Just came back from a 1 night stay at I-hotel Baloi and deliberately went over to Formosa to apply for free membership. Have a short brief by Alvin, filled in the form and waited for a while before I received the membership card. All this for less than 10 mins. Excellent job by Alvin, Formosa. Also have to thank you for the good info sharing as my main objective is to check out this massage in hotel room during Ramadan month.

Went up to King, ask for therapist to do 'Kuat' (strong) massage and showed them the member card. Straight away giving me No. 18, Mila, that she is good and also gotten 10% discount. Was led one floor down and walking along the corridor give me a nice old feeling, probably due to the 1970/80 designed and incandescent light matching on a red carpeted floor. Inside the room is a little rundown especially the bathroom. Have a good rub down by Mila, very relaxing but was constantly disturbed by the movement of the piling machine. So, for those who are staying at Rm 343, 337 block really have a hard time relaxing.

Mila told me she started work at 9 am and finished at 6pm. I was her 1st customer at 3 pm during this Ramadan month. Throughout this Ramadan month, some days, she don't even have 1 customer to massage. This was also echoed the boss of a massage shop behind Formosa, telling me "no business" as less customers are coming.

Yes,bro. The massage girls there are mostly of an older age (mostly 30 plus of age). But at times,they may occasionally have younger or better looking older girls. I am curious so I actually called Formosa hotel to find out about the on going construction building behind Formosa. The staff answer and I was told that the building will be an apartment/condomium build to be sold. The owner/developer of the new building is the owner of Formosa hotel who is a Taiwanese. He further commented that the new building will not be link to formosa hotel.

All i can say is it was a different thing told to me nearly 2 years ago by Sinta,Ramzi,Ray and Kusno ;and the tenants of some of the shops in the hotel. Then again,they arent the developer,the boss,its partners nor the landowner (neither am i),just listen base on hearsay i guess. Like i say earlier,the decision-maker/s could have decide to change their mind from time to time regarding these matters since they didnt know they could eventually build a 30+ storeys building during the landscaping at that time (thats according to news article).

Correct. Kind of like their new look today and i believe,there will be more changes in the making.

Therefore I guess unlikely Formosa hotel will be closed in the near future as the hotel have already spent some money on the repainting as well as upgraded some of its hotel rooms, toilets, VIP massage room,restaurant. Its business is growing and earning good money from kings massage, alisan KTV, hotel rooms and the restaurants and unlikely the boss wants to give up the business.

I believe i should be the last person here who wish to see Formosa closed down. Its my Batam 1st hotel which i stayed in. Besides all the good memories,I have been served like a prince there nearly all the time,i have access to so many goodies there most other customers couldnt have. Those who has been to Batam with me will know,i practically knew most of the staffs there from their technician to the housekeepers,security guards,room service staffs,IT technicians,massage girls,some KTV girls (and Mamis) etc etc (not counting the ground floor receptionist,marketing staffs,restaurant waiters/waitress/manageress,bellboys etc). Some even knows that i can walk to "my room" blindfolded from the 1st floor stairway,hehehe.. (not exactly 100% blindfold tho,i peeped..hehehe..)

Its also my Batam school of newbie cheongsters where most of my 29 trips of Batam travelling history were written with more than 50 bros i knew in person from this forum itself has stayed there alongside me before,hehehe...when i hear that it maybe closed down during then,i also must standby in case one day if it really does. So i find the need to prepared at least 1 or 2 hotels that were close to Formosa's proximity that has similar things of what i am looking for in Batam.

From another angle of view,i often recommend Formosa Hotel if any newbie seek my advise but i also recommend them to move out of formosa once they "graduated",hehehe...my reason is simple,so not everyone will crowd in this newbie hotel (my perspective) and makes it harder for myself to book the room/s from there in future. Another thing will be they need to seek out what they enjoyed most in Batam,have their own definition of the best hotel accommodation,best bonk,best type/s of Batam girl/s,most wanted fetish,best food etc etc. They have to venture out on their own thereafter.

Many like when i 1st started, who has never been to Batam before, stayed in Formosa Hotel as their 1st.

Lucky plaza has also a large pool of customers with good business but the building seems to look abit rundown and therefore there may be a possibility that it will be taken over.

The plot of land has already been bought over together with Center point mall,Formosa hotel etc (i hear). I dont know how the Batam shop-leasing-system works,maybe the lease not up yet or they got an extension for another donkey years? I remember seeing quite a handful of shops like New Berlian,the older Zhi Char store and some other shops moving off in that area about a year ago. But today,i see new zhi char store,a 24 hour alfa mart,hair salons,provision store/s and other shops starting to emerge from that area. Not forgetting the price increase in Mickey Mouse Bak Kut Teh too.

That could be a sign.

As for centrepoint, there is a high chance that it will be bought over by new developers since it has been vacant.

My hearsay info about the land bought over in that area started from the HP shop in Centerpoint who happens to have a few branches of shops at Lucky Plaza, Nagoya Hill Mall,DC Mall etc. They already closed down their shop in Centerpoint for quite a while. Even heard Center point are likely to turn into a hotel. Like i say,i am just hearsaying....nothing i can do about it as i arent no final decision-maker of the land except to prepare myself if things of the hearsay really happens.

Whatever changes that come,live still goes on... ;)

Now there is a high rise building that is over 30 storey high which is called Nagoya Mansion Hotel and Residence which a part of the building consists of studio apartments for sale.

The average sale price of the studio apartment at Nagoya Mansion Apartment is 550 juta = S$55000 and the rental per month is 5.5 to 6 juta = S$550 to S$600 .

Below is the pic of the studio apartment of Nagoya Mansion (28 sqm= 301 sq feet) which is located behind Nagoya hill mall.

I have asked the agent that Singaporean is eligible to buy and most of the units have been sold. Quite a number sold to sporean and hong kong people.

Maybe the Formosa boss noted that there is not many high rise apartments in Nagoya area vicinity and can foresee a good opportunity to make good money by selling apartment units and that could be the reason why he decided to build Formosa Residence since the Formosa/luckyplaza/centrepoint is a prime area like the orchard road of spore.

Honestly speaking,for my case the saving isnt significant yet. I am currently at "Farming" stage for more things to come with that membership card thingy in hope by then they (Formosa) still honor their end of the bargain as I have planned further...hehehe...

1) Get % discount from king massage, KTV and Restaurant

Whether have % discount for KTV or not doesnt matter becos i still get Gold card % off with or w/o having one,hehehe...

