I don't think we passengers and the grab/Go-car drivers will kick up the fuss.
The "local" driver will...

Yes,i believe that too, that fuss often comes from the local touting taxi drivers.

We got to understand that that local drivers have to pay the landlord to operate exclusively.

Now, this is another thing that i am quite curious about. If they already paid the landlord an X amount of money, why didnt they also joined the Grab or Go Car apps as well? Thereafter, they can have the BEST of the whole world,picking up passengers from landlords as well as picking up passengers from apps. Rather then now grumbling on business not as good as in the past due to this and that, blah blah blah...

There is S$2 , S$5 and S$10 on the floor, a normal human will pick up all the notes but why would they choose to pick up only S$10 and reject the other denomination?

I notice a small handful of more intelligent local touting taxi drivers took themselves up as Go Car drivers too, which i thumbs them up.

All the more should support Gojek and Grab drivers. Hardworking folks with lower income per assignment.

Actually ,most Go Car and Grab driver in Batam are probably part timers, judging from their driving experience, the type of cars they use to pick up passengers and their limited knowledge on knowing how to reach my destination. I think most were probably holding some full time jobs some where.

From my conversation with one Gojek last year, many signed up with Gojek and Grab after being laid off from their jobs in factory. So, yup, may not be part timers but new to the drivers job. Hence unfamiliar with routes and destinations etc and a lot don't know how to use Google Map for routes.

Maybe those private taxis, on seeing how low the tariff is and not knowing about the bonus system, decide not to sign up. After all, they have been having it good for soooo long.

I thought maybe I would share a different info for not so newbie bros who might venture into normal everyday life ceweks instead of pay per play type. Instead of just WL, Batam do offers their own version of girl next door working in offices.

I categorised the ladies into 3, the poor, the worker bees, and the well to do.

1) The poor, if you date them, these ceweks will appreciate any kind of monetary help from you, be it payment for sex or "taxi fare" reimbursement. They like a good treat like a meal or some affordable gifts. Some works in shady places like massage parlour and pubs, some in other areas of Batam doing nothing or doing very very low paid job. You are expected to pay for everything when they go out with you, but if you do have sex with them, at least give "taxi money" to them, 200k to 500k. Some bisyar ceweks and freelancers, part time or full time fall into this category.

2) The busy worker bees; these ceweks have jobs and may not be available during weekdays, but you can still date them after work or during weekend. You are still expected to pay for their meals, and a simple request to watch tv in your hotel room is good enough excuse to bring them into the room. Otherwise you can give lame excuses like ordering food using go food and eat in the room. The trick is to make them comfortable enough to be with you,and this is not too difficult as long as you are polite and considerate. Some girls drive the motobike and you can explore their bodies on the motobike... Errm correction, you can explore batam city using the motobike, hahaha.

3) The well to do; Batam well to do girls normally drive a car, both cheap or expensive. Batam have no COE, so if they are well off enough, they or their families can afford a car. I prefer dating these girls, they still eat at local places but would not insists you pay all the time, they will offer to pay some of the time although not all the time. If sex happen, you should not pay them, cos they will feel you disrespect them if you do. Dont even offer "taxi money", they drive a car hahahahah. With her car, both of you can explore most areas of Batam and even have hanky panky in the car if she is fine with it. The well off girls of Batam are not as stuck up as Jakarta girls and they are normally friendly and will treat you as exotic foreigners the same way that our Singapore sarong party girls treat the bule(angmoh). The good thing is that some chinese batam girls falls into this category along side with local immigrants like the Javanese, Sundanese etc, they are prettier too.

4) Bonus info on Indonesian normal girls: If you find the Indonesian girls are very service oriented and like to please, you will find that having normal girls as friends with benefits, the girls will try to please you in bed even though she is not experienced enough. Just be polite (ramah tamah), be patience (sabar) and teach her how to do it.

Now for the negative aspects. Your patience will be stretch waiting for your indonesian ceweks, they are often not in time. If you arrange to meet them at 1pm and you actually arrived late at 1.30 pm. You will find out later that she is still at home and need to shower first before getting ready to dress up to meet you. She will turn up at 3 pm. So be very patient hahahah.

Hope these info helps and if you do date Batam girls, you can improve your Bahasa Indonesia and expand your pool of girls in big numbers to include those girls who cant speak English. You can navigate further too and include cities beyond Batam and Jakarta.

that's the problem there lor. the "local" drivers are so used to the high fees we pay for the transportation there they can don't do much and tag around with you just for the few trips you travel out and have enough for the day. The mere presence of Grab or GoJek threatens their livelihood of lesser trips/more money per day.

