In fact many massage places including hotel spa can beat Vienna even if Vienna offered 20% discount. Vienna Spa is definitely one of the most expensive spa in this Nagoya/Baloi area unless they give more than the usual discount as compared to those familiar spa or massage places that you have been.

I hope to change that,hehehe...and constantly trying to work on such.

As the final price that I have gotten was Rp 270k for 2 hrs massage + body Scrub. I compared it with Mariana Spa for the same duration and treatment which cost Rp 280k, nett.

Besides Vienna Spa, Theraz Spa at iHotel Baloi is also an expensive spa costing at least Rp 380k depending on discount for the particular month, sometimes 40%, 25% or 15% and also based on Mon to Thu only.

Interesting,very interesting to know that...so they do have some certain discount for a certain part of the weekday...everyone of them appears to competing against each other for some market share. Very interesting indeed. I learned something bro,thank you.

Once i know how things work,i am able to do things more confidently.

You will even have better bargain if you call the therapist directly. Most therapist, if they can click with you, will want to give their contact to you. In a way potong jalan the spa/massage shop. If they are good & hardworking, I don't mind paying them directly, sometimes at a discount.

I did that before too,but all such deals will usually have to wait till the therapist finishes her work hours for the day. So it wont be according to my timing. Hence I reserve all these therapists or massage girls for my 24 hour massage plan,hehehe...well,there are afterall no 24 hours or very late night massage,so these girls can come in handy.

I did my re-org the night before I went to bed and know exactly what I have counted. I make it a habit to do re-org at the end of each night including packing and arranging my stuff. If someone is with me, I will do my counting in the bathroom and lock it in the safe w/o view from other.

Good,thats what I did too. And have often remind bros who joined me in my group trips to do the same too. Many a time,after our meal when we were to go dutch,they try to pay me on-the-spot after the bill came,and I will tell them to pay me only after we reach hotel. True as you don't know who is watching. That is including children but they pose no threat. At one instant, when I finished changing my money at the rows of moneychanger facing Nagoya Plaza Hotel, I left the money changer with my money in my pocket and buttoned on. While walking, I always pay attention to those people around me, those that are also staring at me and motorcycle coming close to me. My concentration is on the bigger picture and neglecting a child who had chased after me for a gift for some money. I felt so guilty after that for not offering her something but not so willing to walk back where the child was as the same number of people staring at me were still there. So, I moved on.

Same here,i am always vigilant when it comes to money changing. One of the reason why I picked Formosa Hotel is becos the money changer that offers me good price is just a min walk away. As long as I touch down to hotel car park premises, I would already be feeling safe tho not 100%,hehehe...

Anyway,for a child (and anyone) asking for money,i will usually ignore unless they are handicap. Like i say before,i don't mind paying 10k or sometime 20k for a newspaper that cost 5k sold to me by a kid (or anyone) even tho I do not understand the language at all to read them but I wont give a dime to beggar who has all 4s and healthily walking around. I believe those who can work and has worked should not go hungry. And I don't want to encourage parents thinking it is alright to allow their kids to beg in the street,especially in dangerous places like road junction. Thats just my own perspective.

I believe so and I trust most management would want to do that. As it is more of a theory on speculation or conjecture and no concrete evidence of catching her in the act, I will refrain from presenting a suspicion to projecting an image of so-called truth to the management. If I presented it, the concept of the management will focus it to the end result - theft by so & so therapist which is a criminal offence. What will be the consequences. All of us will know the consequences and so does the therapist. Do you think she will admit? ....very unlikely....as there is no concrete evident ....and if (suppose) she dared to do the deed, she is prepared not to admit it and who knows may turn the barrel around accusing you of framing her because to save herself, dignity, family reputation, honor and etc. So, how does it ends? While your words do make sense. I would still make that report, not becos of the losing of that S$100 but more of letting them know such 'incident' happens. I am definitely not going to play that "word against word" game with them. Just like I have an incident some time ago where I lost my open Horizon ferry ticket when I leave it inside my passport while the custom officer chop my passport for my clearance and i only find out it went missing after collecting my scanned luggage, I emailed the (whatever) relevant department (http://www.bpbatam.go.id/eng/aboutBida/location.jsp) w/o any expectation of anything to be done and told them about my incident. I didn't have the officer's name to let them refer to and they replied telling me in some broken english like they will look into the matter and later did not follow up with any future correspondence (maybe they do,I didn't check my spam mail box,hehehe...). 2 trips later, followed by my other later Batam trips till today...i don't see that same officer anymore. (Tho I am no good at remembering a name ,but I do remember his face as he is a younger male officer which I saw him again when I leave for Sillypore the same day) Likely he may have been transferred out from Harbour Bay Ferry terminal or something. Maybe he got a demerit point? :p

All in all, my main objective was just to keep them informed which I indicate in my email and not wanting anyone punished and/or my money (or ferry tickets) back. Majority of the fault still lies with me being careless for leaving an open ferry ticket inside my passport, knowing their corruptible ways.

There are many possibilities that can twist and turn, more so in a foreign land, especially the high stack of seriousness in this episode.

For this S$50x2, I am prepared to let it go. As I have mentioned, not to blame anyone but myself for letting my guard down in a place where it is unlikely to happen but it did.

My main objective as mentioned wasn't to blow the matter up and I had in my mind that I am a tourist in a foreign country,i am only there to have a good time. I only have one such encounter and that is enough for me to keep reminding myself that I need to be vigilant in all things I do in Batam. :p

Batam is not a very big place, especially when it comes to the cheonging part, the market also very small. The book of transparency can easily be open up for most to know if they read. Simply simplify it and most who have some basic intelligence will have no problem understanding the 'ground' there.

It really depends on how intelligent they are. And i believe they are not exactly all stupid. Its like the movie Independence Day...the alien who attack earth,they like to get take landmark 1st where most people will go. Where's Batam's famous landmark? You name it but i doubt you will see me there much.

Honest opinion,i fear those wearing uniform at the custom and on the road driving more than the terrorist. (it does not mean i dont fear terrorists)

Telkomsel simpati 3G sim card is no longer sold in Batam. I bought a Telkomsel prepaid 4G LTE sim card with a original 3k pulsa plus I also top up 20k pulsa.

But when I turn on my mobile data, all my balance of 23k was wiped off by the GPRS service. I asked the vendor why is this so. She explained when I bought the telkomsel simpati sim card in December last year was still using 3G, and social chat like whapapps, facebook uses very little mobile data. The 3 k balance is even sufficient for the social chat for many days. However now that Telkomsel simpati do not sell 3G sim card anymore. :eek:

However, in the event that there is no wifi zone, then use 4G sim card, then have to buy the data bundle of 300Mb for 30 days at 25k (if I never remember wrongly) at least sufficient for social messaging.

Therefore it is best to turn on wifi instead of mobile data as GPRS will wipe off all the balance in a short while... if mobile data bundle is not purchased...:)

I think they were wking with M1 & Sintel on this one,to make more profit out of the foreign phone users.(M1 & & Sintel has their own $5 & $30 sim for data in SEA like M'sia,Indo) How many reli stayed up to 30 days in btm?

Permata Indah will be good for 2nd day becos if you are staying in Da Vienna Hotel its within walking distance. You may wish to take a taxi/ojek for MM,Indah2,Bunga,Hawaii and Tulip (Tulip and Hawaii isnt in the map).

I tink wat u post in tis 2 above shld be more than sufficient 4 any new guys to go btm w min trouble. Once reach btm ferry terminal,jus grab a taxi to reach hotel,check in & go to bookin joint 2 book a girl & then back to hotel,fuck,rest fuck rest until dinner time & then go eat & back 2 room 2 fuck rest fuck rest until next mornin. Jus addin,never get pressurized or hurry 2 choose girl by okt. Slowly choose dn't mean tryin to choose a girl with no idea hw to choose 1. I do go Batam a few times a month for business. But so far never really have time to venture into this area yet. Its always a day trip so slotting in a few hours of bonking seem too rush before the last ferry . So near yet so far hhaha

Lets say you enter this farm house....and suddenly you saw this gal you picked before.....but she kind of give not so good service. You saw she also like recognise you.

I dare say all the farm house in the cheonging list will have some girls I have booked before,hehehe...there is no need to be paiseh (shy) or feeling the need to be attached to just any one girl. A lot of Gold Bird girls were no longer under any contract,but if they work under the joint,they have to come to work but they need not have to sit inside the fish bowl area to await customers as most already have a strong-enough flow of regulars. Therefore some bros go to Gold Bird only manage to see 5 to 6 girls but on the same day i was there,i could see around 20 plus.

This group of non-contract girls,they still need to pay the joint upon your booking. There is no harm in asking for lower price for anything in Batam, and in this situation is on girls you booked before where you might think you have a chance to bypass the joint which in fact isnt. A little speech technique is required when you ask for lower price tho (eg,you book her originally for a million rupiah but tell her you actually pay papi last time only 900k etc etc). I usually get about 100k to 200k off and occasionally having to pay 10k-20k rupiah for her ojek but this dont happen every time.