I rarely eats in Vienna restaurant itself unless its free and occasionally i do drop into Tea Story or order their room service food. (Their Japanese Curry rice was good!)

But the massage will be an entirely different story if i reach Gold Card level. When i get to gold card level,i wont be just sticking to the normal type of massage and i wont be staying in Formosa hotel to get the offer,hehehe...not going to elaborate further now (it will be in another later post).

2) Free night stay after accumulated a certain points

This is an eat the pig and pay the dog situation from my point of view. I think hotel.com works better with the same marketing. Well,at least one doesnt have to be bind to staying in one named hotel all the time. One can stays in other hotels when they book via hotel.com,accumulated the points and eventually get a free room stay.

3) Cheaper room rate than KAHA and hotel booking web-site on weekday/weekend

Yes,but only applicable for deluxe room. Thats why its not attractive to me. I am still bargaining with them for better rates on other room types for my future trips,hehehe...

In one of my summary,i was talking about getting a better bargain for a certain "other room type" in Formosa Hotel. Already got it,but Kaha still offered me better. I am working to get them to re-define their room and at better rates to oust their competitors. They have a good advantage over many things in their field of business and many a time they put themselves in such bad position which they didnt even realized it. And i am trying to help them understand some of those points that should work towards my own future advantage of course,hehehe...

In the past before the free membership took its place today,they have this pay 400k rupiah and get a 450k voucher for the membership.Which is already a good enough promo for the hotel on a one time thingy.But it is still afterall a one time thing, I told them that the promo will eventually died off becos of the lack on "sustainability". They want members,becos they are looking for Regulars. But with that promo,they are not creating regulars to come back again,becos like i said previously,its only a One time thingy (they are just creating one time customer/s). Privileges for members simply werent attractive enough. If they want "members" to become regulars, then they have better add more prizes for being one.

Of the 50 over friends I knew in Batam from this forum,how many actually goes back to stay in Formosa again? I would say no more than 20% becos I don't encourage them to,hehehe....i dont stay in Formosa all the time too.

4) Late check out - this is important as you need not rush to check out after you had a heavy lunch and can take your time to check out slowly..

With or w/o the membership,i am still able to check out very late. Later than the latest stated time for member,hehehe...its just manners and being considerate to keep them informed that i will or will not be checking out late. Or if i have friends with me,i will usually check out earlier and move to my friend's room (or my friends moved to my room) ;and return them their room/s so that other guest/s can have their room/s on time.

Although free transport to ferry terminal and free upgrade of room and free laundry is not that important to me...

Free upgrade is nothing for me,free laundry...well...maybe can try next time to help my girl wash her clothing (extra perks w/o extra cost,hehehe..)

Now free transport to ferry terminal is an entirely different story compared to the above free room upgrade/free laundry. Knowing my methods of travelling well enough,it could also mean in MY FUTURE TRIPS to Batam,i MAY NOT NEED to pay for taxi fare anymore. And this is one of the offer i find attractive in. There has been talks about how cheap one pays for transport in Batam,or how expensive one pays for it. I believe nothing can be cheaper than FREE,hehehe...well,unless i can earn extra money when the taxi driver brings me to where i want him to bring me to (that would be cheaper than free).

Many small discounts from this little special offer can accumulate to become a big saving in the long run.

The discount currently adds up can equates to free movies for 2 w/o the popcorns (maybe plus a small meal),hehehe...but i think i may be a little greedier. Hopefully my "boat" don't capsize,hehehe...

If you are comfortable with this hotel which brings you a lot of good exciting memories, and you have already treated it as your "second home", then quickly get it now since it is still FOC..

To me,all their given perks can add up to become quite a substantial reward ,provided if I can turn it to become my needs. Definitely way beyond just the movie tickets for 2 pax and a meal.

I was in Batam staying at Pacific from 1st to 3rd July with one my Friend. It was tough looking for good girls as most of them went back to their kampong for Raya. My usual OKT also run out girls and tried his best means to get us girls by calling other OKT.

Yes! I suppose, she smartly open the save (somehow knowing the password number) when I was in deep sleep and stole 100 sing dollars. I only realised during breakfast where I count the money in my wallet. Since, I don't have a concrete evidence, I kept quiet.

Second day, my Friend extend Rini. I was looking for girls thru my agent and it was really hard. Finally one girl arrive to my room. She is totally not from my OKT as my OKT said it was thru contact to contact. Third or fourth party. This girl never came alone but she come with a muscular
guy. He demand 1.5 million plus 100k for his petrol. I paid him. He left.

This muscular guy, by the name of Marine (came to know his name thru my regular OKT later) insist 130 sing dollars for forcing the girl to perform BJ. He also told the security that I hit him first. The girl support his statement. I was frustrated.

My Friend do not want to persuit the problem further, he request me to give the money he want. I gave 100 dollars and my Friend gave 30 dollars to him. Marine and the girls left the room.

The hotel security ask me to report the matter to police as he saw I have swell on my forehead and cheek. I told him it's ok, going to police have to go hospital for checks and so on and forth. A Long procedure.

I believe strongly in Karma and be very sure that he will be punished and the girl will be cheated by others.

So Bros, be careful in taking girls from OKT whom you don't know or girls on pub. It happened to me and do not want our Singapore Bros to go through the pain I went through.

Yes, i rate both 9. The reason is actually base on what you want. What your objective of the trip. Nagoya, make me save all my transport. Everything, eat, shop, can be done there within walking distance. There is a special link way to the mall too and is rather to high end stay.

What you say is true. From another perspective,Nagoya Hill hotel do help you save some transport costs.

Da vienna is also good for a normal saty, for 600K which is about 60buck in sing, you can get a suite room that is very cheap and budget liao to me.

Once a person can conquer the distance of travelling from point A to point B and then to point C (and so on) in Batam. Other hotels with good unique in-room facilities should no longer pose as a problem. Harmoni One would be a good example. If i plan to cook a little,i may stay in Harmoni Suite. If i plan to have a big spacious room,i go for Executive suite at Da Vienna,Biz,maybe even Hans Inn's Suite room...hehehe...i am now looking for other types of Batam hotel room to stay in.

To each his own, i may think this way, other may think otherwise.