Much often, i would look from the perspective of both Local Touting taxis, GoCar/Grab drivers as well as Silver Cab and Blue Bird taxi drivers. And they are usually quite contradicting if its being look at from only one angle view.

Lepak one corner and smoke till you are done with dinner also can. Cause x3,x4 gojek/grab prices.

Local Touting Taxis :

They are full timers. They held full time jobs as a local touting taxi drivers and they have the most number of taxis in Batam

Grab/Gocar taxi drivers :

They are mostly part timers. Most of them can live w/o being a Gocar/Grab drivers. They only go to customers at their convenience. Its easy job, pick up, drop off but need to do it all at the right places.

Silver Cab/Blue Bird Taxis :

They are full timers too. I think they are the most poor thing among the 3 lot, often squash in between Grab/GoCar companies and Local touting taxi drivers. How many of us actually uses them here? Their pricing were metered and traveling cost is about between GoCar/Grab's lowest and Local Touting taxi driver's highest.

I do put some thoughts on this too - If GoCar/Grab taxi driver's non-driving full time job were threatened, how would they feel? They might probably become mad too. Just like the Local Touting taxi drivers whose full time job were "taxi drivers".

Then again, playing hooligan and resorting to violence isnt the way out as it really piss off tourist like myself. The solution i could think of is blending into the market pool of online taxi apps companies (Grab/GoCar) whereby the Local Touting taxis still gain the edge since they were operating full time. They can join Grab/GoCar and try to pick up all "S$2,S$5 and S$10 notes on the floor". Laziness (Sloth) is a sin. If one choose to play lazy yet expecting to earn more, then i think its not fair.

Few trips ago, i took a Blue Bird taxi when i order for a GoCar. :D

If there is no Local Touting Taxi and ONLY Blue Bird/Sliver Cab taxis and GoCar/Grab left, end of the day end-user will still suffer too. Just like the current Sillypore situation whereby no group/s will stand out to spoil the market for everyone else. Taxi companies will increase their price as and when they wish to.

Illustrative example :

I read bro Blackpage's FR, he pays 50k rupiah (no bargaining or haggling at all) for taxi from Harbour Bay to anywhere in Nagoya some 7 years back, today he is still paying the same. Trying looking back how much was Singapore taxi fare around 7 years ago and then compare it with today. Will bro Blackpage still be paying 50k rupiah in the years to come? (make a guess) Hehehe...and what is the price for Sillypore taxi fare in the years to come,especially when GST is set to go up soon? :p

Anyway, above-said were just some thoughts of my own and bits of sharing.

True that a handful of them got retrenched,hehehe...but judging from the quality of the car they drive, i think they should be quite well-off on their job.

Recently i hear of one (or some) of them actually rent a handful of new apartments and then re-rent it out to make money. Hmm...Indonesia, a land of opportunities (if you can find it).

The code is good because the price is fixed and comes with breakfast. Meaning to say, regardless if its a public holiday eve or long weekends, price is fixed. Can also reserve their electric kettle too,hehehe...

According to my friends who frequent Batam, they no longer order the rooms with queen bed anymore,hehehe...in fact for all the hotels they stayed in, they dont take the King or Queen sized bed from any hotel room anymore. Why so? :D

For cleaner and better quality rooms, they always take room/s with 2 single bed. (room can be the same type, but quality of it can most time be rather different)

Again, why so? Becos after being in Batam for so long a time, almost everyone of of my Batam friends know...2 single-person hotel bed can be merged into ONE bigger then a King sized bed (just ask housekeeping to do it). And 2 singled bed rooms were most often under-utilized in Batam.

Under-utilized probably also means better quality. This,i believe is especially so, for smoking room...hehehe...and it solve the last min, no-room issue too.

Arrived at Batam harbourbay ferry terminal in the and went to check in at the hotel. Managed to get early check in at Harmoni suites. Not a bad hotel. Rooms were clean and big. Paid $52/ room and would recommend to all.

Once checked in and dump our stuff and proceeded to Area A and B for reccee. We ended up picking girls from MM (paid 1.6 juta and 1.4 juta) and The Link's (paid 1.4 juta each) for the first day. Remember what fellow bros said so bring them go fill up the stomach first then went back to hotel for 1st round. Mine was pretty young (age 22). Not a bad bonk. Chatty type which i like.