It is also how i manage to get 500k overnight girls from Gold Bird in 2014. Do keep in mind, EVERY booking joint works differently and i am now talking solely on just Gold Bird aka Sedona. (with this in mind,you can just imagine how much wechat girls were chopping their not-so-intelligent customers for short time)

I always thought there is some kind of regulation which forbids building a high floor hotel at the nagoya area.....near the formosa side.
Anyway, i m worried abt breaking the rhythm of that area.
Across the road, already infested w sinkie n msia tourist.
I certainly hope they do it real slow.......i still want to enjoy my time at nagoya for a few more years.

1. I understand about 60% of Batam visitors were Sillyporean.

2. I understand batam has lesser crowd during weekdays (Mon to Thu)

3. I understand eating meals at Batam timezone where its their normal meal time sure to be crowded.

4. I also understand which shopping mall has the most crowd in Batam.

5. about 70% of Batam tourist came from Sillypore and not every ferry terminal is crowded.

My hope is,Batam's weekdays will NOT be like CNY or long weekend on a everyday basis in the coming 10 years. :p

Never will i ever pay for anything in advance in Batam. :)

I chg opp formosa. If u follow wat's written on their board & dn't open mouth to ask,everywhere also same rate in btm. Among the row of money chger there,Hai Hai (or rite corner frm front of hotel) is always givin the worst rate in tat area.

ALMOST everywhere in the world, paying with the credit card in a foreign country is more convenient than changing your cash into local currency at exchange offices (using ATM with a debit card is a different story, as ALMOST everywhere in the world the Maestro exchange rate is better than at bank), because:

1) serious hotels or shops or restaurants do not apply a surcharge (but some apply a discount for cash, because they avoid to pay a heavy commission to credit card major circuits);

2) the exchange rate applied by VISA, MasterCard, etc. is about +1.5% the daily official interbank rate (more or less the rate you see on Yahoo or XE, for example), while...

3) ...the exchange rate applied by exchange offices or banks is usually worse than the above, at least +3% / +5%, depending on the currency (should I try to buy IDR in my bank in Europe, IF THEY ACCEPT they would charge not less than +20% or 30%, because IDR have no market in Europe) and depending on the office (NEVER change at exchange offices in airports, such as Forex etc. The surcharge is impressive, again +10% or +20% or more).

In Batam, that's not the case.
The exchange offices offer very good rates, at least for SGD and for USD. I think this has to do with the need of foreign cash by local business (they wish foreign CASH and not money transfer, guess why eheh...)
This makes the usage of credit cards less convenient than changing your SGD to IDR then paying cash.

For example, you wrote "today evenin rate is 9650 for one sin$."
In this moment, I read on Yahoo 1 SGD = 9644.45 IDR and on XE (updated real time) 1 SGD = 9648 IDR, nearly the same as your rate (there is a difference between the rate to BUY and the rate to SELL).
This means that, approximately, if you pay by credit card your exchange rate would be roughly 9500 (losing 1.5% compared to your 9650 rate for cash).

Unless you don't pay a big amount, the difference is small (few dollars on a hotel bill after a week stay) and should be not a reason to give up the comfort of electronic payments.
HOWEVER, in Batam not many accept credit cards, except hotels, important shops or restaurants, KTV, pubs, etc.

In conclusion, I always use cash except when I checkout at Formosa :D

1st day: Reach Harbourbay @ 1030am with a friend Bro C (its his 3rd/4th time in Batam). Preparation for meet up with my regular ojek were done 1 day before and off we go and change our SGD to RP in front of Formosa hotel. Once change money we head over to hotel. Told my ojek to meet us at 1pm at the lobby with a car since its about to rain soon. Put our bags in our room and we walk over to Avava/Ramayana to do some shopping @ 11.30am. Got a call from my ojek that hes waiting for us at the lobby now and we are still at Avava, i realize i got my timing wrong, lol so we rush back to hotel put our items and jump off to our car and on our way to do more "shopping".

Timing was 1315pm, 1st stop Indah 2, there are around 10-15 gals, saw a couple that me and my friend are interested, kindly told the OKT we back soon. When in MM, gals are roughly the same numbers from Indah but none for me and Bro C, head over to Bunga, have about 15-20 gals, fish tank were full of gals, there were no empty sits in front of us, I talk to the granny mami who knows me (not just her, some of the gals too know me) have some chit chat with her and told we come back later. Have a quick stop at Hawaii, i make it simple for this one, cannot make it for the gals there. Now we when to Happy, by this time its already pouring rain, selection there is the same as Bunga, sits were full of gals. Since me and Bro C are not like most guys who when inside Happy, sit @ the stool light a cig or drink like we are in a kopitiam, we went right in the fish tank and have a better look at the gals. i saw 3 that are to my liking and Bro C has a few too. Plump mami ask me why dont wana choose, i told her im shy, she jokingly say u every time comes here got shy meh. We laugh. Kindly reject her and off we went to Berry by this time Bro C have decided to pick 1 at Indah, (Erica, paid 1.3mil nego from 1.5mil) and Irene from Happy for his 2nd day, (which we went back on 2nd day) me still none, we went in Berry, this place is even worse than Bunga, not just the OKT knows me, all the gals to the cleaner knows me from my days with 1 of gals there, i call her my ON gal. (which i didnt realize untill the gal i book today told me she was there sitting) So i book a gal from Berry for my 1st day and Bro C book a gal from Indah. The rest of the day is pretty mundane so i just skip to the action that matters.

On a side note, Berry price has gone up for most gals quite considerably, you can still find syt at 1.2mil at Berry 5 to 6 months ago but now most are range around 1.3mil and above and those lower price end are cannot make it ones. (i do have a theory maybe Berry boss thinks if customers are willing to pay high prices at Bunga & Happy, why not at Berry. Even thou Berry have not much gals then those 2 joints but they do have a few selections, also the intimidating malay OKT (tharmidzi) is no more working at Berry. hes been fired due to "corruption", so now newbies wont felt scared/intimidated when going to Berry. Lol.

My Review for my 2D1N Batam trip 23/07/16.

I will be following Nono1973's beginner's guide for this virgin sex trip haha.

Planned to sit 0940H Horizon ferry to Harbour bay but when I reached at 0900H saw there was a timing for 0915H so fast hand fast leg board the ferry. I still prefer Horizon ferry since its more comfortable and smooth for me. There is only one main problem to this place, getting there. Look how far away it is from Nagoya Formosa Hotel to this place,which I believe with taxi will take at least 30 mins to reach (not forgetting the going-back-to-hotel trip). Still,i believe it is worth going. Must really find one good day to pay this place a visit. No...not gonna bring any kids there of course...hehehe...bring the girls there. (The more the merrier, and Oh! Make sure they can swim, more fun!)

Usually , taxi drivers and atas single mom are the one renting..

If he's thrifty, within 10 years or less these Avansas belongs to him completely. Because they do not have COE in their country !!!

Solution : I realize i often go to less crowded places,hehehe...

Prices definitely will go up. Retail, hotels, eateries,....etc

This is an inflation issue for smaller eateries, which i usually frequent.

More wealthy tourists means more pickpockets n gangsters.

Solution : Just don't go to places where more wealthy-crazy tourist go.

Some hotels might open more KTVs to cater to high income ppl

Solution : Let those hotels fight among themselves, the strongest survive. Look for the strongest survivor. I will become more worried if entertaiment places get lesser ,which means someone's monopolising and they eventually get to call the shots when it comes to pricing.

There is a famous video, with PRC tourists assaulting shrimps on an "all you can eat" buffet at a hotel. I am sure you have seen it.

Last time I passed the causeway border between Malaysia and Singapore, there were not less than 2000 PRC tourists queued at immigration. I took one hour and half to pass! :eek:
"Queued" is not the word: those people was pushing, jumping across the lines and among the lines, trying to pass ahead of me just because there were 50 cm between me and the side barrier (apparently, the concept of "single line" is not known there), all this making terrible noise. Singaporean security was resigned, used to see all that chaos every day.
I did not see any gold chain or diamonds. They were low-cost travel tourists enjoying the opportunity to visit KL and Singapore.

Now imagine when low-cost travel operators will start to propose Batam in PRC... :eek:

Reached there took a cab(50k,lazy to bargain over 10k) to Formosa and checked-in at walk-in rate (530k).

