Its a choice, and everyone has that too. And i have made mine. ;)

Getting a balance is good,having one is even better. What i knew was that the truly wealthy were often more humble than those who looks fwd to be there, yet couldn't reach there. Those were the empty vessels, making the most noise. Like u've said before, attention seekers.

Public places in Batam is a lot like public forums too,hehehe...in Batam, taxi driver can keep calling out to you, "Taxi!" , "Taxi!"...i have a choice, i wave my hand signalling "no"...and says, "Thank you" if i am not in a lousy mood.

I look to enjoy Batam, not seeking trouble there (and anywhere else). Everyone would often look at things differently tho.

The one who has the last laugh often has the best one,hehehe...and most time, i do it in silence. Instead of spending time seeking who's good or who's bad, i would rather spend time seeking my kind of fun,hehehe...in Batam, of course.

Long time didnt visit Relax Massage, so thought i would try out and update their price list as below (opposite Formosa Hotel) :

I went for the 1.5 hour of Hot Stone massage,hehehe...and only cost me 180k rupiah. This place really have no lack of customers. Could be due to its very low pricing. Massage skill from the massage girls is still no match compare to Aiko or Manzu tho. I had a feeling even Linda and Bridge would do it a little better than them too. Then again, it really depends very much on luck to see if you got the "right" therapist....hehehe....i have a good time, but my friends didnt. :p

The above rating is an average review from 4 different person, including myself who has tried all 4 mentioned places before comparing with Relax.

If i didnt remembered wrong, when i 1st started Batam 6 odd years back, the price for Relax's per hour traditional massage cost 70k rupiah an hour, it went up 80k rupiah few years later and follow by 90k rupiah. Now? Traditional massage cost 110k rupiah per hour. So can imagine King Massage at 120k rupiah per hour isnt really that bad huh? Hehehe...thats not adding in my 20% discount.

Oh and by the way, Relax Massage's foot reflexology is done by guys and not girls (i asked). Other types of massage is done by the ladies tho.

3D2N Weekday Trip FR(2 Person)

Day 1.
1. Took the 9am Ferry From Harbourfront. Reach Batam around 11.
2. Took our driver, and check in first, after which i went to try the hotel massage, and after that went to 3 Joints. Bunga, MM & Happy if i'm not wrong.
3. Went to Dc mall and bought some snacks and went to pick up cewek at Bunga for 2 nights.
4. Reach Da Vienna Hotel which is at 2.
5. Order some food from go-jek.
6. Tried to get laid but both cewek had attitude problem.
7. Around 8-9+, friend msg me saying he wanted to change cewek, so contacted our driver and bought them back to bunga.
8. After changing cewek, bought them to seafood 'restaurant' called PONDOK near planet hotel.
9. after eating, went back to hotel.

Day 2.
1. Woke up around 11+ and shower. cewek wanted to bath with each other. so we had to shower alone. MOOD DOWN
2. After shower, went to eat breakfast at a place called SERDEHANA.
3. While eating, plan to watch a movie called Makmum(INDO Horror)
4. After which, went back to hotel and plan to go some KTV.
5. Turns out my cewek was sick, so decided to call off KTV, and just eat at hotel using GO-Jek and Grab service.
6. Relax at hotel till the next morning

Day 3.
1. 6am. woke the cewek up, and told them to go bath but they didn't want to bath, so let them be.
2. Call for grab for them to return to base.
3. Went back to hotel, and get our breakfast which had lontong, nasi lemak, spaghetti, cereal, cofee, tea, cold drinks, eggs,
4. After we had breakfast, tried MICHAT, a photo resemblance of a model, but came a different kind of person.
5. After which we went to check out, and went to a massage near the ferry and had our lunch at a place called, kampung (something2)
6. Proceed to wait at ferry and just share between ourself the review of the 3 days.
7. took the 7pm ferry and back to sg.

Short time cost 500k. but out of my friend goodwill, he just pay 400k. (driver nego with bunga mami)

if u dont pay them, then they wont earn anything after their contract end.