Definitely,but for every good for a hotel (in this conversation,the carpet),there isalways the same thing that is not-so-good. Odour very much often gets suck into the carpet whenever there's air con and over the years,it keeps adding up resulting in heavier odour,insect breeding etc,thats if proper maintenance isnt carried out regularly.

Formosa Deluxe is 30 square metre whereas Da Vienna Deluxe is 24 square metre - Formosa win (bigger floor size by 6 m2)

Hehehe...who wouldnt like a bigger room. But like i say earlier,if there is a good in something ,there will always be a direct opposite of a 'not-so-good' for the same "something". In this case,a bigger floor space requires stronger air con and a more well-ventilated air circulation,therefore a handful of deluxe room in Formosa is not well air-conditioned enough,hence the small handful of complain from some guests that their air con isnt cold enough,yet at times become freezingly cold during the night.

I knew the above theory well enough hence i often ask for a superior-sized room (smaller than the deluxe size) in Formosa rather than getting the deluxe 30 sqm sized room,hehehe...

Formosa Deluxe toilet provide tap spray for manually wash backside after pass motion.

Da Vienna Deluxe toilet bowl inside has a nozzle that will spray clean water onto the ass hole of the hotel guest to help to wash clean clean the backside after pass motion - Da Vienna win

I believe this part is quite subjective. I for one wouldnt like the idea of some water jet shooting into my ass hole to wash my butt for me.

I am not a believer of all good and no-bad in almost everything (vice versa). I love to look on the both side of the coin in Formosa Hotel and Da Vienna Hotel.

Let me start from walking into the hotels...

1. From the moment i walked into the hotel premises,i was greeted all the way from the carpark of Formosa hotel (tax drivers and security guard outside) to its glass door (bell boys and security guards inside) and then to the reception counter (the receptionist). Seriously,i dont see that in most other hotels in Batam (except Biz so far),not even Da vienna Hotel.

2. Checking in into Formosa hotel,i do not require myself to put down an upfront deposit when i choose to leave my passport with them. In Da Vienna,i do not have a choice. I MUST put down 300k rupiah deposit and they wont hold on to my passport as their reception counter is too open to the extend that anyone could just walked-in.

3. The Da Vienna receptionist were always busy. A busier receptionists tends not to offer more personal touch service (please note here that i am not implying Da Vienna dont provide good service,in fact they fare way better than many 3 star plus hotels in Batam). I deduce why they were busier becos they have poorer coordination with the housekeeping staffs in other floors. When rooms were ready,reception wasnt notified hence the later check-in for most guests. And with most guests kept in the waiting area,and later almost all of them coming in to check in at a certain same timing (say 1pm to 2pm),how not to be busy.

4. Corridor up to the room,take a look. Why have smoking room on a non-smoking floors. Junior suite room on the 9th floor is a smoking room,but it has a non-smoking corridor and 8th floor has a smoking corridor,but most of the junior suite there were non-smoking room. Isnt that ironical.

Smoking corridor has an ash tray outside the lift,non-smoking corridor also has a ash tray at the same place but it says 'No Smoking'.

5. Upon entering the room,in my case a smoking room. A strong stench of cigarette odour emerge upon opening the door in Da Vienna. I dont have this problem in Formosa smoking room. Do note that the strong cigarette odour from the nose of a smoker and a non-smoker is different.If a smoker says the odour of cigarette smell is thick in a smoking room,it really is. Non smoker/s will most unlikely be able to take it.

* the issue of a strong cigarette odour in most hotel room/s can be resolve at most time by simply turning on the air con with windows and doors opened up for about 5 to 10 mins.

6. As Formosa is an older hotel,always check its flush on its toilet bowl. I have encounter several issue on its flush not flushing whats its suppose to be flushed away completely.

7. TV Programs,apparently both hotels has the same channels but Da Vienna Hotel being newer and taller in building height has a stronger signal.

8. Internet wifi and LAN :

a. Da Vienna has more rooms,more rooms (176) equates to more guests,more guest equates more people logging into its wireless routing. And they seems to be able to take that impact of more users. Strong wifi signal in most rooms,i must say. The bad,their LAN on the hotel dont work.When i ask them to come to fix it,they came,but left w/o fixing the problem.

b. Formosa has lesser room (110),but the structure of their hotel building disallow their newly set up wireless routing to cover all their rooms with stong signal. The LAN port on their wall works,if it doesnt,i call them and they will fix it before they leave. This hotel has a stronger IT team.

9. Security,i think i shant comment on this one becos i have yet to know a hotel in Batam that can beat Formosa base on my knowledge on their securty surveillance,hehehe...and i am not afraid to pass my room key to my girl,allowing her to walk in and out freely even when i am not in room.

10. Now i did a final fussy-customer test. I call housekeeping number,reception and order their food on both hotels. Both hotels pass the quick response timing test,the ask for "anything thats free" test,fixing a light bulb test. But i must say Formosa actually scored higher in this aspect. But i do note that Da Vienna is 7 floors taller than Formosa Hotel. (1 is 4 storey in height and the other is 11)

11. Da Vienna definitely beats Formosa in terms of breakfast base on its varieties. I am a eat to live person,so i am giving more points to the Da Vienna in this one. Man's meat and theory applies.

12. Checking out was a breeze for both hotel. BUT! I am already a season guest in Formosa,i checked out like a prince,hehehe...and i can choose to check out so late that most hotel will charge me half a day stay for it. Its not a fair comparison on this one.

13. Da Vienna Hotel is a hot place to stay among many Sillyporean Chinese,in fact there seems to be too many of them. It goes to show their marketing strategy works since Sillyporean were their primary targeted guests. But with more Chinese Sillyporean in a hotel,the atmosphere becomes different. Like during breakfast,i see people 'speed-walking',bragging loudly and i hear complains about this no good,that no good blah blah blah. Not to mention i am likely to see a familiar face while i was holding a girl's hand whenever i walk out of the hotel too. Formosa Hotel however has a fair share of different mixed nationalities with lesser percentage of Sillypore families comparing with Da Vienna. Biz tho they have many Sillyporean,but i do not see many Chinese Sillyporean (mostly other races).

I am comparing mainly both hotels from the moment i walked in,to the moment i checked out on a mindset when i stayed there for the 1st time.

Just my own point of comparison.

I have been to batam at least 5 counts since the beginning of the year. But I realize the seniority or how experience you are, once you are at the place where out of Singapore it does not correlate. A danger is bound to exist.