After that went for dinner at wey wey then head over to M-One for KTV and PUB. Damaged for the session there was 2 juta for 50 cans of beer to party at both places.

2nd day: My friends picked the same girls (got 100k-200k discount) and i changed a girl (wanna try others). Same thing go eat and all go do medi/pedi (apparently pampering them a little helps in night action). Went back to hotel and i try out my new girl. This time kana a shy girl but boy she was crazy when naked!

Head over to dinner at The Link pub over at Nagoya Citywalk. Many pretty girls were sitting there (wonder are they available also. Hmm....)

Night action follows and check out the next morning.

Overall, i feel that Batam is a good playground. Price is decent and girls are accomadating. But heard that there are much more to be explored. Pardon me for being noob but if got any seniors going may i tag along and learn off you guys? :)

380k rupiah and S$40, not much difference. Note that all orange ticket if you manage to buy it, check expiry before commit purchase. Usually they expire quite fast,within a month or 2.

I didnt expect myself i can sell them to some coffee shop uncles and aunties at S$45 when i buy at either 380k rupiah and S$40 too,hehehehe...now can travel to batam via Horizon for free. :D

I hope this promo goes on forever (dreaming tho).

The orange ticket you mentioned, have to be purchased in Batam. No use to me unless *someone* can help me bring from batam to sg without significant markup and without having to go the end of the world to meet up for collection. *Wink* I also quite stingy one, you know.. :) So far, only Horizon Ferry tickets are not open ticket. Other e-tickets for traveling to Batam Center are open tickets, i.e. free to utilize them within a 2 months period

Anyway, I'm buying 1 way only. And, as you know, I've been buying e-ticket for more th a year plus, without issue. Hopefully this is including taxes and fuel surcharge. Maybe not "travel to Batam for free", but to use HBB paying only $30 is already a big savings. I'm contented liao.

A lot of apartment block launches in Batam but they seems to going pretty slow in building. Checked out on Baloi apartment when i was in Grand Batam, the sales agent tells me (via a translator,hehehe..) it will take roughly about 3 years, tentatively between end of 2022 to 1st half of 2023 to complete and collect key.

I saw Citra Plaza's poster (the one you said still drilling) that states 95% of the apartments of it were sold out. :(

I think by the time they start 1st 2 storey of the block, it would becompletely sold,hehehe...so i think i might have to skip this one or just wait for tower 3 to be up for sale. :o

Notice the above photo, Starbucks have no lights...but the other side opposite starbucks has lights? And they are on the 1st floor. So i assume ferry traveling wasnt affected,hehehe... but ferry booking at respective ferry counters on 2nd floor would surely be affected tho. :p

Anyway, blackout was quite a common sight (especially during peak season) but this one last more than 5 mins and in a international ferry terminal. My 1st time encounter. :D

Thanks all for sharing about this trip. Went to batam over the weekend for a 2d1n trip and stayed in Formosa and it was quite an experience. Am still new and not sure how to write a review but will try my best to share my experience.

Stayed over at Formosa and it's quite a decent hotel but for those who would like to have safe deposit in their room, please note that they only have those in their suites only. As for those who would like to have lie down in the bath tub like me to relax and smoke, please note that the tubs are only available in the deluxe rooms only on the 3rd floor.

Reached on Saturday and walked all the way to the hotel and it was kinda easy. Also for those who are like me and do not speak Malay, can try to download Google translate app and download the bahasa Indonesia translation for offline translation. It helps.

Upon checking in, was kinda tired plus tummy not feeling well, ordered the in-house kings massage to room service and was told 120 per hour. When the massage lady arrive, she was a small fleshy lady who don't speak much English and we converse mainly using the app. She wasn't really my kind but I remembered that there was a lot of advice to lower the expectations plus am kinda unwell, thus took her in and started the massage and it was worth it as she has really strong hands and she can use them well and not a time watcher. She asked if required special service and which I asked about the rates and was quoted 1.2juta and non negotiable which I turned down.
I will rate her massage and customer service as 8 while her looks at 7.
Not sure if okay to share her name here for those who would want a good massage thus if anyone who would like to know can just pm me.

After that, went window shopping at Nagoya mall and back to hotel to wait for a lady who message me thru michat, but we'll, sad to say she didn't turn up and thus nothing to comment much.