2. once u reach hbf, there will be 3 moneychanger near the exit door at ground level. dont be shy and ask them whats the rate, cause they dont follow the actual rate i think. 1 of them quote me 10400. i took the one on the right facing the door. which they gave me like a plastic envelope to keep my money. xD

ya, i agree wit u...lol...mani sgrean stay hdb but mostly all cash rich de. The older gen of rich ppl in sg is more humble than 3rd gen rich ppl whose father, mummy,grandparrot who is rich. Sm r the ppl who make mani noises tinking other is poorer than em but in sg, tose richer than tose vessel is can line up until sg to jb....lol

What i learn from my driver and cewek is that.

If u book them and decided to change them without paying them anything,
1.THEY(cewek) get a scolding from mami infront of others
2.Won't get that booking money after contracts ends(for example: 500k wont be added to their pool of total money)
3.They keep track of their earned money using 'slip' which they redeem after contract ends.
4.their total earned is not exactly 1.3j.( 1.3j divide by 2 or something which they get back 565k+)
5. They rely on TIPS from Tamu(customer) to last them till the next Tamu or till end of contract.
6. They have never gotten book more than 2 days, usually fuck n go or just 1 day.
7. Their Contract last 7 Months is what cewek told me.( can extend if wishes so)
8. the youngest cewek so far that i got is 18yo.

This building have been in the same state for at least 1 year already.

Which is why i am still looking out closely,hehehe...well of course, other than the Formosa Residence that is almost done up. :D

One of the reason i hear from the locals about those type of abandoned tall building blocks that were built halfway and hang down there is becos of the local government. I dont know how to describe its situation but in my own words, the local governing body wants some share of "everything",developer/s cant afford to comply.

At 1st anyone would have thought that developer goes busted but the locals tell me ,not true. The authorities has been "picking bones" until the project has to be abandoned. Anyway, its just hearsay...i just listen with one ear out. One of my main concern about buying too tall a building block is...safe or not? Will stay halfway collapse or not? :eek:

In batam, how fast the building is build depend on the sales of property. If happen to buy an apartment that is slow in selling, then have to wait long long for it to complete.

Note taken on this one.

If that were the case, all the more i need to be extra careful with my future property purchase in Batam.

Tis one puzzle me. If other vehicles can pick up tamu at the Harbourbay terminal, then why cant we bok grab driver? I mean the car just like normal car...not those taxi model. No one really know tats a grab car unless they have a big sticker on the car? And i can be discreet and ask them to pick me up somewhere but still within the terminal premises, no?

Online taxis, Hotel taxis (those w/o hotel logo) and mafia taxis can look quite similar in just TOO many ways.

Actually i dont totally blame those mafia taxi touts, the tourist or those using the online taxi apps were partly to blame too. They know they will get threatened or be getting into trouble with mafia taxi touts if they order taxi online in Indonesia. And when they planned to do that, they actually do it so OPENLY in public, holding their mobile phone, moving about with the apps opened up in PUBLIC places allowing the taxi touts to know (and see) they are ordering online taxis.

The whole thing about those taxi touts aka mafia taxis can be simplify and didnt have to turn out so violently :

Ordering a taxi online is actually very simple. Grab a taxi, remember their car number, their car model/color, keep phone inside pocket and wait for the taxi. Hehehe...for me i would light a cigarette walk around to wait. By almost the end of my smoke, my taxi arrived. There is no need to keep holding my phone to see/track where the driver is (even if driver cancel my order, can always get another one in another 10 mins time).

Complicated? Yes, mainly for tourists (I think) who lacks common sense.

Its simple logic made complicated and usually its the ignorance of these kind of above mentioned tourist that brings trouble to the online taxi drivers. They were the ones getting beat up, and/or have their vehicles turned over, set on fire etc etc. Usually the tourist were able to get away with it becos of some "hidden regulations" between business owners in the area and the mafia taxi touts. But they werent gonna go easy for those online taxi drivers.

Try standing from the Batam online taxi driver's perspective, and imagining you are one of them, do you DARE pick up "ignorant tourist" from Nagoya Hill Mall or any ferry terminal? Answer is pretty much obvious,right...hehehe...