A lesson well learnt and vow not to hire FL anymore. If I decide to travel to batam, definitely not now! I will pick up girls from farms. They are safe and has the farm OKT to ensure certain level of safety..

To be honest, when I saw those ugly photos posted here some days ago, even before knowing they (or one of them) are professional scammers in agreement with some local bandit, I thought "How the heck could one pay a premium price to stay with this kind of low-level ugly women in Batam??" :eek:

So, how much I would rate them? Just enter one of the main joints (Bunga, Happy, Sedona, etc. etc. etc.) and look around. Ladies with that look are usually priced in range 600k-800k (booking rate). No more than that.

I could enumerate the various mistakes made by Mr. Donkan (not to blame you my friend! You have my solidarity, really! I feel so much sympathy for you. Just to list lessons learned to avoid others repeat the same), which led to that unfortunate ending, but the first of them was to accept to overpay 1.5M for women that in Bunga would have been offered for 1M or less. Just that should have demonstrated that the source was not trustable, neither friendly, since the beginning.

Luckily no police,or else I am anticipating further trouble if the police knows you, your friend, who happens to also know Marine,Mila and your friend's girl were on drugs and also with the likelihood that they might have the "tools" for taking drugs with them being found on them. Not counting they will surely point their fingers at you and/or your friend.

Just count the amount of laws you can be frame to have broken, that's excluding paying for sex during Ramadan month.

3. Never keep all money in one place

4. Don't show the girls I can afford to spend (being stingy like me isn't all that bad huh?Hehehe...being stingy but yet being a nice guy helps me a long way)

5. Never count/show money in public places especially with surrounding people I don't know well enough (this should apply all over the world during travelling)

This place is one of the top notch spa resort in Batam. Think i may likely go check if Kaha is having special price for their room type soon. Seems to me this place's business not as good as Montigo. So the chance for a better price maybe higher. Reviews however were mostly good. (it has to be, for that type of price) but i usually try to look into the not-so-good point of view instead.

Booking.com going at S$241.00 per night stay inclusive tax. S$296.00 per night for a better version of their room.

The Spa was deserted as I walked about checking out the rooms again and I supposed this is going to be the way for the rest of the weekday, maybe (not sure) with exception of weekday night and weekend. The Spa Manager was exceptionally eager to serve me and very determined to get a deal done. She offered the normal discounts which I have turned down as I have plan to do massage at Devata, Marianne or Sakura. She further proposed Rp 270k for 1.5 hours aroma massage which I have also turned down. For around Rp 280k, I can get a 2 hours massage + body scrub at Marianne, Sakura or even Devata. She continued with her best effort persuasion cum pestering, and I proposed a 30 mins body scrub in addition to the 1.5 hrs aroma massage at Rp 270k. She agreed without much hesitation.

Maybe one day i have to go there to try out their massage,at the same time propose to them (Vienna Spa Massage) what other massage places were actually offering. For me,I simply dial King Massage and call for a 2 hour massage into my Da vienna room which will cost me 250k rupiah (and not thats not adding in my membership discount,hehehe..). I do have a small collection of other massage shops doing outcall massage service and they are about Kings-after-discount pricing too.

If i cant be near to a massage shop i like in another hotel i stayed in,i bring the massage shops to me. I have been working on this for a while now and there are still many flaws to rectify.

So, I told her I will ask for 2 pm check out and if it is possible, I will come back straightaway and if not possible, I will check out and come back for the spa treatment.

For Rp 270k, a 2 hrs massage + body scrub seems reasonable. I have a few incidents where some bros who joined me in my group trip thought they have some missing Indo rupiah. When i ask them to double check,did they then realize that that they had spent it. We counted together the total amount of money that we have changed,the amount of money where we later spent on,and end up only to realize that "he" had spent on some small items like groceries,tippings etc. So i always advise them to check and double check the money they change and how they spent it on.

Another incident was when a bro thought he loses his wallet upon returning from NED only to realize later that he did not bring his wallet out of the hotel room. Not forgetting in my much earlier trip,one of my friends who drop a stack of about S$3k at the reception area and only realize it when the receptionist brought it up to my room when we were having our TCSS.

What i am trying to say here is, always double check our own money. Dont count money/sort out money in public area openly,dont leave wallets or anything where money or valuable is concern unattended to unless its being lock safely away (locking away isnt 100% foolproof either). One of my friend recently got reprimanded by me becos after he changed money from opposite Formosa Hotel,he starts counting and sorting his money while on his way walking back to the hotel. Told him that he either count his money inside the money changer before he goes off or go back to the room then sort it out privately.

Safety 1st,my priority.

Everything is expensive in this place. Maybe one day i have to go there to try out their massage, at the same time propose to them (Vienna Spa Massage) what other massage places were actually offering ....... Even Just-Mine Spa massage pricing from Gideon Hotel could beat Vienna.

In fact many massage places including hotel spa can beat Vienna even if Vienna offered 20% discount. Vienna Spa is definitely one of the most expensive spa in this Nagoya/Baloi area unless they give more than the usual discount as compared to those familiar spa or massage places that you have been.

As the final price that I have gotten was Rp 270k for 2 hrs massage + body Scrub. I compared it with Mariana Spa for the same duration and treatment which cost Rp 280k, nett.

Besides Vienna Spa, Theraz Spa at iHotel Baloi is also an expensive spa costing at least Rp 380k depending on discount for the particular month, sometimes 40%, 25% or 15% and also based on Mon to Thu only.


For me, I simply dial King Massage and call for a 2 hour massage into my Da vienna room which will cost me 250k rupiah (and not thats not adding in my membership discount, hehehe..). I do have a small collection of other massage shops doing outcall massage service and they are about Kings-after-discount pricing too.

You will even have better bargain if you call the therapist directly. Most therapist, if they can click with you, will want to give their contact to you. In a way potong jalan the spa/massage shop. If they are good & hardworking, I don't mind paying them directly, sometimes at a discount.:)

I have a few incidents where some bros who joined me ............ end up only to realize that "he" had spent on some small items like groceries, tippings etc. So i always advise them to check and double check the money they change and how they spent it on. What i am trying to say here is, always double check our own money. Dont count money/sort out money in public area openly, dont leave wallets or anything where money or valuable is concern unattended to unless its being lock safely away (locking away isnt 100% foolproof either).

I did my re-org the night before I went to bed and know exactly what I have counted. I make it a habit to do re-org at the end of each night including packing and arranging my stuff. If someone is with me, I will do my counting in the bathroom and lock it in the safe w/o view from other.