On Sunday, got another girl from michat before check out and luckily, this time this lady turned up. Rate was 200 for 1hr massage and 700 for st.
Looks was a 7 and was a time watcher but though she doesn't allow backdoor entrance, she won't mind people to play with it while entering from the front. Sorry, can't describe much cos kinda turned off by the time watching and was pumping all the way but just wasn't able to finish off the job and she was complaining that I overshot my time. In between , switched a few positions and even ended up going raw but just no mood and since she kept asking to add on, I say forget it.

Avenger endgame starts today and i was surprise that all Batam theaters ONLY screen Avenger endgame, meaning if you wish to watch other movies, there is none to choose from.

I dont know if this is just today or gonna be longer, but its crazy...i guess the respective theaters probably has done a lot of advance ticket sales for this movie. :D

It was a public holiday during my 1st day there, so i guess due to the over crowding, hence they remove the pillows on the bed. Above photo were taken on a weekday tho.

Benefits of these theater room is at any one time, if i didnt count the total number of seats wrong, there wont be more than 34 person inside it. So its not crowded and get lots of privacy.

Good food wise, everyone has a different definition, i am probably the last person to know about good food in Batam,hehehe... my good food were mainly Nasi Goreng and Chicken rice. Yes, i am a boring person when it comes to good food,hehehe...sorry bro.

Food court wise,hmm...

To see more girls, go to Windsor Food Court (famous for their pretty-looking beer girls).

To see more aunties and uncles, go to A2 Food Court (high chance of bumping into someone you probably know).

To see more locals (and some small percentage of solo tourist), go to Lovely Food Court and Utama 98 Food Court.

To see tourist by the truck load from tour agent (during late noon), go to J8 Food Court.

The above mentioned were the more popular bigger-sized food courts within Nagoya premises that has more varieties of food. I dont really take sea food and rarely have them, hence i do not know which food court serve the best sea food. Do note that most sea food seller in these food courts sells their sea food w/o a price tag, so do remember to check prices 1st with the waiter serving you before ordering.

We missed the appointment. I quickly bought my ticket (one way, standard price $32 if I am not wrong) yesterday and I rushed to my island.
How the hell did you find those promotions online? What are the T&Cs behind those free tickets?
I went to check the Horizon Ferry web site, before travelling, but I discarded the option to buy in advance the ticket, because I saw no savings and I could not buy an open ticket.

I beg your pardon if I disappoint you, but IN ALL CINEMAS there are low-light cameras, to monitor the situation in rooms at all times. The goal is checking if there is anyone prisoner when they close, or if there is anyone bullying or robbing, but this time I think they were happy to look at your action during the movie.
The operators should give you a free ticket in change of the happy time you gave them, at least (ooopps, a ticket for two persons)

I entered Harbour Bay yesterday.
To avoid the hassle of registration, I went to the shops looking for a pre-registered card, as discussed in previous recent posts.

This time, I saw 4 or maybe 5 shops in line, right after the arrival exit door, plus some more boxes still empty.
All shops were manned by girls and only one by a boy: the last one to the right, with large Telkomsel signs.The boy looked teckie enough, so I went to him.

I bought one 4G Telkomsel card, with 2G+2G+1.5G+500M data (total 6G, but only 2G of full Internet browsing), for 100k.
The interesting thing is that (I report what the boy told me) this card is not registered, but it will be deactivated after one month if I do not register it using some real KTP/KK number via SMS, or my passport going to Grapari.
I am using it without problems, at full speed.

More in detail, this is what the boy told me. I cannot testify it is true or not, I just report it, but I notice it is partially in contrast with what I read on the web site of the operators! :confused: Welcome to Indonesia, the land of flexible Laws.

He said:

- This 4G Telkomsel card is not registered, but it is active now and will be deactivated after one month if I do not register it. This is in contrast with what I knew and I tried before, that is a card without registration does not have even a minute of grace period activation.

- Only Telkomsel offers such cards, which do not need registrations, are prepaid, and are therefore ideal for short-time foreigh tourists.

- He tried to register a card using random KTP and KK numbers, but it failed. He claims the system can check in real time if a KTP KK number is valid or not. I doubt, but he said so. I would like to try, if I have a card that neeeds to be registered.

- I asked a simple GSM card without data, only for calling. Telkcomsel does not have it. Only the 100k cards.
Therefore, he offered me a "3" card, for 35k, plus some top-up amount, which is PRE-REGISTERED and is active.
He does not know pre-registered using what KTP-KK numbers, but it words.