Grab and other taxis a tourist booked "online" via smart phone apps were not allowed unless its at designated area (which is often out-of-the-way).

If not wrong, even Blue Bird an Silver Cab which are operating by meter werent allowed in similar designated area ,like those that of online taxis (Grab or Go Car) in Batam. I can understand the plight of the Blue Bird and Silver becos Blue Bird taxi is in blue and Silver cab is Silver in colour. The obvious colors tell them apart. But Grab taxis and GoCar looks just like those touting taxis hence they gotta the upperhand, hehehe...

Hotel taxis however has all along been allowed to pick up their customer/s anywhere.

All in all, as i look at it from the whole picture so far, taxi stand within convenient location for tourist infested area were SPECIALLY made/reserve for taxi drivers (mafia taxis) who paid "tax",hehehe...these "tax" obviously do not go directly into the governing body's wallet or to any government department.

Mafia taxi = pay "tax"

Online Taxi = didnt pay "tax"

Quite similar to Singapore whereby Grab/Gocar/Uber cannot park (and wait) at designated taxi stands that were convenient for tourists/passengers.

In the case of Batam, due to their dis-organisation, not many can tell apart mafia taxis over online taxis. Which is why i read news in Indonesia that mafia taxi driver/tout often mistaken private car drivers as online taxi. They end up getting into some trouble.

(news of this Indo guy going to airport to pick up his family from airport but due to mistakenly taken as online taxi, has gotten his car flip over)

Just thinking out loud...:D Just for the record. I am not trying to save. Just like BP said just a pathetic rp10k. But matter of principle. I dont really like taking those supir from Harbourbay.

Different country different culture hence different practice. Understand them before travelling would often gets me further on the road. ;)

Every dollar and cents counts for me and i pick the solution that best suits me.

The only place i do not take taxi from is Nagoya Hill Mall tho,hence i only visit this mall either when i stayed in a hotel near it. Or, if there is a shuttle service from the particular hotel i stayed in that goes there. Other than that, its a no-go for me, unless well...hehehe...a friend with me paying the fare.

Even before entry of grab services i always took hotel car/van ( not cheap) to Harbourbay terminal.

Before the entry of Grab/Uber/Gocar, i use :

1st few years : I hire a full day taxi, that covers me for 2D1N at 250k/300k rupiah.

Next few years : i use hotel taxi shuttle, which is often FREE :D

Today, i continue to use hotel taxis but i wouldnt mind paying 30k rupiah at Harbour Bay to go to anywhere within Nagoya area. From Ferry Terminal to Hotel, if i can only make one choice between :

1. Online Taxi (Bluebird and Silver Cab included)

2. Conventional taxi

3. Hotel Taxi

I pick number 3, hotel taxi anytime,hehehe... :D

Many reasons, one of it is safety which is my in number 1 on the list. 2nd would be...its FREE! The best thing in life is free,hehehe...but i am not so stingy like what most Batam girls say about me,hehehe....i still tip between 10k to 20k rupiah upon reaching hotel to them (hotel taxi driver) if its an unfamiliar face or when the distance is very far off, eg. going from hotel to Hang Nadim airport. :D

3rdly, i feel like a novelty with the taxi driver holding out a sign board with my name on it at the ferry terminal Arrival Hall...the hotel driver would help carry those uncles and aunties luggage too,hehehe... 4th, i get to laugh last at the tourist/s waiting for taxis at the taxi stand, "see! i pay zero rupiah and you have to pay 30k rupiah for a taxi ride",hehehe... :p

U tour guide for uncles/aunties ya? One day uncle Aaron also wish to join ur group lah. :p

Yes, but in small group of 2 to 4 person mainly and the tour was more like a friendship trip with no "real money" involved (not going to elaborate that part). I remember once there was this hawker center committee who ask me to bring 151 people to Batam, but i have to push it to some tour agent instead becos the crowd is way too big for me to handle alone,hehehe...i dont have that kind of head better not wear that kind of hat.

But is true...especially those from PG. For them 5 mins walk can be a challenge.