Want to amend abit to the comment, months ago Harbourbay still dont have a taxi booth where the counter staff will write the price of taxi rides to whatever location you want. Now there is and it is much better. For those lazy to bargain and worry about carrot chopping stuns, this is the way to go :)

Didnt get her name bro, she is mumbling in Malay or whatever that language is called the whole time. Probably she didnt like my face or something, other bros might get a different treatment from me. Its quite common for this since the level of service you receive depends on their mood, the amount of 'chemistry' between both of you and of course their OKT standard set for them. My 30th Batam Trip
(14th to 17th July 2016)

This trip can be classified as one of my worst over the last 7 months (starting Jan 2017). As shared before,there is no such thing thing as an 'everyday Sunday' in every Batam trip and here I go,finally hitting the nail. And I planned to find a solution to it. (original plan for this is trip is 3D2N but end up having a 4D3N)

The trip start out on an early Thursday morning. Hit Harbour Front,meet up with friend and later head over to the ferry and eventually reach Harbour Bay. There was a slight drizzling,weather seems to look good as it was pretty cooling. Upon reaching hotel,grabbed our room key and learned the 1st thing that there was some management shake up with many frontline staffs resigning from their current position. See,1st sad news in the morning before i even enter my designated room. Yes,almost all the hotel staffs whom I have mentioned previously will be tendering their resignation.

The next thing upon entering my room,checked everything,set up my whole IT system and swapped my phone from Singapore line to Indo line...Ta Da! Another problem,phone suddenly black out and died during the process of swapping sim card. It was working perfectly fine before I swapped the sim card but now....argh!

Nevermind,i shall swallow that...hehehe...still keeping my cool at this point. The next thing after all arrangement done,we head over for early lunch at a2 Food court,then proceed to go cewek-shopping. My friend already have a pre-booked girl from Happy 8 bargained from 1.5 million rupiah to 1.2 million rupiah. Didn't really shop much,i just grab a girl I had in one of my previous trips since she offered pretty much good service. My friend's girl came 1st while mine will be delivered to me at a later time since I am heading to Kings for a foot reflexology.

Finished my foot reflexology,rest a bit, shower and await the arrival of my girl. Everything else hereon was OTOT until dinner time which we decide to try the Acia Ikan Bakar food court beside Nagoya City Walk Mall,hehehe...scare terrorist attack ma (since there was a threat by some terrorist that Batam was one of their target).

Dinner was a simple one,i think 5 pax dinner costing below 200k rupiah. And after dinner,we head over to Harbour Bay Mall for our movie taking the sweetbox seat. Surprisingly,sweetbox cost only 50k for 2 pax...which was lower than the last time I was there.It was my friend 1st experience with Blitz Theatre.

Nearly every trip also go BCS Mall and Nagoya Hill Mall theater to watch movie,this time round becos of terrorist threat I suggested Harbour Bay Mall,Blitz Theater...hehehe... Movie time was 2 hours away, we have to walked around Harbor Bay Mall to explore its surrounding. Harbour Bay was practically an almost dead mall by 830pm. Anyway,it was also a dead mall by day too,just worse during night time. So its a good place to bring my booking for her "shopping" becos there will be nothing for her to buy.

After bringing some human atmosphere for the Pounce Café for nearly an hour,its about time for our Movie. Forget to mention earlier the movie title. Didn't had much of a choice so we decide on Legend of Tarzan. In fact it was a choice we made before even entering Harbour Bay Mall.

Movie isn't too bad,just too much talking and too little action. My friend's girl actually dozed off in part of the movie..hehehe...me too.

Anyway,movie ends way past midnight. My guess is there will definitely be no taxi at those wee hour and I am not surprise that I didn't see any taxi outside Harbour Bay Mall waiting. There was less than 20 human in this theater (do note that its a weekday,Thu) when the movie starts. As usual,following my own advise in the past,i simply walk to any hotel to get a taxi. This time round,i pick Ggi hotel since its just across the road.

We walked across the road,reach Ggi Hotel,talk to security guard who helped us called a taxi. The taxi has Ggi Hotel's name on it,so I guess its quite safe to ride on it.

We reached out room and OTOT all the way till next morning where I have hotel breakfast 1st before heading to Momo for breakfast part 2. Twice the breakfast filled us up so much that we decide to skip lunch or simply just settle late lunch at Indo Rasa food court and hotel on our own.

For myself,i head for an hour massage before heading back to room (by the way,it was my 2nd massage,1st one was earlier). OTOT all the way until dinner time which was at a2 Food Court. I have over spent many times in a2 Food Court dinner,so this time round we budget ourselves really well. 5 pax dinner cost only 220k rupiah,hehehe...

Now,here's where our fun starts...we decide to bring our respective girls to City Walk Mall,hehehe...to play in the Fun World.

Surprisingly,this place was pretty quiet on a Friday night and we basically have the entire place for ourselves. Good,chances of terrorist will be lesser,hehehe...I have been to this place quite a few times,but its the 1st time I was there after the sun sets. It was a totally different atmosphere.

One thing do surprise me tho,a lot of stuffs in the Fun World was allowed to be played by adults too,hehehe...but there are also quite a handful of them mainly for kids.

One of our girls is on the picture above,but I doubt anyone can see her...hehehe...she's the only one who dares to go for second helping. Every had some fun,the girls get to have some souvenirs to bring back and our expense,300k shared among 2.

Walking back to Formosa took us about less than 10 mins from the back alley between Formosa Hotel and Centerpoint. Yes,we had fun and back to hotel for our OTOT....hehehe....before long its next morning and 2 nights were up. How time flies.

Breakfast was at Momo noodle shop later lunch at Astro Hotel food court. Another friend of mine who will be bringing his sister coming to Batam,so thought i would extend another night stay. Before meeting with my friends,thought I should go cewek-shopping after having a fairly good lunch.

Most booking were quite crowded by the time I was there...initially wanting get a girl from Gold Bird,but most of their stock hasn't returned from Kampong,so head over to places like Tulip,Hawaii,New Berry etc...below is a photo of tulip massage,a shop taken over by Bunga's partners.

Used to be a massage shop,now turned booking joint. Price point there was almost equivalent to Bunga and Happy 8 (since they are all from the same management) but higher if I compare with Gold Bird,Permata Indah and New Berry. Its only my 3rd time there,hehehe...I haven't book any girls from there yet. Maybe will do so in my next trip to see how their quality is. (my friends has tried a few between May and June,seems not bad in terms of service but tends to open lioness mouth for tips,etc)

After cewek-shopping,met up with my friend and learned that Nagoya Spa and Massage and majority of those woman spa like Spa Secret etc was fullhouse. Wow! Its a Saturday,seems like most spas and massage were only making money on the weekends. Hmm...good information collected.

The rest of the time is all about staying in my room to tcss a little ,head to Harbour Bay to send 1 friend in this trip back to ferry terminal and then make arrangement for dinner with the others. My girl arrived, OTOT until dinner time.

Dinner was at Windsor Food Court. My friend wish to show her sister around and allowing her to feel the Batam night atmosphere, so Windsor was suggested. Its been a long time since I was there...

As usual, Windsor was always competitive the moment any customer walks in and on a Sat night,it was so quiet...look at the empty tables and chairs in front of stage. There were more crowd that comes in later but still...its not as busy compare to most other Fri/Sat night.

...which cost my friend about 600k rupiah. Hehehe...luckily I didn't have to pay for it. And I also don't know which food store they ordered from. 3 person meal cost 600k (w/o taxi),well...that's as much as Golden Prawn,Wey Wey,Harbour Bay Sea Food and other popularly known sea food restaurant in Batam. One of my Batam MOST EXPENSIVE food bill since its for only 3 pax.

The stage in Windsor is their main attraction, i guess...where audience can dedicate song for the singer to sing or even sing for themselves. Well,with a small price of course.

I am quite surprise by a few things when I visit this temple again. I see Japanese and Korean tourists there taking photos. I see students doing volunteer work even on a Sunday. My friends were feeling a sense of peaceful ambience when they stepped into the temple.

For bros who thinks they have seen it all in this temple, well...below is something that you may have missed.

The students in this school (which is also a temple) came back on Sunday to POLISH something that look like a shiny carpet!! Amazing isnt it? Most students in Sillypore would rather stay at home,go out with friends or be with their family on Sundays but these students were actually...well...from my perspective,they amazed me.

Note : I think the carpet they were polishing were those for long distance walking prayer ceremony where worshippers need to kneel once,bow thrice and then stand up to move forward 3 steps and then repeat same process for a few kilometers. (not 100% sure tho)

Here's another highlight of my Batam trip :

It took all of us about 2 hours to walk around the Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Monastery. This temple is south east asia biggest Buddhist temple and a landmark of Batam for Buddhist.

My friends were all pretty impress by this temple as this is the 1st time they were there. If you would like pay this place a visit,you can google under Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Monastery. You will surely find something. Then again,do note that this place is quite a distance from Nagoya area and is closer to Batam Center rather than Harbour Bay area. So walking from Harbour Bay to this temple is almost near impossible.

There is no entrance fee,even lighting up the joss stick provided there is free. Of course you can still put a small donation in their donation box if you feel like it. This place is one of the more legit charity organization who provide free and/or subsidized school (meals too) for poorer lesser fortunate students in Batam.

I think my friends will come here again,and as for me...there are still many temples to go visit. And its been a while since I last drop in here. Honestly speaking, being back to this place feels so good this time round.

