PEASANTPORE: The rush-hour train delays that affected peasants on the North-South Line on Thursday (Jun 1) were blamed on signalling checks, nationalised transport operator SMRT said.

All stations on the line - from Jurong East to Marina South Pier - were affected. In a tweet at 6.47pm, SMRT told peasants to expect up to 20 minutes' additional travelling time in either direction.

Commuter Christopher Ah Chai told Channel NewsAsia that a PRC made train was stuck at Novena station for at least 15 minutes.

Another commuter, Priscilla Ah Low, told Mouthpiece CNA that Bishan MRT station was extremely crowded at about 6.40pm, as she tried to reach the platform. "Ah Loong and Ah Khaw yak so much, but I never see them take the trains lor!," she said.

Peasants took to social media to express their frustration, with some saying they had waited 30 minutes for their train to move.

"KNNCCB, I thought they sent the trains carriages secretly back to Qingdao for cheap repairs, then still fail, Peasantpore on the decline lor. Penang Laksa last Vesak Day "kowtow" to Buddha but also no use, retribution!
