all passengers must be accounted for,” the passenger added.