I went to check the Horizon Ferry web site, before travelling, but I discarded the option to buy in advance the ticket, because I saw no savings and I could not buy an open ticket.

I got those tickets from sites like Lazada, qoo10 etc. Note that when i say i got those S$38 to S$40 tickets from "sites LIKE Lazada , Qoo10", doesnt means its the site i got my tickets there. I didnt wish to advertise for those tickets. Horizon ferry tickets were very popular and sells by itself, no need me to advertise,hehehe..

I got my 1st orange horizon ticket from sites LIKE those sites i mentioned but later on i got it from some Tour agency shops and some Batam's money changer at 380k to 375k rupiah each. I missed your arrival,hehehe...possibly due to "fate",hehehe...otherwise i would have try to convince you to trade my one way Horizon ferry ticket (in blue) from Batam to Singapore which i bought for S$10 for 2 bottles of Teh Botel from you. :D

I missed the 1630 trips today was thinking of taking 1710 majestic or 1720 sindo. Saw big groups of tourist. So I move a few steps right and saw horizon showing 1700 for next trip. Thought there was a mistake. Double check and they said it's a extra trip.

I save another 45 more minutes. :D

I used to work in the airport when i was much younger and i learned that a lot of European customers who transit Singapore airport would PREFER to buy "display set" products on the shelf when i show it to them. Their explanation were almost same as yours. They tell me, display set of a product shows that product WORKS FINE and they tell me they are sure the company i work for, SURELY wont put a FAULTY display set for me to demo it to them.

For some Asian customers, its almost like killing them when i tell them to buy a display set,they will say something like, "so many has touch the product before, its like buying a 2nd hand product",hehehe...i guess its a different ways of looking at things. :p

I remember when i 1st ate Budi Siang Malam chicken rice at penuin wet market area, it cost me only 16k rupiah, a year or 2 later, it went up to 17k to 18k rupiah respectively (following year). Today's chicken rice shouldnt be costing 20k and more but well...it just did. (there is no price tag too, hence i also have a hard time ordering it on my own)

I actually feel more relieve when i notice the portion of chicken were around about 30% to 40% more as compare to other shops of the same name,hehehe...its "good food" to me, hence after finishing my 1st plate of chicken rice, i ordered another plate of the same thing, AGAIN! Hehehe... :p

I havent complete my Nagoya Citywalk food fair write up tho. There is another shop in the fair that is worth my time and its not chicken rice or nasi goreng,hehehe...:D

Due TO the traffic jam leading to lobby2 and carpark... Most hv to alight at lobyy1 or at the main road.

Last Friday I went to No Name. It is even worse than what I reported last time.
It was TOTALLY EMPTY, which on a Friday night is really outrageous.

The only people I saw there was a group of Indian guys, loitering right outside. You know the Indian style of loitering, if you have seen them in Geylang: a group smilling and standing without doing anything but watching a working girl.

So, this group was standing and smilling, while some Indo men were propositiong them the service of a fat lady sitting on the back of an ojek. At the end, the lady got off the bike and went to Harmony elevator with one of them, under the approving eyes of all others.

As soon as the Indo guys saw me going out of No Name, they jumped on me with "ladies ladies". I run away to head to Newton.

Last Saturday, some people in NoName, that is ultra veteran FLs, some Indo guys and Indian men. Several of them wearing flip flops and shorts.
What a disaster No Name has become! :(

Went to Batam last weekend with other friends. We decided to try M One ktv and what a surprised. The girls are not bad looking, out of 25 girls I think half is above average. The downside is the price of the cewek is slightly higher, range from 600 to 800k. Total spend 7M, inclusive the 5 girls.

You are misleading. Don't compare an apple for 40k with a peach for 100k.

For you it is the same, but a Telkomsel PRE-REGISTERED SIM card (or working as registered already) working at 20 Mbps on 4G with 6GB data traffic loaded is not the same as a 3G card from other operators.
If you don't see the difference, no need to explain further.

Btw, 100k is the same price, more or less, at any Telkomsel sale point (even if not preregistered). At Lucky Plaza, for example, did not offer cards that can work without registration.

Cheaper is not necessarily better. Try with fish at the market, rotten vs. Fresh.

These shops near ferry terminal are mostly cater for those who hardly come batam, even cigarettes are expensive. Anyway it's their own money, let them justify their money are well spend and the rest can get cheaper and better :)

Planet 1 also closed long time ago. The Planet Holiday pub F1 is now located where the P1 was.