I didnt know that until i brought 2 elderly aunties together in a group of 7 in the past. The 2 couldnt walk fast enough, hence dragging down the entire group. Thats walking from Harbour Bay Ferry terminal to Harbour Bay Mall, and i have to tag behind in their foot speed to make sure i leave no one behind hence making me extra tired during that trip. To me, its a "failed" trip even tho they seems to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves (becos they say they want to go again and with me to lead). I said failed becos i did not plan it well enough on that one. Tho they have never blamed me, but i still feel guilty.

From that day onward, any aunties and uncles who joined me in my Batam trips, i will get those respective hotels to come pick us all up without hesitation, regardless of distance.

PS : That time, whole group of 7 (excluding myself), 4 were from pioneer generation, the rest all collect their Senior Citizen card already. But only 2 has walking issues, one needs a walking stick. i end the trip with a last part program of a 1 hour foot reflexology in a MP room with only 10% light,meaning its almost pitch dark. All 7 of them dozed off in that one hour (can even hear them snore,hehehe..). So can imagine how tired they were during that trip.

Look at the map.
I assume you will be spending most of your activities in Nagoya, and you will have a room in hotel in Nagoya.
If that is the case, NO WAY I would recommend a friend to take a ferry to Batam Center. Go to Harbour Bay.

Some "hard savers" here may prefer to go to Batam Center, because the ticket is often cheaper. Even if you can save $10 or $20 on that ticket, you must take into account also the taxi fare BC-Nagoya, more expensive than HB-Nagoya, and that a taxi ride BC-Nagoya takes at least half an hour, while HB-Nagoya takes 5 minutes.

Personally, I would NEVER opt for BC to save $10. My time and comfort have way more value. (but someone counts the single SGD, so you have the option to choose)

Just came back recently. Took ferry from Harbourfront to Harbourbay. After clearing customs tried something different and book Grabcar Plus. Costs just 13k to my hotel hehehe... the problem is i had to walk all the way outside to Pertamina Petrol Station to avoid the mafia taxis.

Once reach hotel book Grabfood and had nasi padang for 33k. Went to Circle K and stock up on supplies after that. I RTF my previous cewek and after TCSS had 1st shot. Decided to watch movie at Grand Batam later.

Took Grab for 11k to Grand Batam. The mall is huge and clean because just opened this April. Decided to watch Makmum which is really popular in SG/MY until full house but empty in Batam hehehe... took couple seats for 42k each and bought snack platter, large popcorn and drinks. Total is just 260k, cheaper than BCS Mall cinema which is 340k.

To those who watched the movie already, there is 1 random jumpscare where the protagonist checks the cabinet. It made my cewek cried and i nearly throw my popcorn across the theatre hehehe... in SG i hate horror movies but when with cewek hugging me suddenly brave hehehe...

Went to BCS Mall via Grab and went to Monic Karaoke on top floor. Book a small room for 80k for 2 hours. There was a promotion 2 hours get 1 hour free so total 3hours. To be honest the room was not on par with SG standards. I'v seen better rooms during my cheonging days in Booking Joints KTV rooms. But it was cheap though with drinks costs just 180k.

Once reach hotel had 2nd shot and went to sleep. Morning had another shot and off she goes i'm single again hehehe... went for hotel breakfast to recharge my battery then get ready for check out. Took Grabcar Plus for 13k to Harbourbay for ferry to Sillypore. Enjoyed my trip and now have a fetish for horror movies to watch with cewek hehehe...

Indeed. Calling them "mafia" is unfair, I believe.
They are a group of workers (small entrepreneurs), who pay a fee to work in that place (a privileged place, because it is right at the outlet of passengers who have just disembarked), and therefore cannot be happy if someone else, who does not participate to paying that collective fee, enters and takes their business.

If providing taxi service in an area requires paying a fee, and this is regulated by a contract or some law, then those who do not pay that fee are not legitimate providers there, period.

Personally, I never took a taxi within Nagoya Hill area in my life, and I take a taxi from Harbour Bay parking to Formosa because of my luggage, fully aware that I am paying more than outside.
It's the price to pay for the additional comfort. Fair enough.