Next stop, and since we were all so near to this Kong Zi Temple,so just pay it a visit. Its actually just beside the Windsor Tua Pek Kong temple.

Pass by any temple and don't light up a joss stick,really not very nice for most Chinese. So we enter it and got to learn a few things about this Saint Kong Zi. For those who didn't know,Kong Zi (or Kung Tze) isn't exactly a deity but more of a saint in ancient China. There was a movie on Kong Zi by Chow Yuen Fatt about 5 years ago. Teaching of Kong Zi was called Confucius (儒家伦理).

Hehehe...looks like many great prizes to be won...hehehe...I made some small donation to the building of this temple before I left. And it does look like on around 27th Sept 2016,i will have something to do in Batam. According to the caretaker,they have sort of rented that piece of land from the local government for 30 years, so I believe during those years,they should still be around. The only setback is,their new temple location is at Batam Center area, which is quite a distance from this current one. In short, it will become less inconvenient for worshippers to go there.

I think I am going to visit this temple in my next trip and maybe even the one after...before it is gone.

After the temple trip,we had lunch at Meximo pub Wan Tan mee before heading back to our respective hotel room to clean up ourselves,rest up a little,pack up and get ready to check out. And we head to the Harbour Bay Ferry terminal to have a cup of coffee a little earlier to chat up and summarize our trip before boarding our timed ferry.

Home sweet home thereafter.

For most bros who were with me,i think they should have a fairly alright trip. But for me,i feel I have a lousy trip since Day 1 I stepped in Batam. And its the worst trip since the beginning of Jan 2016.

My thoughts for the trip :

1. My hp that were suppose to be for my Indo number broke down upon my arrival in Batam. (and I am talking about 2 HPs and I had one still under repair in Batam)

2. Wired internet connection was a total failure. (this is what I pissed off most)

3. Wifi was intermittent, and that makes my connection with my girl via google translate intermittent in all 3 nights.

4. Computer connection to the LCD TV also decide to go crazy on me,so I thought it was the HDMi cable fault and waste 50k on another 3 meter cable from DC Mall and guess what,my original cable has no fault but the 3 meter cable was at fault.

5. The girl I got for my last night in Batam was not good. Or at least not what I expected so decide to send her back after 2 shots and called for another girl to come to my room around million which cost me another million rupiah (from another joint).

6. If I can only use one word to describe this trip, it would be "Frustration"! Enough said....

Basically from the start of this trip,everything has not been smooth-sailing. My girls for the 1st 2 nights were only so-so. The one for my 3rd night being the worst,keep playing with her hp and occupying my computer usage and all that to the extend that I feel the need to send her back. (communication is also a key problem w/o google translate too)

I didn't get her name but the only clue I have was she was from Hawaii and she's a native of Manado, Indonesia. Only been to Batam for less than a week when I booked her and she will be going back to her hometown next month as she didn't like this place, Batam. I was her 1st customer (1st blood,i guess), so didnt want to kick up a fuss as its just "so not me" to do that, had my 2 shots with her and ask her to leave with a 50k tip. Called for another girl from another joint and she arrived promptly just before the clock strike midnight. And I was lucky she saved the rest of my night and I was so grateful to her that I tipped her 200k the next morning. (200k tip was a rare for me as out of 20 girls, maybe only 1 gets it)

All in all, minus-ing out the parts that my friends who makes my trip better, i would rate this trip a 5/10. This 30th trip has remind me once again, regardless how good or how bad I am in the scene of Batam, luck still plays a very important role on getting the right girl for the like of me who are not into the idea of RTF (I still RTF some girls tho).

I took my own advise,go bathe flower water,hehehe...hence I was in 3 temples in one single day. May my next upcoming Batam trip in Aug be better than this one... *sob*

Now, i can finally start planning for my August 2016 Trip. I am more likely to go solo,to wash away my last trip's bad luck....hehehe....

Was inspired by so many bros sharing in this thread about this magical land, I made a trip to Batam to test water. Btw, I have been traveled to many SEA countries for mongering such as Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia (Jakarta), but this is the first time to Batam. :p A little bit late, huh?

As I am not quite good at writing in story details, here comes the summary of the 2 days activities,

Day 1,
Took Ferry arrive Batam Center @10:30am, unfortunately encounter downpour:eek: spend nearly 1 hour eat and drink in the shopping mall connected by a flyover with terminal to find no sign of stop. So come down to the mall gate and there is a guy there to offer taxi service. was charged 75K for taxi to my hotel - Hotel HANA - I know it is carrot chopping but I didn't find anywhere to reach a taxi or ojek since still raining hard.
After reaching hotel, check in. To find the hotel is OK in terms of location, but not hot enough hot water. staff explain saying due to raining, guess they are using solar system for heat water? anyway will try another hotel next time. also future bros can take reference from this.
After settle down, step outside the hotel, find a small convenient store to get some supply (I bet you all know what is it, lol) then was approached by some taxi driver to offer tour service for booking girl. Since I am still new to Batam scene, I took one looks like nice guy and accept his offer of 50K to booking joints. It maybe another cost I can cut off in the future, anyway for the first time I will take it as kind of tuition fee.
Then shopping starts, if memory serves me right, I have been taken to Memory KTV, happy 8 massage, Indah 2, Gold Bird KTV, and finally New Berry (which is actually just across the street from my hotel, oh my god, :eek:please don't laugh at me although I know I deserved it) where a girl catch my eyes - 23 years old SYT from Medan, fair skin, small size, B cup, a 7.5/10 to my view. Was charged by 1.2M bargaining down from 1.3M.

kiss/light bj can but cannot bath together
service wise in general not bad due to fit and slim body, it makes me hard automatically 7/10
total 4 shots and left in the morning with 150K tip after breakfast (btw, hotel breakfast is lousy 5/10)

Day 2
Mainly for massage exploring, went to Utama area which has been mentioned by many bros here. tried beautiful, Pegy, and one more parlor which I forget the name. Running systems are very similar from each other, at the counter you will be presented a album to choose girl, massage charge varies from 60K to 80K for standrad room (a worn out small cabin with a worn out mattress on the floor), 110k for so-call VIP room (indeed a room with attached bath facility but still worn out comparing to massage parlor I have been to in Jakarta). Most girl will piano massage you for 20 - 30 minutes then start asking Special. I found it is really hard to bargain down since they are really firm about the price even those just so so looking girl. Maybe it is just because my bargain skills sucks, lol. Finally I have taken 1 for 300K and 1 for 350K and turned down another one which at least want 400K.

Money chger shp usually only jus a few steps away frm each other. Max time taken is jus few secs thg.

i check on 21 july rate @ opp formosa is 9650,so if u chg 100 sing,the variance btw yr rate & the 1 at opp formosa,its 10k diff. If u chg 200 is 20k diff. If u stay 3D2N u probably chg abt 500,tat'd be abt 50k extra. No need 4 me to spell wat u can do w 50k rp xtra in btm.

Fery terminal & shoppin mall's variance btw small downtown money changer shp is usually 100rp to 200rp for 1 sing $ diff. Every exchg gives u 10k-20k extra for 100 sing $.

Only thg u better not do is, dn't blur blur specially go take taxi/ojek 2 opp formosa jus to chg money frm there. Tat'd reli be a stupid move. Go 4 those shps where u stay close by to & at yr convenient free time w easier access. Whole trick is,approach places tat has a whole stretch of money chger within sight bcs w competition,rate shld usually be better & ask at least 3 shps 4 their rates.

I wrote many times, but my posts did not receive any comment either of approval or disagreement, that after an extensive search among shops in the surroundings of Formosa and Nagoya, looking for best rates for exchanging USD to IDR, I found that:
- rates can vary on the order of even more than 5% (:eek: it's a lot!!);
- invariably, the worst rates are in Nagoya Hill and Harbour Bay on arrival (not surprising... right?:rolleyes:)
- the best rates are usually offered by the shops along Jalan Bonjol (the big street in front of Nagoya Hill), walking 100-200m to right facing Nagoya Hill.

As iicycold suggests, if one has to change more than few hundreds dollars, he should always take 30 mins to walk around and ask for the best rate.
5% of 500 USD is something like 300k IDR!

The competition among shops on Jalan Bonjol is fierce, as they are side by side. I remember some time I could get offers like 12.700, 12.750, 12.770. I changed 600 USD and the last +20 difference meant just +12,000 IDR, but since there are 5 shops over a line of 100 meters, it did not cost me more than 10 minutes to ask all of them.

All this applies to the rates to sell USD. I don't know it that would apply also to MYR or SGD, but I don't see why a shop offering better rates for USD would not also offer best rates for SGD.

I have all along been using gif file to create posts,just that this time,the files were much larger as the timing of the moving picture last longer. Its a challenge doing that up as it took me quite a while to perfect it. (longer process if I am making those gif myself,from creating it to setting the right timing,resizing to fit things in later and then to be looking for a suitable stabled picture uploading site to upload it)

Its now still on testing stage and currently not sustainable to have too many gif file in one single post. Its not stable ,in case you haven't yet notice,hehehe...