But a security guard at F1 told me that they are working to open the new P1 disco in the building right in front. It should be open after Hari Raya, and it will be the largest and best disco in Batam (his words, which must be biased).

Place becomes like a swamp after the sea tide went down. Big difference on the 2 photos, but of the same place. There was no tide table for Harbour Bay, hence can only catch the photos on an 8 hours interval with some observation. Not so well-taken but i will do better next round,hehehe...

No wonder there are limited space by the bay to park the Horizon ferry. If its parked to close to shore, ferry might get grounded.

I add that NoName is now CLOSED, maybe forever. Their business was too slow lately. No trace of the past glory. Yesterday Friday I went to check, and I found this sign saying that from 1st May it's TUTUP.

Now, the best pub in Batam is Square, but opportunities there are not as good as in the old NN.

About the benefits, most of them are not interesting for me.

Room rates: I get a better rate anyway.

Free shuttle to HB: I admit I am lazy here. I think one has to book it in ADVANCE and on the web site, right? I never remember to do it, so I pay the standard 50k to the Formosa taxi when I rush to HB at the last minute of the last day.

Late check-out: this would be the best benefit for me, but I am used to check-out at 4pm, so for ONE HOUR after the 3pm they ask me to pay half day. I will try to look angry for that.

Free laundry: that may be interesting, but usually I do not need it, as I size my supply before leaving home.

Special discount at King's etc. Who cares? This is totally negligible, as the fee for any special service is much higher than the standard fees to pay to management. If one wants to pay less for massage ++, he better walks to Utama area, rather than showing the Gold Card to the massage lady while naked on the bed of his room in Formosa, begging for a HJ or BJ or FS with 20% discount.

FREE NIGHTS. That's the most interesting benefit of course. And I took advantage already.

Tipping depends on yrself. But i usually tip 200k max as all of these girls are better in service quality as compare to those in Utama side. After going there, i no longer hang around utama. :p

As I thought also initially, and as I wrote before, these benefits are for most part pure crap. It's funny to have a Gold Membership card at a hotel in Batam, but their practical relevance is negligible, with the exception of the free night once in a while.

On checkout, I tried to get a free transfer to Harbour Bay.
The table promises "4 times/year" for Silver and "8 times/year" for Gold.
Response by Mr. Ricky: "NO, you must book it online at least two days before and specify date and time for booking. If not booked onlilne, the price is 50k, as stated in this table of taxi fares."

I also tried to get the complimentary late check-out. I was checking-out at 3:30pm.
The table promises "Extend to 3pm" for for Silver and Gold.
Response by Mr. Ricky: "NO, Complimentary late check-out is until 2pm".
I rebutted about this table, which I had on my computer since long time ago (I think I downloaded from their web site? I can't remember) and he said there is no table promising until 3pm, only until 2pm. So, when I emailed him the table, his response was "This table is OLD, now expired. We have a new one".

I am Gold member at Marriott/SPG, but I would never book Marriott in Batam. Batam is Batam, and without Formosa for me Batam is not Batam.

Yes, because the rate is not the same everywhere in the world, still for the stay count one night is one night.
One night at Westin Washington or Miami USA typically costs more than 400 USD, but one night at Four Points Medellin Colombia or Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur is around 80-100 USD.
The difference is the chain name, thus the service quality, and the place.
I wonder what price will be proposed by Marriott Batam. I think it will be a bit higher or same as current premier hotels in Batam, such as I-Hotel or Swiss.

The usual morning meal have to be taken

As I thought also initially, and as I wrote before, these benefits are for most part pure crap. It's funny to have a Gold Membership card at a hotel in Batam, but their practical relevance is negligible, with the exception of the free night once in a while.

On checkout, I tried to get a free transfer to Harbour Bay.
The table promises "4 times/year" for Silver and "8 times/year" for Gold.
Response by Mr. Ricky: "NO, you must book it online at least two days before and specify date and time for booking. If not booked onlilne, the price is 50k, as stated in this table of taxi fares."

After reading this, i am so piss. Not at you but by what this Ricky guy says.

If he says what he says to me, i will definitely blow up right at the reception counter,hehehehe...yes, i feel so cheated in this one if i am standing in your shoe. They just didnt want to honor their member's benefits in your case which is the case why they lost MOST of my friends staying regularly in Formosa.