IIRC, most hotel there will allow you to check in early if there is empty room, especially the 2 stars one.

I used to go early, like first ferry, and have no issue checking in early if there is room available. But, whether you check out 7pm same day, or 12 pm next day, it's still charged at 1 day's rate.

If you just need a room for short term rest, then places like Indorasa has room for 3 hours booking at 100K.

Just came back from a 1 night stay at I-hotel Baloi and deliberately went over to Formosa to apply for free membership. Have a short brief by Alvin, filled in the form and waited for a while before I received the membership card. All this for less than 10 mins. Excellent job by Alvin, Formosa. Was led one floor down and walking along the corridor give me a nice old feeling, probably due to the 1970/80 designed and incandescent light matching on a red carpeted floor. Inside the room is a little rundown especially the bathroom. Have a good rub down by Mila, very relaxing but was constantly disturbed by the movement of the piling machine. So, for those who are staying at Rm 343, 337 block really have a hard time relaxing.

Maybe the Formosa boss noted that there is not many high rise apartments in Nagoya area vicinity and can foresee a good opportunity to make good money by selling apartment units and that could be the reason why he decided to build Formosa Residence since the Formosa/luckyplaza/centrepoint is a prime area like the orchard road of spore.

Pros of Da Vienna

1) Da Vienna is a fairly new hotel which was ready to stay during last year June 2015. In terms of all its room types, the junior suite room is the most economical and luxurious to stay. It is much bigger in terms of room space than the deluxe room and the toilet is big and bath tub is good for relax. Carpet to the room gives a more cosy feel. I stay in the junior suite last Dec via Kaha at 610k which is cheaper than the junior suite of Biz (670k kaha) and Formosa (800k member)

2) Since it is new and the design of the room is unique, unlike conventional hotel design, and there are many "walls or partition" can play hide and seek in the pantry, wardrobe, living room, toilet or bed room. Unlike Formosa junior suite, the bedroom, living room and the desk are all in one big space without any partitioning (more boring)

3) Innovative, having sensor touch bedroom lamp with 4 different brightness level to suit individual mood.

4) High technology using automatic toilet bowl spray to clean backside after doing big business.

5) More variety of food/cuisine in terms of breakfast choice as compared with other 3 star hotel.

6) Location is good as it is near to lucky plaza. There is a warung selling tempe goreng between lucky plaza/Da vienna super delicious. Across the street is the famous nasi pandang shop "SERDERHANA".

7) Was given a warm welcome by the receptionist and a complimentary fruit juice drink upon arrival. :)

Just to add to the pros, I personally think its a good hotel for Batam intermediate players who knows their way around. Convenient store is either on the 2nd floor of their hotel or simply walk out of hotel and turn right,there is a 24 hour mart. Opposite is a pharmacy in case one needs to buy "Vitagen",hehehe...not forgetting less than 10 mins walk to Permata Indah if one were to walk really slowly.

Permata Indah is a KTV cum booking joint,and their book out rate were usually no more than 80% at most time,so in case any of my overnight girl/s runaway,can just go there book a lower-priced girl to hug me to bed.

*i dont take their welcome drink at the reception,be it from formosa or da vienna (both hotel also have,be it physical ones or voucher form) for only one reason,becos i dont know if they use mineral water or tap water to make their drinks,hehehe...however if they offer mineral water like those pack in Bubble tea packing,i will take them.

Cons of Da Vienna

1) The hot water to fill up the bath tub of the junior suite stop operating after about 10 mins, from hot become warm become normal water. I think is maybe the central water storage heater is not strong enough to heat up the water continuously. As a result, the water in the bathtub is only luke warm but not hot.

2) The breakfast although more variety but the taste still lose to Formosa breakfast. Formosa breakfast is more towards quality rather than quantity. One example is the Indonesian "curry" cooked in Formosa breakfast is super delicious.

3) Although hotel is new but experience power failure once. The bad experience is compensated by technician attended to the breakdown promptly by reseting the power trip by adjusting the miniature circuit breaker.

4) Vienna massage is expensive, about 300+k per hour massage as compared to King's massage at 100k per hour. This hotel is good if you have your own booking girl. However if your purpose is massage, then Formosa or Utama is a better choice.

Hehehe...no such as a perfect hotel,got pros sure got cons. Got cons will also have pros.

Now for the cons,i would say the personal touch service is still not quite there yet (maybe they are still considered new) and i do have that type of high expectation becos i am so used to staying in Formosa. I have seen better in both Biz and Formosa. Then again,on just their personal-touch service i would rate 7/10 whereas i would rate 9/10 for formosa and 8.5/10 for Biz. Hana Hotel and City Central would be 6.5/10,Gideon 6/10,KTM Resort 7/10,Goodway 6/10 etc.

I recently read a review of a leaking toilet ceiling,room not being sound-proofed and the stolen 2 x S$50 from a bro in this thread. I did not add these to the cons rating.

All the rates will be written the same on every money changer throughout the row of shops there. Always open yr mouth to ask for the rate in any shops & not by just looking at what's being written. They have other competitors to compete with within a less than 5 meter radius. I was at Batam last Sat & the rate at opp Formosa was 9720 even when it's written 9500.

To get good rates,try opening mouth to ask in at least 3 shops nearby & not rely on eye power. First quote from their mouth is always the worst rate. ;)

Bro Nono, a lot of your updates on batam cheong scene has indeed provided a lot of important info for our reference, example:
walking map, massage price at massage centres, photos of products, delicious food, hotel room recommendations, KAHA savings, membership savings, etc and not forgetting sexy cewek pictures you posted hehe

Like I have said earlier,one of my reason for collecting information is mainly for myself. Most others were secondary.

1. The walking map : It is usually circulated around Formosa Hotel,Harbour Bay and BCS Mall. It is mainly becos I know how to walk to this 3 places. It is when i do up the Map,did i realize how centralize Formosa is.

2. Massage places and booking joints prices : Once a foundation base pricing is lay out in an informative forum open. It suffocate the market for people attempting to try to make a profit out from each other. Still able to make money,just not in big profits and not be worth the amount of effort put in.

Example : Massage per hour mostly cost around 50k to 120k rupiah an hour. If i pay more than 200k per hour,then i will feel i am overpaying. If basic hj cost between 100k with another 50k to 100k for some value-added service and i am paying 300k or more for it,then that's not very intelligent of me regardless how pretty the girls were. This theory applies to every other things that is sex-related in Batam for me.