From a personal perspective, it would be best for one to go to Batam to see and seek for themselves rather than I post the 1 out of 10+ best girls from every booking joint to try to capture anyone's attention.

To bro AsuraWrath, yes...Elvin no longer works there anymore. And yes,sinta tendered her resignation. According to her,she should be leaving on Sept and will soon be clearing leave on Aug.

To bro Blackpage, according to staffs not from the reception, there is a change of management head/s,change on the way these people do things (probably trying show the big bosses how well they could excel) and they set a few new regulations which didn't favor most senior staffs,hence I get to hear a lot of grievance on my last trip. (honestly, one of the reason why I was a little demoralized in the beginning of my trip)

Above info were gather from various departments of the hotel becos if I ask receptionist dept directly why certain people from their dept were resigning,no one is going to tell me the truth. So I went to another dept to ask why certain people of a particular dept were resigning (vice-versa). Do note the info were what I hear from various sources on a certain date and not calculating in any last min of the respective staffs if they had a change of mind on a later time.

Back from my 2nd Batam Solo trip.
Took the 1045 and reached Biz hotel at 1120am(indo). Heavy rain and sea rather rough, lucky Horizon ride still comfortable to catch a short nap.
Reached Biz. Hotel smaller but new comparing to Formosa. At 435k for deluxe room. Not bad with in room Safebox.
Based on the marked out map provided by our senior bros here had shared, proceed with my Cewek hunt. Reached Happy8, saw the fat mami sitting outside(last trip she quoted mi 1.3juta for a rather offspec semi syt.).Decided not to dropby, walk over to New Berry. Not bad, at least 20+ gals at ard 12noon. Saw a friendly lady having lunch when i walk in, too bad she already been booked. Will bookmark her for next trip. Papi Atek was recommending with 3 newer fair skin gals for 1.3juta, look over all 3gals face black black. Den tis gal caught my eye as she smile and wave at mi. Asked Tek, 1.4juta.. told him i come without Ojek, finally settled for 1.2juta. As i stayed Biz hotel, they cant deliver cewek to hotel(maybe coz lift using card access).So end up, took the gal along. Went opp New Berry for Seafood soup.
After dropping my gal barang, went Nagora Hill to kill time and lim kopi. The mall rather empty. Spent a good 2hr at the mall.
After a quick shower, she started cat bath and bbbj mi while i autorom. After a good 10mins, capped up and pump her on missionary. She moan hard and loud. Released after 5mins. Rest.
For dinner, we walk over to the nite hawker beside citywalk for ikan bakar. Food was reasonable but slightly on the salty side. Damage was 130k with stingray, sotong, kangkong and drink. After dinner, walk over to the micro- brewry for some craftbeers. 3 pints for the price of 1 sgd pints. Ambient was good with live band and seen like we are the only customer who keen with their music. . Was surprised the gal cant handle beer too well. After 1 pint she was getting high and ask if i wanna watch her dance naked. :D quickly settled the bill and rush back hotel.
She turn on some techno music from her hp and started dancing while of coz taking off the clothing.. cut the story short, she capped mi up and started riding on mi. After more than 20mins. Released 2nd shot.
As need to catch 610am ferry, wake up at 5am. Hard on after i saw my gal naked after she took her shower.. Pin her on the bed and released the 3rd shot.
Tipped her 150k. Packed up and rushed to Hbay.

I have all along been using gif file to create posts,just that this time,the files were much larger as the timing of the moving picture last longer. Its a challenge doing that up as it took me quite a while to perfect it. (longer process if I am making those gif myself,from creating it to setting the right timing,resizing to fit things in later and then to be looking for a suitable stabled picture uploading site to upload it)

Its now still on testing stage and currently not sustainable to have too many gif file in one single post. Its not stable ,in case you haven't yet notice,hehehe...

Been a long while since visiting Batam, but from the FRs, seem price of gals has risen quite high no doubt the SGD has risen against the Rp. 1.2 to 1.5 seems the norm for SYT now. and the 3 rds rule quite interesting.

Happy 8 & Bunga were sm of the higher-end joint nw. It can go as high as 2 juta on weekends. There r still lower-end bking joint like sedona,PI & indah2 ard.

anyway, just wanted to know if possible...BSC area still clean area right, not much curi action ard there? just some good food stalls and a mall.

In ani money chger,always check at least few nearby shps for quotes IF U WANT to get the better rate. i'm not implyin tat u shld go hunt 4 the best rate all ovr btm,but more of if u stayed in formosa,just go opp there ask a few shps,cos it won't cause any1 to drop 1 stray of hair. Money chger shp usually only jus a few steps away frm each other. Max time taken is jus few secs thg.

i check on 21 july rate @ opp formosa is 9650,so if u chg 100 sing,the variance btw yr rate & the 1 at opp formosa,its 10k diff. If u chg 200 is 20k diff. If u stay 3D2N u probably chg abt 500,tat'd be abt 50k extra. No need 4 me to spell wat u can do w 50k rp xtra in btm.

Fery terminal & shoppin mall's variance btw small downtown money changer shp is usually 100rp to 200rp for 1 sing $ diff. Every exchg gives u 10k-20k extra for 100 sing $.

Only thg u better not do is, dn't blur blur specially go take taxi/ojek 2 opp formosa jus to chg money frm there. Tat'd reli be a stupid move. Go 4 those shps where u stay close by to & at yr convenient free time w easier access. Whole trick is,approach places tat has a whole stretch of money chger within sight bcs w competition,rate shld usually be better & ask at least 3 shps 4 their rates.

A lot of information I have wrote,many of it I have written for reason/s to allow myself to back track my pace and future trip-plan-reference if I ever need to,but it has also become info references for some bros who were travelling to Batam as well. Over some time,i just go on doing what I am doing right now.

To get good rates,try opening mouth to ask in at least 3 shops nearby & not rely on eye power. First quote from their mouth is always the worst rate. ;)

Yes,i agree with you but I would say that is more for new visitors in Batam. For myself,i have mainly 1 or 2 regular money changer to cross reference with. In the beginning,i have told them I wont be returning to them EVER if I find them not giving me the BEST rate (that's if I ever move around to make comparison). Nowaday,the rate can at times be send to me via sms,hehehe...or just a call away. Not much effort needed.

When I started staying in Formosa in 2012, I remembered the price was always around $60-65 depending on weekday or weekend.

2 more fairly alright hotels that has dropped its price since when I 1st started 2 years ago in Batam was Gideon and Goodway. They used to be priced at similar price with Formosa's S$67 in 2014 but both were around S$50 (even below) today.

I was wondering where on Earth got such a hotel which charge cheaper and cheaper over the years despite inflation taking place and the hotel also constantly keep improving its facilities...

That's the power of competition. More hotels coming up with not enough tourist to stay in,everyone fighting for market share especially with the many 3 star hotel around. It all benefits the end-user like myself.

No wonder Formosa will never be out of business because of its loyal customers over the years

That's the game they are playing now,hehehe...trying to gain more regulars.

LaiLai cheapest standard room also increase from 180k few years ago to now 250k.

Another example is Lovina inn Nagoya used to charges 230k for standard room but now has raised up to 290k with promotion only.
without promotion is 300+k

Nowadays want to find a hotel below 200k per night at Nagoya area seems a bit difficult as hotels keep revising their hotel room rates...

I think below 200k would be relatively be quite rare unless you wish to pick Hotel 18 and the New Hill Home stay hotel.

If I don't remember wrong,w/o breakfast at Hotel18 was 180k per night stay. Still quite a good value as their location was near the Utama area/Nagoya Hill Mall. Basic on most of nearly everything there, like wifi,air-con,toilet etc for a good bonk were provided. With more of such hotels coming up,no wonder many hotel management felt threatened, hehehe...

May i consult your expertise on some queries;

1. Is it safe for me, alone as a solo traveler to enter the booking joints alone? (will I be targeted as carrot or even robbed? )

2. Do i pay upfront for the cost of booking the girl, example 900K IDR to the OKT and request the girl to be send to door at my hotel room say at 7pm evening ?

Is there chance i will be scammed of the money if i pay in full?

3. Are most hotel generally Girl-Friendly? so there is no need for me to registered their document with the counter ?

1. There are 2 definition of being safe in your 1st question; being Safe from having carrot-chopped and being Safe from getting robbed. So far I have never once heard of any bros who gets robbed in established booking joints be it solo or in group, but once a blue moon,i will hear some bros got chop-carrot. My definition of carrot chop in a booking joint means a girl who was priced at 1.5 million rupiah,he didn't bargain and paid in full whereby another bro who goes for the same girl pays only 1.3 million rupiah. Or a girl being priced at 1.5 million rupiah,but he pays 1.6 million rupiah and higher for her. Anyway, most Sillyporean who were shy enough (or having too much pride) not to bargain usually gets chopped anywhere.