Let me explain further. Under their rules (on the paper i posted earlier), my friends were suppose to get a FREE return ride back to airport or ferry terminal. They honor that part for my friends, but why not yours? I do not understand. Is it becos i am not there to give them a piece of my mind? I'm not sure now.

If Ricky explain that YOU must book online 2 days advance to get the free ride back to ferry terminal, then why did he tells me that by booking my room online (from formosa website), i AM NOT ENTITLED to the free night stay promotion? Meaning what he says dont add-up from what i see.

Ricky tells me (last year) i need to book via EMAIL to get myself into the 1 night FREE stay promo for members,which i did (and i am sure you did the same too). BUT, now base on your conversation with this Ricky guy, he tells you,.. "Response by Mr. Ricky: "NO, you must book it online at least two days before and specify date and time for booking. Flip-flopping those rules already pissed lots of my friends off Formosa hence many of them no longer make Formosa their number 1 choice of stay anymore. But who cares (from Formosa's perspective)?! They have the good business now, the other regular customers like my friends were just "spare tire" to them today which they can do without.

And believe me, i am really angry even tho i wasnt affected by the flip-flopping regulations on paper. I still get my 2 way free pick up/drop off (yes,i dont need to pay even 1 rupiah for 2 way trip) , i still get my free room stay,hence i said in the past in this thread, a lot of things applied to me but MAY NOT apply to others. Which is the reason why i am angry now. Why all these double standards? :mad:

Read Batam news that it's 3+3+3 rule again this year. So at least I'm lucky my dates dun clash.

News also mentioned Massage places allowed to be open 6pm to 12 midnight. Nightlife places 9pm to 2am.

Can't wait to defile some sexy ceweks during their holy month. Maybe buy some dates for them to make up for it.

Free laundry: that may be interesting, but usually I do not need it, as I size my supply before leaving home.

This may rather be redundant to many, but i made it useful for myself by taking my overnight booking girl's clothes to the free laundry,hehehe...usually most booking girls come to the hotel with only 1 set of clothing which is the the set they were wearing,hehehe...being a nice guy, i volunteered to "wash" it for them. :D

Yep, i reflected this directly (and other unhappiness) to Ricky's superior too (the membership issues too). But too bad, this hotel is run by a very Chinese tradition, high-handed strict boss whereby not many Indonesian staffs could take the micro-managing,based on their culture.

(micro-management = boss personally check on them all the time)

The salary the staffs received were at least 20% more as compare to most other hotels in Batam.

I have met with quite a handful of ex-formosa staffs in other Batam hotels whereby they shared quite a bit with me as well,hehehe...needless to say, all of them arent happy working in their ex work place. Stressful is a common word used in our conversation.

However, I have to regrettably admit that I cannot stay without Formosa in Batam. It's a matter of feeling. If it wasnt becos Formosa is still the MOST convenient and accessible hotel; and has special rooms that i could NOT find no more than 6 in Batam, i would have probably drop them too. Not mentioning i do have lots of other privileges as compare to their other guest/s. :D

Today, if my friends who were not newbie/s were to stay more than 2 nights in Batam, i no longer recommend them Formosa. I find them some other alternatives,hehehe.... :p

I totally agree with your long post, especially how well Mr. Ricky is capable to pamper his customers, but there is a detail that maybe was misunderstood.
What Mr. Ricky said "NO, you must book it online at least two days before and specify date and time for booking. If not booked onlilne, the price is 50k, as stated in this table of taxi fares." is about booking online the shuttle transfer to/from the terminal, not booking online the room.
So, in his view, I should book by email the room, as I did, but also plan exactly the time of arrival (impossible for me, as I arrive from KL by bus and I want to spend some time at Vivo City) and of departure, to book the taxi in advance on the web site.
What is the logic of this? Just that he does not want that customers take this benefit in reality, but only see the promotion posted.

PS: I guess Mr. Ricky reads this, and will be very upset with me when I will return, but not with you and others because you already changed hotel.

Hmm...so how much do you pay for your weekly batam trips? As in per trip expense...wouldnt it be better to rent a room there instead for your case?

The breakdown cost of my trip is simple.

HB ferry $37 (your orange tix)
Hotel $30
Booking girl $100 + $20 tip
Food/Beverages $15

So it all adds up to ard $202 per 2d1n. I don't even need to pay for taxi & my $15 food/beverage is only when the girls didn't get me dinner, else it'd be way lesser. The fairly good hotel room were usually lesser than $30 most of the time. :p

Rent a monthly room, i need to pay for taxis to get there. Book hotel room no need. ;)

Sometime its those REALLY "little tiny things" that the girls who went the extra miles to do, that keeps people going back to them again and again and again and again...hehehe...you and i know those kind/type of actions arent real, but at least the initiative for their action were sincere (which any experience human being who live long enough can tell),hehehe...good enough,i guess.