Short time were at most time below 400k for me. It will be rare for me to pay 400k and more. Most time its just 200k to 300k,sometime 350k in men's Spa/hotel where people were paying 700k to 1 million (even for SYT pure breed indo Chinese). I do not have any memory of myself paying more than 350k rupiah for any ST in Batam over my 2 year plus in Batam. Lowest paid ST i remember was 150k from one of the hotel,hehehe...on average, most places cost between 200k to 250k rupiah per FJ. :p

3. Accommodation saving : When I 1st step into Batam in 2014,i stayed in Formosa deluxe room for about S$67 per night. Today...I am sure you know the same hotel same room costing much lesser. Seems to cost lesser each year too yet i am not sacrificing my comfortability in most of the same hotel.

Side note : Being a member in Formosa is still not the cheapest price today,always compare with others source.

4. Cewek picture : I don't think i post any cewek picture I bonked in Batam before. If i did post a picture of a cewek photo,it would most likely be illustration taken from the net.

In general,i believe inflation happens to every country. Price increase is inevitable anywhere but to control the price increase isn't about just going to any internet chatline or forum to make a lot of noise. We share information,try to help and guide one another to understand majority of the basics (eg,how much to pay,how to react/what to do in certain situation etc) and the country's culture. Open up those "base price" in public prefereably with some verification so anyone who are willing to read can know and hopefully understand. Anyone can pay higher or lower than the base price depending on respective individual's pocket and/or intelligence. No one's stopping anyone,hehehe...and thats why beside the collection of information, there are also a lot of 'other things' to learn too.

To date, i dont see any of the bros who has joined me in Batam overpaying. All the rates will be written the same on every money changer throughout the row of shops there. Always open yr mouth to ask for the rate in any shops & not by just looking at what's being written. They have other competitors to compete with within a less than 5 meter radius. I was at Batam last Sat & the rate at opp Formosa was 9720 even when it's written 9500.

Ha! Especially wen the money changer opp is often no more than 5 steps away frm ea other. :D

To get good rates,try opening mouth to ask in at least 3 shops nearby & not rely on eye power. First quote from their mouth is always the worst rate. ;)

3. Accommodation saving : When I 1st step into Batam in 2014,i stayed in Formosa deluxe room for about S$67 per night. Today...I am sure you know the same hotel same room costing much lesser. Seems to cost lesser each year too yet i am not sacrificing my comfortability in most of the same hotel.

Side note : Being a member in Formosa is still not the cheapest price today,always compare with others source...

When I started staying in Formosa in 2012, I remembered the price was always around $60-65 depending on weekday or weekend.

But after several years later, the walk in price reduced to $50+ and now with membership becomes 460k=$47. The price for staying in Formosa gets cheaper over the years and the hotel room is constantly renovating to provide better comfort to hotel guest.

Improvements to toilets and the recent year implementation of wifi in rooms by installing many access points (AP) router to boost wifi signal.

I was wondering where on Earth got such a hotel which charge cheaper and cheaper over the years despite inflation taking place and the hotel also constantly keep improving its facilities...

No wonder Formosa will never be out of business because of its loyal customers over the years

On the other hand, the following is Lailai Mutiara hotel room rate for superior room(the best and most spacious)

170k in Y2007 and then up to

200k in Y2010 and then up again to

230k in Y2012 and then up again to

260k in Y2015 and then after they have installed a new lift and renovate the room cabinets, it becomes

280k in Y2016..

LaiLai cheapest standard room also increase from 180k few years ago to now 250k.

Another example is Lovina inn Nagoya used to charges 230k for standard room but now has raised up to 290k with promotion only.
without promotion is 300+k

Nowadays want to find a hotel below 200k per night at Nagoya area seems a bit difficult as hotels keep revising their hotel room rates...

Just comparing Lovina Inn standard room and Formosa deluxe room.

Nowadays the 1 or 2 star hotel pricing is too close to the 3 star hotel price like Formosa that makes guest decide to stay in 3 star.

Lovina inn standard room with promotion = 290k
Formosa deluxe room with membership = 460k

Not to forget after staying in Formosa for 15 times in deluxe room entitle to a free night stay which mean per night stay one will get a rebate of (460k divide by 15) = 31k.

That means the actual cost of room rate of deluxe room in Formosa is 460k-31k=429k.

Therefore the actual difference between the room rates is 429k-290k=139k.

With this small difference of 139k between Formosa and lovina inn, you get to enjoy:

1) 3 star hotel room interior vs 2 star hotel room interior

2) More spacious room & toilet

3) Better and more variety breakfast food/drink.

4) Carpet vs floor tiles.

5) LED TV vs CRT TV

6) Save on massage fee when calling king's massage service to Formosa room. 2 hours at 180k.
If call massage to lovina inn room is much expensive at 250k for 2 hours.
The saving will be 250k-180k=70k per massage...
If 1 day massage 2 times of 2 hours, already get back the difference of 139k, isn't it, hehe.70kx2=140k

7) Wifi at Formosa stronger signal.

8) Can check out late at 2pm at Formosa vs 12pm at lovina inn.

9) Better hospitality in Formosa that make your stay a pleasant one.

10) The availability of putting your barang barang at the counter safe box in formosa.

With all these factors taking into account very hard to convince myself not to stay in Formosa, left think right think, Formosa is still the ideal choice ! hehe :D

There are generally 2 types of ayam found in Batam perhaps:

The first type of ayam are those ceweks who is due to unforeseen circumstance which force her to work in the joints because of :

1) the need to pay up the loan which she borrowed from loanshark,OKT,etc in her home town in Java/Sumatra for the sake of using the money for her family urgently.

2) being cheated or kena tipu by friends into this trade by sweet talking to her about how good is the money income as most of the cewek are young and naive.

Therefore the first type of ayam are actually not very willing to work in this line and generally do not enjoy sex with a stranger.

She tends to be a bit shy when she is fully naked in the room with the customer. Therefore calling her to do bbbj, cim, ar, many positions are almost impossible.

Therefore these type of ayam is likely to pretend to be sick and request to go back joint early. (Main sandiwara depan tamu)

She prefers to talk to customers more than doing sex. Therefore she is not so money minded and will not expect too much tips from her client.