It is Indonesia business culture to bargain down a verbal quoted pricing.

2. Yes, you will need to pay upfront. And you can request your girl to be deliver at your desired timing. By far,i have not hear of any undelivered girls but I do heard of girls being delivered late becos the girl overslept or met with some 'accident'. For precaution reason, always get a name card from the joint or if they didn't have,get the phone number of the OKT who deals with you. Of course,they can purposely scam your money yet you cannot do anything about it but the consequences for them will be a stain to the joint's name which eventually brought them less customers when word of such gets out.

When you pay in full,it is usually about S$50 to S$150 (base on my own definition of overnight girl pricing). But they scam you,they will definitely lose more than those amount in $ if you start telling everyone in this thread about it.

3. Let me know if you can find a non-girl-friendly hotel in Batam,hehehe...(joking here,becos base on my understanding every Batam hotel is girl-friendly) you go to the joint,you tell the okt which hotel and which room number you will be staying in,and he will tell you if he can deliver them (in case you stay too far,like Montigo Resort/KTM Resort etc). There are some hotels that require card keys to access different elevator (aka lift) level, meaning if you stay 3rd floor,you cannot access 2nd floor,4th floor,5th floor and so on...don't worry about it, most OKT will be smart enough look for the receptionist on duty,and they will usually call your room to confirm via talking to you to see if you are expecting any guest/s. There is no need to register any document with the hotel. If you wish to play even safer, you can however keep the receptionist on duty informed in advance that you are expecting some guests.

I would still ask of you to read my signature links if you are heading to Batam for the 1st time. If you did,you will know that the whole process of going to Batam is like going to Sentosa.

I think the key is to open mouth to ask the rate. I ask 1 shop,they quote 9800,i usually say thank you & walk off,some time they will stop me & ask me how much i want,i always tell them "few shops away,over there offer 9820,can you give better?" If they can't ,i walk off..if they offer same,depend on mood,some time walk off,some time i just change there. But never never tell them next door shop offer 9820,they will mostly ask u to go there change.

Some time,the next door shop is a so called brother-shop or belonging to same owner. So they knows each other's rate.

There is still gem to be found in Batam. Just came back from a 2D1N trip. Got a 19 years old, petite and good service cewek for 1.2 juta, bargained down to 1 juta. And i was drunk and didn't give her tips the next morning. Never kick up a big fuss also.

I think the key is to open mouth to ask the rate. I ask 1 shop,they quote 9800,i usually say thank you & walk off,some time they will stop me & ask me how much i want,i always tell them "few shops away,over there offer 9820,can you give better?" My room cost 450000 superior twin during hari raya
The room was very stuffy and air con very weak. Keep sweating and even at night during my sleep.
The WIFI is almost non existence, I have to keep going down to the reception area to use the wifi at the lobby seating area.

The place is Sam's Lodge. At Soi 18 Sukhumvit. I'd just finished pumping a puying from Thermae Cafe and is sending her out of my hotel. I'm not nono, but can share a similar experience.

One of my cheong bro got a very sweet girl from the same joint that i got my 19 yo sweetie.

Like you, we expected to get full refund since no sex took place. But, in the joint boss position, maybe he suspected his girl play trick and die2 want to earn his share of the booking fee.

We could have pressed on. But, with the cash in our hands, we decided not to, just for the point of not wanting to put ourselves in danger.

Anyway, we went back to an earlier joint where my bro has 2 bookmarks (and me 1) and book one of them. He can barely walk the next day. At least, the replacement booking turned out for him (and me), else I'll feel bad with the whole episode.

I tht i had a bad enough trip in my last summary,i think your situation even worse than mine...i truly feel very sorry about your bad experience. I think nowaday the girls came out with new pattern so I guess i have better reply you 1st.

Solution to your issue base on experience:

Do you carry the joint's name card when you book a girl from 'whatever' joint you book your girls from? They count to account for the clothes they WASH FOR YOU. You will see the number of pieces of clothes on the note they give you. Minimum 1 Kg also lah. If not how they cover the over heads?

Completely agree with you on your statement.

Planned to sit 0940H Horizon ferry to Harbour bay but when I reached at 0900H saw there was a timing for 0915H so fast hand fast leg board the ferry. I still prefer Horizon ferry since its more comfortable and smooth for me. For those who dont want to queue when reaching Batam customs can take their business class, allows you to get out of the ferry first and have a pirority queue

If I were to visit Batam on weekends,i may take the business class. Just to beat the crowd but weekdays,it doesnt make a difference.

Time check and I was very early, so I walked over to Nagoya Complex and search for any decent cafes, sad to say I didn't find any artisan cafes over there so just settled at Godiva cafe for my morning coffee(about 20k) while waiting for the RIA Ayam Penyet(22k) to open at 11.30am.

Good job,at least walk to get a feel of how the surrounding is like.

After brunch walked over to find Goldbird as my first stop for shopping. This is the part I guess many brothers got abit lost, I searched around Goodway hotel(the whole area behind it,every alley) and found nothing.

When you are at Goodway,you are already in the wrong direction. Landmark point should be Batam Star (or Lai Lai Hotel),walk behind Lai Lai hotel and then circle the building opposite (there are 2 buildings opposite, so you just have to try out),you should find Gold Bird. It is now w/o a sign board,so you don't see the word Gold Bird written there (no Sedona words either,just a blank signboard).

And just to add,there's really not many good reviews on Gold Bird recently,neither are there bad ones. Just that service level is more consistent there. Remember,they are the only booking joint that i would say has near 100% book out rate consistently even on weekdays.

So now I knew only new Berry and Happy 8 have girls but I dont like the New berry OKT which is obviously trying to make me a carrot head. So decided to head back to Happy 8 and just pick a girl for the day, went inside have a good look, spotted a late 20s girl with slim figure and nice curves and was quoted 1mil so I agreed. This is a misjudgment which can happen to anyone. Who would have known the girl who shows interest in you were actually old bird in Batam bullying a 1st time batam visitor.

Food (about 250k)

Look like you spend quite a bit on hotel food. Should have take up their free membership to get a 10% off. It only took 10 to 15mins time to register yourself a membership.

Alisan KTV (700k for 2 jugs and lady company)

You bill will exceed a million rupiah if they have a room for you. Its weekend,so always good to book the room in advance if you have made an earlier plan to be in a KTV. You may reserve their room via the hotel reception during the earlier part of the day.

Taxi/Motor (250k)

Try offering 20k for a motor ride and 40k for a taxi ride and see how much of the 250k can be cut back.

Total: $390~

Day 1 of the trip we were all millionaire (we all feel powerful with our money),going back home time we were all poor man,hehehe...and many times we will be wondering where did all our money goes to. (from millions to zero)

Rome is not build in one day,if you plan to see and try everything in one single 2d1n trip,its gonna be all rush rush. I cannot enjoy myself if I am in a rushing mode. Take your time,slow your pace. Plan beforehand, have alternatives, try one thing at a time, its part of their culture to take things more than twice as slow as in Sillypore.

You learned something in this trip,didnt you? If you plan to try Batam again,try to adjust your expectation since you more or less already knows what Batam has to offer. In most cases, if 1st trip isn't good,2nd trip will usually be better. I am sure after the 1st trip, you would know what you are looking for. The other side of the grass in the opposite side of some mountain is always looking more tastier if you have not taste it before. Who knows the Alishan KTV girl would be worse than the Happy 8 girl you got, and the Indah2 girl too? You never know until you tried them out, right?

I am sure you knew where goes wrong in your trip. Do you think you will be making those same mistakes you think you have made again? I doubt so. If you are still planning to go to Batam again, may your next trip be better this one. And base on experience, unless you start getting all picky and demanding (when you don't understand their culture) which will eventually spoils your mood,i am almost sure your next Batam trip...will be better than this one.

My guide says to take Horizon ferry ,debarking at Harbour Bay also cost S$48,thats if you wish to follow my guide (which is on my signature). Try googling Batam center and Harbour Bay to see which terminal is closer to Formosa Hotel. (pretty much common sense here)

Yea,i think when it comes to point accumulation for some free night stays in Batam Hotels,Hotels.com and agoda does it better (given their range of hotels to choose from). The membership plan is only good for discount on their retail outlets. In case you haven't realize,their restaurants (Vienna and Tea story) has up their food menu prices by more than 10%. And they took away their original 20% off (for Viena Restaurant). So meals in Formosa hotel were actually more expensive than in the past regardless of any kind of membership status I am in now.

A gentle reminder, do test out the Goodway Hotel wifi...as its a weekend. It was not very good the last time I was there nearly 2 years ago ,even when it shows 4 out of 5 bars signal strength.

Just an update,over the last 3 days...all jackpot shops were closed due to some big shot police head coming to Batam becos of some terrorist attempted-attack at Sillypore from Batam.

I don't know if it will be open today.