I didn't like the idea of fuck & go,else i'll stay in Sg to monger better. I prefer to nurture a simple friendship type of relationship before action starts. I can't go full throttle mode when i fuck without any feelings. So this group of girls in those shops are very good in their own ways.

Can one find that in other part of the world? Maybe yes...but at what kind of price? And i see that in Batam almost all the time (among my friends's sharing).

I just did a more thorough count with a calculator, avg out the cost is abt $185 a trip to btm & what i get is what u see.

These shop/s with such girls got their basic right, they will last and wont be afraid of the lack of customers (just like the indo Chinese group). They probably might have one fear when it comes to customer service tho...too many customers. :D

Managed to top up my gojek at aphamart after update my account with the new Sim card I just bought in batam (have not tried with sg number yet). Just give them the mobile number at the counter, and the account name will appear on their screen. Some will ask you is it xxx(the account name). Next tell them the top up amt and pass the cash to them. Within min, balance reflected. Hehe.. First trying this. But they charge 2k for admin.. I tried it for my go car trip and at cgv grand batam mall. So is less 1k if pay by gopay, normal trip is 11k and I pay 10k for go car.

Whenever you use a Go Car or order food using Go Food, those guys delivering the service/s can also help top up your Go Pay for you on the spot (which you can double check if the amount is in),hehehe...not sure if they would charge any extra comm tho. :D

Using Go Pay is fun, isnt it? Save a bit here and there but when you sum up all the amount you saved, can be quite substantial for a 3D2N trip (or more) in Batam. I like it when there is no delivery charges at times when i order Go Food,not forgetting some shops offer 30% cash back,hehehe... :p

The key problem most of my friends has is, how to keep their indonesia number for as long as possible w/o the need for registration. I totally agree with your long post, especially how well Mr. Ricky is capable to pamper his customers, but there is a detail that maybe was misunderstood.

There are actually 2 set of promotion for Formosa shuttle service. One for the member, as you have seen on paper i posted earlier. The one with FREE transport back to ferry terminal/airport.

The other one opens to everyone including non-member-ed guest/s who booked via email or even their hotel's booking site, whereby you tell them the time of your arrival and departure. You pay 50k rupiah, the hotel covers you both way, to and fro.

What is the logic of this? Just that he does not want that customers take this benefit in reality, but only see the promotion posted.

This is exactly what i am trying to say, its most likely Ricky is IN REALITY do not want members to take up that benefit of FREE transport back to Ferry terminal (Batam Center/Harbour Bay,in fact they didnt state which ferry terminal, i could just add in Sekupang and even others too). Or simply, the guy who tells you that is....drunk.

Believe me, i took the free transportation to Hang Nadim airport before. But in the end i choose to pay the transport at 110k rupiah becos i wish to see my girls off at the airport (more than 30 mins ride to airport,longer if it rains) and follow by the driver dropping me off to Harbour Bay again (another about 30 mins again).

Alternatively, i can also have Formosa send my girls to the airport and i use the (pay hotel) 50k rupiah for 2 way transport through Harbour Bay-Formosa,which is cheaper. But then, if i do, i dont get to see the girls off to the airport.

PS: I guess Mr. Ricky reads this, and will be very upset with me when I will return, but not with you and others because you already changed hotel.

I REALLY hope he did. In fact, i hope the boss read it too. But i doubt they will bother even if they do.

But knowing Indonesia's inconsistency in terms of of customer service and service level (in their service industry), i cannot expect too much out of them, unless i completely dont use those member's other benefits to my favor at all. I now have their member's benefits, plus "others" too. I still use formosa, just not as much as like in the past.

Let's not forget, there is also FREE upgrade to better rooms in Formosa for members few times a year too. Imagine, i book X type of room and got upgrade to their top of the range XXX type of room,hehehe...bigger room, can accommodate more girls. :D

Went to Batam last month. My ferry gor delayed by an hour and hence immigration queue was longer than usual. Given this was my first time there and I did not know about the grab / gojek driver issue, took 30 minutes to finally board a cab to hotel, which meant i reached hotel only in the evening instead of afternoon.