I feel like a home staying in this room. The room is cosy, big and clean. Air-con and wifi is very strong and comfortable.No uncessary log off. There is a small sofa area and also a big LCD Screen TV. There is a bath tub in the toilet. The only bad point is not alot of socket for charging phone. A small make up area. Everything is nice and cool. Lighting gave you a very nice ambience.

This hotel has been around for a few years already.It still look quite new and ok and also it have a total of 5th storey. The external of the hotel look very cool, posh, trendy and elegant.There is also makan place and convenience shop opposite and near by the hotel. There is also habourbay mall so is very easy access.The lift was also nice, cool and style.

I never try, so i have no comment on it.

Summary & Rating
For that price, you get quite a comfortable room, i think is very good already. Got chances will stay there again. Reception was friendly and can communication in many languages.

I had a diff experience staying at M-One Hotel

My room cost 450000 superior twin during hari raya
The room was very stuffy and air con very weak. Keep sweating and even at night during my sleep.
The WIFI is almost non existence, I have to keep going down to the reception area to use the wifi at the lobby seating area.
The breakfast was terrible with only a few selection. The portion is like a plate of fried noodles and it looks pathetic. You dont feel good at all.

Maybe we are just unlucky. But comparing previous hotels I stayed, M-One is the worst experience. The only good thing is M-One KTV and Pub is just below. Seafood restaurant nearby and ferry terminal across the road. Other than that.... haizzz

I have a similar experience in Batam. Based on what I heard from them, almost all cewek in joints work there because "invited" by friends who were working there before and found it good. They went to Batam to do that and well aware of everything.
But there are certainly different cases.

One girl in **** told me, less than one year ago, that she went there because her friend invited her to come, saying that it was good to make the money she desperately needed. But she did not explain her that the job was sex.
She did not like that kind of job, but the problem was that someone advanced the money for travel and accommodation. So she was not forced to work: they simply offered her the option to work with other girls as the fastest way to return the money. Of course, she did not know how else to pay it back, if not working with other girls doing that. After 2 weeks of booking, she paid back her debt, but at that point she kept on doing it for a few more weeks, to earn some additional money for her needs at home. So, not really "forced", but certainly the girl had not many other options, once in Nagoya. I stress that the joint always let her the option to leave at any time.
(happy or not, she made me VERY happy that day. I gave her a good tip)

My great friend, who I met for 2-3 years and now is back to kampung, was initially sold by her auntie to a bar in Tanjung Unjang, when she was 18 or even less. Her auntie promised her a work in a restaurant or something. She was really forced to work there, prisoner, no way to escape. After some months, she became pregnant and found the way to escape back to kampung. Her family took the baby and sent her away because of the shame (note: the shame is on the girl, not on the auntie). She went back to Nagoya, and of course she did not find anything better else than working as FL in disco for a few years.

I heard also from another girl, but I had not enough confidence with her to trust her, that she went to Batam years ago to work, but then an auntie sold her to a brothel in another island (where?? I don't remember) for very little money. She managed to escape and come back to Batam, but of course she found nothing better than doing ST in Nagoya.

So, it happens, but I would not really say that this is the norm, as the bullshit claimed in many TV documentary reports.

I think the idea of one pimping their gf is somehow as follow:

1) bf belongs to the (handsome/sweet talk/ duck type) survive on women money

Just came back from Batam for a 2D1N massage "sexcapade".

Had applied for the membership card the first time I am paying so cheap for 1 night stay in Formosa which is 460k, previously was 475k at Kaha, 600k for walk in.

But this time round I noticed something that have changed in Batam.

Telkomsel simpati 3G sim card is no longer sold in Batam. I bought a Telkomsel prepaid 4G LTE sim card with a original 3k pulsa plus I also top up 20k pulsa.

But when I turn on my mobile data, all my balance of 23k was wiped off by the GPRS service. I asked the vendor why is this so. She explained when I bought the telkomsel simpati sim card in December last year was still using 3G, and social chat like whapapps, facebook uses very little mobile data. The 3 k balance is even sufficient for the social chat for many days. However now that Telkomsel simpati do not sell 3G sim card anymore. :eek:

However, in the event that there is no wifi zone, then use 4G sim card, then have to buy the data bundle of 300Mb for 30 days at 25k (if I never remember wrongly) at least sufficient for social messaging.

Therefore it is best to turn on wifi instead of mobile data as GPRS will wipe off all the balance in a short while... if mobile data bundle is not purchased...:)

Thursday should be a good day to Batam,i will assume you are staying for 2 nights then.

1. Accommodation
I am planning to stay in formosa hotel (deluxe) for the first night and Da Vienna Boutique Hotel (deluxe king) on the second night.
Want to experience different hotel in this trip.

If its you are 1st time in Batam,stay Formosa 1st then move to Da Vienna Hotel the next day. When at Formosa Hotel,try locating Da Vienna Hotel which is about 5 mins walk away from Formosa Hotel. Its always good to know where you are.

a) Which room to avoid?
what are the rooms that I need to avoid in Formosa Hotel & Da Vienna Boutique Hotel? as in I do not wish to have any haunted rooms..Read from the previous posts that the room with "accident" is around 202 to 206. I am going to try and avoid that. Any other rooms to not stay in? Sorry I am pantang like that..

The only known haunted room is no longer available for customer to stay in. Room 202 to 206 is not haunted unless you bring "one" along.

Also there is construction ongoing right? some bros talked about which side to avoid but I think I will go there and see if there is a need to change room due to the constructions.

Tell the reception that you do not wish to stay BEHIND the hotel where the construction is undergoing. Tell them your needs,like you need good wifi connectivity room etc. Reach the room,check the toilet flush,the lights,the tap etc. If something not right,you can still request for a change of room (even after being in it for a few hours) since I don't expect Thursday to be crowded. They should have a few spare rooms.

2. Transport
Planning to take taxi from harbor bay to hotel.
And probably from hotel to nearby mall.
Cewek shopping wise will try to walk. Not really familiar with the distance, is it recommended for first-timer to walk to different joints from hotel?

This will depend on your comfortability. It is always good to know your way around. Learn to at least walk from Formosa Hotel to Nagoya Hill Mall. If you aren't sure of the direction,ask the bell boy to point it out. Its a place (the mall) with visible view from outside the hotel (out from front door) when you turn right from the entrance and walk about 20 steps. Turn your eyes leftward and you should see Nagoya Hill Mall.