Today will be open. Yesterday night nagoya hill despite opening but was disturbed by having 15 cops sitting outside in the bistro forcing the cigarette dealer to have a half day off. I had to carry 34 packets of cigarette to another dealing point near siang malam at 10pm. My friend was not so lucky, was told that they had ran out of stock for cigarette. They are to keep their coins weighting at least more than 5kg (for redemption value at around $200) and come back tomorrow (which is today).

The mutton soup near siang malam and the steamed chicken at hotel bahari is still as delicious.

1 of the thing I have to adjust myself to in Batam is,i learned to reject many people many times the moment I step out of hotel in 1 single day from ojeksss to taxi driversss to newspaper sellers to street singers and than to beggars etc; and then repeat the process again on the same group of people the next following day or even the next moment I return back and then have to step out of hotel again, hehehe....this kind of situation dont just happen in Batam.

By the way, anybody can recommend a very very good dick massage in batam? Look preferable, but if it's that good that enough look & age doesn't matter, i'm in as well. Doesn't need to end with happy ending.

This time round, I'm here from Saturday to Sunday. I already had a pre-booking on Saturday, so no report on that. Hotel was full though at Formosa. Luckily, I managed to get a room at Goodway with good price.

Come Sunday, I was at a crossroad of deciding whether to stay on for another day or return. Last night was good, but due to lack of sleep throughout the entire week, I spent more time sleeping that fucking. Only expended 2 rounds.

I tried my luck and go hunting at Hotel Ultama area. Get someone I like and I'll stay. Else, is home sweet home.

First stop, Bunga massage. By the way, it's already 4pm when I'm hunting. About 12 cewek left. Decided on one 20 years old which the Chinese mommy says is good working. But, price at 1 juta only. Alarm bell signal. Bunga is known to the whole world for having high price. This girl with 7/10 looks, and aged 20 only 1 juta? Something is wrong. Not entirely their fault, but then being almost a monopoly is the issue. I was almost late for my ferry this morning. And it happens that I don't have enough rupiah to pay for ferry ticket. They can't accept SGD which is their management rule. Instead of telling me nicely (I'll the customer after all, and my attitude had been nice up till then), the counter guy choose to be sarcastic. Fine, I proceeded to withdraw cash from ATM and instead of telling me I won't make it to the ferry, the counter girl just took my payment and that's it. We would have thought that by allowing us to buy the ticket and collecting the boarding pass, we should have no issue boarding the ferry right. No. Instead, I'm told to wait for the next ferry 1.5 hour later.

As i can't wait that long, I took the refund, took a cab to Batam Centre and boarded a ferry that is 30 mins earlier and at 60k cheaper.

Which made me think...

The main issue here is that Horizon is almost the monopoly at HBB. Even at HBF, they even had the balls to tell me to pay up for the boarding pass, and to return to then if I'm not able to board the ferry.

Well, for those who planned their troops week and don't expect changes, Horizon might be suitable for them.

For me...well, since I tend to make late changes to my travel plan, it becomes I'm open to be held hostage by them.

Then, to think again, I dropped at Batam Centre this trip cos seats for 1045 ferry was full. No worries, just pop over to Batam Fast and grab a ticket to Batam Centre. Taxi to Goodway Hotel cost me 60k. Even if I take from HBB to HBF, it would cost me about 40K. Yes, HBB may be near to Nagoya and is within walking distance. But, pray tell, how many of us regularly walked to our hotels anyway. I don't.

Plus, usually you can save some dollars for ferry tickets to Batam Centre.

End up, I think I might be landing more often in future.

Bro Hawkeye007 gave a good perspective. He was right. At one stage I used to go to Batam every week, then 2 weeks once and now 3 weeks or 1 month once. So I spare some time to watch movie and also looking at Indo ladies. To me I prefer mature and office kind of ladies.

Yes,i must say,after reading the whole ordeal,i think its not entirely their fault too. But i dont think monopolizing has anything to do with your case either. The only thing i find them monopolizing is their pricing. Imagine they sell their ferry tickets at S$38 (or less),all other ferry operators will suffer. Many who travels via Batam center will switch to embarking at Harbour Bay instead (since they are faster by 5 to 15mins and at similar price).

I was almost late for my ferry this morning. And it happens that I don't have enough rupiah to pay for ferry ticket. They can't accept SGD which is their management rule.

Put the exact same rushing scenario at Batam Center,i think situation will be worse off.

(its like you didnt bring enough for a 1.2 million rupiah girl you like,so you go withdraw some more cash but when you come back with the money,the 1.2 million rupiah girl already book by someone else)

Instead of telling me nicely (I'll the customer after all, and my attitude had been nice up till then), the counter guy choose to be sarcastic.

Fine, I proceeded to withdraw cash from ATM and instead of telling me I won't make it to the ferry, the counter girl just took my payment and that's it. We would have thought that by allowing us to buy the ticket and collecting the boarding pass, we should have no issue boarding the ferry right. No. Instead, I'm told to wait for the next ferry 1.5 hour later.

I took Batamfast before,i think they too have stringent rules not to accept other currencies too. Whatever brand of ferry company it is,they are the sellers,trying to sell you the tickets (and issue you the boarding pass),but whether you can get pass the entry point to the ferry is entirely not up to them to decide.

Your incident reminds me some years back when China used to give Singaporean visa-free stay for up to 30 days and in one of the year they changed it to 14 days but when i traveled to China,i took it for granted that it is still 30 days and i over-stayed till the 16th day. SIA counter at Bai Yun airport (GZ) however still advise me that there is a certain risk factor that the China custom may not let me thru. But they still go ahead to issue me the boarding pass. I was lucky,i got to past thru since that custom guy just chop my passport w/o looking into the details,like date of arrival to China. Its an SIA plane (with some top notch customer service) i am taking and they do give certain advise on the risk factors i have to take but what happen if i am taking other airlines? I may not get the same advise. (i was even told in advance i may be fine $2k RMB per day of overstaying)

What i am trying to say is,if your scenario were to be from another Ferry operator and/or in another ferry terminal,will the situation be any better..or perhaps worse off? Honestly speaking,base on my limited knowledge on ferry traveling and what i have heard from several taxi drivers with customers who face your situation at Batam center,it may likely be worse. Gate closes earlier in Batam center so you have to be there even earlier.

i will never forget Batam Center sends back an average of 50 Singaporean upon arrival to Batam for talking loudly and using HP. Not Sekupang Terminal,not Harbour Bay ferry Terminal,not Nongsa Ferry terminal...its Batam Center (its all in the news).

The main issue here is that Horizon is almost the monopoly at HBB. Even at HBF, they even had the balls to tell me to pay up for the boarding pass, and to return to then if I'm not able to board the ferry.

Its the norm,bro. Batamfast will tell you the same thing under the same scenario.

Well, for those who planned their troops week and don't expect changes, Horizon might be suitable for them.

For me...well, since I tend to make late changes to my travel plan, it becomes I'm open to be held hostage by them.

Actually i feel that Horizon ferry in Harbour Bay is more flexible in many aspect as compare to Batam center (eg,Harbour Bay allows less than 15 mins check in time,even 5-10 mins at times too). I am one who make many last min changes on my ferry timing,and going by Harbour Bay enables me to be in better control whenever i made any such changes. The difference is,i dont like to rush things,it almost always wouldnt turn out well. i do tends to plan for bad situation in case i am faced with one, the same reason why i often have a plan B.

Over my last 2 year plus in Batam,there are handful of things i cannot control.

1. i cannot control when the haze is coming where ONLY Batam center will halt all their ferry service (for half a day)

2. i cannot control the Batam local from protesting near Batam center (causing traffic jam)

3. i cannot control the seabed at Nongsa where it is more rockier during low tide (a ferry sank there somewhere last year)

4. i cannot control terrorist from spreading flyers that they plan to bomb certain area (fear inducing)

5. i cannot control terrorist from firing a bazooka to Sillypore in an area where Batam can see Singapore. (sekupang)

6. i cannot control Batam center custom officer from sending me back to Sillypore when they already have a history of sending back an average of 50 people per month (as stated in news)

7. i cannot control when someone tries to smuggle something into/out of Batam Center (since its always crowded there which makes smuggling easier) and got caught

If i dont remember reading wrongly in the old thread,in Sillypore changing of ferry timing (to a certain number of times) need to pay extra few dollars,but in Batam back to Sillypore, changes were free.

Then, to think again, I dropped at Batam Centre this trip cos seats for 1045 ferry was full. No worries, just pop over to Batam Fast and grab a ticket to Batam Centre. Taxi to Goodway Hotel cost me 60k. Even if I take from HBB to HBF, it would cost me about 40K. Yes, HBB may be near to Nagoya and is within walking distance. But, pray tell, how many of us regularly walked to our hotels anyway. I don't.

The main reason/s why i prefer to go thru Harbour Bay Ferry terminal is becos I can be in better control in many aspect beside the 7 points above. And i will never have to be held ransom by any taxi driver/ojek when they dont drop their prices,hehehe...becos i know i can walk anywhere i wish to go to from thereon. Not that i like walking from Harbour Bay to hotel in every trip,but what happen if there is a "if"? Like a riot? A taxi driver protest? Haze? Rain? Some political big shot coming to Batam? It has happen before,and it wont stop happening in future.

Plus, usually you can save some dollars for ferry tickets to Batam Centre.

End up, I think I might be landing more often in future.

If i make it a habit to travel via Batam center,imagine the many uncertainties which are beyond my control on my Batam trips. Even if i may save a few dollars,i have to leave hotel at an earlier timing,or reach hotel at a later time. The waiting time to chop my passport,the time for the ferry to reach the harbour,the crowd due to many ferries debarking there,the queue...last but not least,i ask myself...if i am a terrorist,to choose a ferry terminal to bomb,which one will i pick? Hehehe.... :D

You know where the main problem lies? Base on my experience,it lies with Rushing and Bad Timing. You were fighting against time hence the unhappiness builds up when things dont go according to a rushed plan. It happens to me before.

In conclusion,fix your 'timing' better next time. Put the exact scenario in another ferry operator landing in another terminal under the same rush-rush situation,you may just end up worse.

I don't disagree with a lot of your point. It depends. Like I mentioned in my post, I'm an impromptu traveler. The examples of me landing at odd timing like 7pm or 3pm shows that.

Yes, the timing and the rush could have been a contributing factor but the way the counter staff behave when I'm at my most polite behavior is really unacceptable for sales staff. Maybe it's his general dislike for doing the morning shift and having to deal with this, but, hey... You're customer service staff. Many a times, I had to changed to taking batam fast from HBB and I don't get similar crap from the batam fast staff, maybe I do speak their language well... Which brings me to my next point...

Bro, we travelled together to batam at least 5 trips liao leh. For you to have made such an observation on me... Hmm.... I was searching around and ticket for ferry to batam centre is available at $31.50 all taxes paid and no such condition as must travel in pair. I ordered a few tickets and will see how it end up.

I have said it,the fault lies with that counter guy.He's the customer service person serving a customer,definitely not right to be rude to customers of any type. Yes,i do know you speak their language,but they may not have know unless you converse with them in their language .

On the other hand if you speak to them in their language,he may have thought you are a local and this could also be the way they treat a local which they thought would be alright. The situation where one see ghost,he ghost-talk,he sees a human,he talks human. Treating different types of people differently isnt exactly uncommon in indonesia.

When comparing 2 sets of staffs from 2 different ferry companies (both Horizon and Batamfast staffs at Harbour Bay),i usually look at their manpower size and their volume of customers they have to handle a day. One of them has very much more staffs,was more often in a rush-rush situation,constantly busying non-stop (especially during fri to weekends) and the need to constantly handle things efficiently,whereas the other one has practically no one entering to make inquiry in most parts of their day (Batamfast only have 4 trips via Harbour Bay per day).

Speaking from one who is handicap on the language itself,I have no doubts with your language proficiency (not the least bit). I was actually trying to imply that he/she (the counter staffs) may thought you do not understand their language,you know the type of behavior of "suaning behind your back" on what they think you may not fully comprehend (eg,like scenario of the chap chai girl in one of our trip) but its just not his luck that day that you happen to know what he is saying,hehehe...which also seems to somehow tick you off a little.

This part of you getting a little tick off,is very unlike the usual 'you' becos the 'you' i knew wont be so fire-up easily which leads me to relook into your situation by putting myself in your shoe. And the main culprit base on my reading of all the written scenario would be, the rush-rush situation. You were in a race against time,yet some guy/s seems to be trying to hold you back (not forgetting their 'cant be bothered' and 'take own sweet time' attitude) and the added sarcasm only worsen the entire ordeal.

Lesson learned : i will try my best not to get into such rushing situation ;)

Hehehe...i am actually looking at Batamfast. The cheaper version of their ferry tickets between Harbour Front to Harbour Bay and vice versa. Harbour Bay w/o doubt is a good place for me to land,but i would prefer to have a plan B for the future,in case one day Horizon decide to fail me (tho it hasnt happen yet). Not forgetting Batamfast ferry is also a ferry that allows smoking,hehehe...and i am a smoker.

Batamfast has 4 timing to Harbour Bay :

910am , 1150am , 615pm and 910pm

...its other 4 timing from Harbour Bay to Harbour Front :

930am , 215pm , 7pm and 920pm

You are consider lucky that those bad luck befall only near to end of your trip. Imagine in the beginning of the trip,stepping out ferry already kena bad luck,the rest of the trip sure to almost smells stinky.

Just like Goodway hotel may sound good to you but to me,their receptionist were not good,and i suspect becos i got my hotel from Kaha therefore they are giving some sub-standard service from the very beginning (and i stayed there for 2 nights).

My incident was when I was queuing to get checked into Goodway,and when its my turn to be serve from the queue,the guy who were suppose to serve totally ignored me and the family behind me got served instead. Imagine that...,of course i need to count in it was peak season,everyone at the reception was busy and that becos i took from Kaha,they may have mistakenly took me as a local and i assume they mostly want to serve foreigners 1st (becos foreigners could be tipping them more there).

$400 for 10 tickets to HBB (Batam fast or Horizon) is good deal. I'm getting $31.50 for Sindo Ferry to Batam Centre / Sekupang.

I got my room via Agoda. So, maybe they thought in foreigner. But, the counter girl, Juwita, is very attentive to my requirement.

Yup, change signboard but other stuff remain the same, except that they had 2 more service level at higher price tier. Wouldn't recommend anyone to go there as well. The only reason I'm there today is that I'm on a day trip and their room comes with attached bathroom. Else, no way will they earn my money.

Happen to chance upon all the ferry companies from the Singapore Cruise Centre and run thru them a little :

From Harbour Front alone :

Batamfast Ferry makes about 12 to 14 trips to Batam Center daily

Sindo Ferry makes about 12 to 14 trip to Batam Center daily

Majestic Ferry makes about 12 trips to Batam Center daily

From Tanah Merah Ferry terminal :

Batamfast makes about 9 trips to Batam's Nongsapura ferry terminal daily.

Notice how many ferries were embarking at Batam Center? Thats not counting others not from Harbour Front or other neighboring countries. How not to be crowded? How not to get messed up one day in the long run?

Batam itself is already unpredictable enough,hehehe...I go Batam to relax and enjoy myself,i just dont wish to be face with too many uncertainties and even more unpredictables for simple traveling matters.

Actually i feel that Horizon ferry in Harbour Bay is more flexible in many aspect as compare to Batam center (eg,Harbour Bay allows less than 15 mins check in time,even 5-10 mins at times too). I am one who make many last min changes on my ferry timing,and going by Harbour Bay enables me to be in better control whenever i made any such changes. The difference is,i dont like to rush things,it almost always wouldnt turn out well. i do tends to plan for bad situation in case i am faced with one, the same reason why i often have a plan B.

Over my last 2 year plus in Batam,there are handful of things i cannot control.

1. i cannot control when the haze is coming where ONLY Batam center will halt all their ferry service (for half a day)

2. i cannot control the Batam local from protesting near Batam center (causing traffic jam)

3. i cannot control the seabed at Nongsa where it is more rockier during low tide (a ferry sank there somewhere last year)

4. i cannot control terrorist from spreading flyers that they plan to bomb certain area (fear inducing)

5. i cannot control terrorist from firing a bazooka to Sillypore in an area where Batam can see Singapore. (sekupang)

6. i cannot control Batam center custom officer from sending me back to Sillypore when they already have a history of sending back an average of 50 people per month (as stated in news)

7. i cannot control when someone tries to smuggle something into/out of Batam Center (since its always crowded there which makes smuggling easier) and got caught

If i dont remember reading wrongly in the old thread,in Sillypore changing of ferry timing (to a certain number of times) need to pay extra few dollars,but in Batam back to Sillypore, changes were free.

The main reason/s why i prefer to go thru Harbour Bay Ferry terminal is becos I can be in better control in many aspect beside the 7 points above. And i will never have to be held ransom by any taxi driver/ojek when they dont drop their prices,hehehe...becos i know i can walk anywhere i wish to go to from thereon. Not that i like walking from Harbour Bay to hotel in every trip,but what happen if there is a "if"? Like a riot? A taxi driver protest? Haze? Rain? Some political big shot coming to Batam? It has happen before,and it wont stop happening in future.

If i make it a habit to travel via Batam center,imagine the many uncertainties which are beyond my control on my Batam trips. Even if i may save a few dollars,i have to leave hotel at an earlier timing,or reach hotel at a later time. The waiting time to chop my passport,the time for the ferry to reach the harbour,the crowd due to many ferries debarking there,the queue...last but not least,i ask myself...if i am a terrorist,to choose a ferry terminal to bomb,which one will i pick? Hehehe....