First day: Gold Bird, New Berry, MM & Indah2

Take a look at the above map again ,i would suggest Gold Bird,New Berry and Happy 8 for the 1st day since they are more on the back and left side of Formosa Hotel. Try to put Happy 8 as your last stop,reason being if you go Happy 8 1st,you may be disappointed with the others as they have the most number of SYT. (and they don't come at 900k to 1.2 juta unless...you can really bargain)

Second day: Permata Indah, Bunga Massage, MM & Indah2/Happy Massage 8

Permata Indah will be good for 2nd day becos if you are staying in Da Vienna Hotel its within walking distance. You may wish to take a taxi/ojek for MM,Indah2,Bunga,Hawaii and Tulip (Tulip and Hawaii isnt in the map).

Read from somewhere said that Indah2 has pretty SYT. So if first day the SYT doesnt suit my taste I will adjust my destination for second day.

Every booking joint also have SYT. Depending only if you are fated to see them. SYT usually lack service. Like every other places,there will be bound to have about 20% stunning ones if you observe closely (if you are there at the right time).

Will be following the general guideline: humble, polite; see which cewek can connect; bargain + say no driver
Target to get SYT between 900k to 1.2mil

Do note that you are going on a Thu Fri and Sat. On Thu you may get a good price if you bargain well enough,but Sat your price may turn out not-so-good.

Example :

You see Girl A,B and C in Happy 8 on Thu,which mami priced them at 1.3 juta. You bookmarked 1 or 2 of the 3 girls and get a SYT in Gold Bird,but when you return on Sat to book one of the 3 girls which Thu was being priced at 1.3 juta,it may likely turn out to be 1.5 juta. (this is how the OKTs in Batam exploit Sillyporean who constantly claim that Batam is dirt cheap and willingly be exploit) Supply and demand situation.

If you happen to find your 1st night's girl good enough for you, it will be good to extend the same girl instead (applies mainly for Thu to Sat trip). You will be paying the same price as previous night unless the girl don't like you or they have already been pre-booked by another.

Side note : If you happen to extend your girl's overnight booking,she may need to leave your room to go back to joint to pay your booking money (you will need to pass her the cash) and/or for her to get changed to new clean clothings (you can ask her come back at a certain time). If you wish to go shopping or out of hotel and request for her to stay in-room during the extension when you are out, remember to leave some money for her to take her meal. Do make sure your valuable were hidden well or bring it along with you when you step out or leave it at the safe at the reception (for Formosa hotel),Da Vienna has an in-room safe box. Get your girl's hp number. (you can always ask the receptionist to make local calls for you) Be vigilant and use common sense.

Took the 1215h ferry (50% filled only)
Reached Habour bay at 1315h. Walked over to Horizon confirm my return ferry for tmrw. Actually planned to walk to Formosa Hotel, reason being wanna figure out where is Kaha for future batam trip booking and also to check out if Gold Bird open on 2nd day Hari Raya. Upon reaching the exit of HBay terminal. Im sweating mad.

Formosa to Kaha is about 5 mins walk,if walk slowly may take 8 mins of so. Below is a map from Harbour Bay to Kaha,and then to Formosa. It will take about 10 mins walk from Harbour Bay to Kaha. Kaha is direct opposite Harmoni Hotel. (Not Harmoni suite Hotel or Harmoni One hotel,its call Harmoni Hotel)

Decided to take a Ojek directly to Formosa. Paid 30k to Ojek. While waiting for Formosa to confirm my Agoda booking, went over to opp money changer 9530. Changed 9400 at habourfront. Took a walk ard Formosa area. Most of shops still closed due to Hari Raya. Managed to check in, took a good shower and take a rest. Time for cewek shopping.
Walking toward New berry direction, cant locate it after walking ard for 30mins. Give up, discuss with a Ojek. For 50k, he will bring mi to the few joints to check out if they are open.

I was about to ask you to book from Formosa website and then head over their receptionist to join as a member for FREE and then get the room at 460k rupiah but I went to double check agoda pricing for Formosa Hotel and find out they sell deluxe room with breakfast priced at about S$46.40 (including tax). Which is a little cheaper than the membership room pricing of 460k rupiah.

Being member of Formosa do not guarantee the lowest room price. Online pricing is inconsistent. Some time high,sometime low...so please check and double check for thebest deal.

Almost all the booking joint today has no more 600k overnnight girls. But there's still one that has 500k girls tho,hehehe...so when one looks at the ugliest fattest oldest at places like Bunga,Happy 8 etc etc...we are actually at 600k category of yesteryears and 1 million rupiah girls were category of 800k of the past. Happy 8 will surpass Bunga to become Batam MOST expensive SOON (I think they are almost there) ...in other word,biggest,fatest ugliest can cost around 900k to 1 million rupiah in happy 8 and bunga but 700k to 900k in other joints.

And bargain is a MUST for me in Batam.

The IT/Electronic sort of mall beside BC KTV/ behind lucky plaza has opened since last week, 30% of the shops are occupied. Concept similar like lucky plaza but better in a sense that it's air conditioned and the toilets are clean and new. The name of the plaza should be NTC, google map has yet register it.

Today rate is 9650.

Visited BCS on last Saturday, crowd seems to be lesser, businesses seems to be quieter. Guess it should be considered as low season for this period.

Recommend the bbq sausage (sausage bakar) for midnight snack at old place frog porridge (further down from new siam malam, 2 mins walk from formosa)

For Breakfast, Satay mee/$$$$$ at Djudju hotel coffeeshop and the curry rice at harapan baru coffeeshop (peniun, opposite De Best Hotel) can give it a try too.

For those who like to stay in the hotel throughout the trip can consider ordering pizza hub as i feel it's worth it.

Most shops weren't opened (I was there,hehehe...). Still considered an immature mall. Hopefully it don't end up like Center Point mall over time which is also an air conditioned mall.

Maybe i should rephrase my question. I do know the package price includes a cut for the OKT or joint boss, which the OKT can nego the price with you to a certain level he is comfortable. It is also true that the OKT will have a clearer picture of the girls in the joint (good or bad in simple terms).

My question is do any of you seniors practice tipping the OKT to get 'better' recommendations or heads up to help with your selections? Why I am asking is because this seems normal in other scenes to 'build relationships'. If no one does it, surely as hell I wont want to be the first to do it, I prefer to contribute preserving our 'heaven' the way it is so it wont get screwed up like in SG now.