I assume you will be spending most of your activities in Nagoya, and you will have a room in hotel in Nagoya.
If that is the case, NO WAY I would recommend a friend to take a ferry to Batam Center. Go to Harbour Bay.

Same here,that is if my objective is cheonging in Batam (dropping in any other ferry terminal in Batam, is like i want to go Geylang but i take a taxi to Woodland). I have only traveled via Batam Center twice in my last 6 odd years visiting Batam (if i didnt remember wrong). The rest of the time, Harbour Bay ferry terminal is my preferred choice,hehehe....my comfort choice (like the Horizon advertisement says,hehehe...). Especially so in Horizon's Business class over the last 9 months, which cost S$12 extra on top of the ferry ticket price.

Regular Horizonfast open ferry Ticket : S$48 (direct from their counter)

Orange Horizonfast open ferry Ticket in SG online market : S$40
(can use to travel any day)

Orange Horizonfast open ferry Ticket in Batam travel agent : 375000 rupiah
(can use to travel any day)

Need to speak honestly,so far none of the taxi with the EZY Taxi has not over-quote me on taxi fare. Those i encountered quoting me 50k rupiah were the ones with NO EZY taxi logo on their vehicle shown on the photo (mafia taxi i suppose dont have the EZY taxi logo too). And it is always good to confirm the fare before getting up any taxi (be it with EZY logo or without) in Batam.

See? Nobody can tell if taxi without the EZY taxi logo pay "tax" (or Antrian fee) or not,hehehe...and they look almost like any regular GoCar/Grab taxis, right? Which is partly the reason why they were often mistaken. :D

From what I know, Majesty Spa doesn’t offer any extras. Unless you can somehow convince the masseur to give it to you. I’ve switched from Secret Soa to Majesty Spa due to the good service. But all in all, the boss of Majesty Spa is a really nice chap. He will answer your WhatsApp or email quite promptly and he’s quite accommodating.

I believe so too cause been to Majesty before though few years back and it was clean. Doesnt have that plus plus vibe too. But then, chance upon a site(name: polisitidur) listing Spa/MP with plus plus and Majesty was listed there while googling. Article dated May 2019.

In the case of Batam, due to their dis-organisation, not many can tell apart mafia taxis over online taxis. Which is why i read news in Indonesia that mafia taxi driver/tout often mistaken private car drivers as online taxi. They end up getting into some trouble.

(news of this Indo guy going to airport to pick up his family from airport but due to mistakenly taken as online taxi, has gotten his car flip over)

Before the entry of Grab/Uber/Gocar, i use :

1st few years : I hire a full day taxi, that covers me for 2D1N at 250k/300k rupiah.

Next few years : i use hotel taxi shuttle, which is often FREE :D

Today, i continue to use hotel taxis but i wouldnt mind paying 30k rupiah at Harbour Bay to go to anywhere within Nagoya area. From Ferry Terminal to Hotel, if i can only make one choice between :

1. Online Taxi (Bluebird and Silver Cab included)

2. Conventional taxi

3. Hotel Taxi

I pick number 3, hotel taxi anytime,hehehe... :D

I and my friends had very bad experience with those fuckers taxi drivers. Bad experience over at Tg Pinang and the old Batam Ampar. Like hooligans! Cheaters and crooks. I know they are trying to earn a living. But the way they doing business they are only scaring away tamus. But those encounters were many years back. Early last year encountered another experience with the taxi. It was raining and certain part of the road were flooded. But vehicles can still move slowly. I paid 30K for the trip to Penuin. Half way CB told me need to take separate route to avoid the flood. Told me to top up 20K. I mean i cant possibly say no and it was still raining. Tats why i never trust those taxi drivers at all. To each its own. Now tat they have grab and i will just bok them when going back to HB.

Same girl serving different customers can have very different attitude in btm (almost all the time) & if u are bringing prc/thai/viet girls expectation there, then btm wld unlikely be for u. Man's meat/poison theory apply & speaking on experience. Normally, i do not encourage my own frens to share their btm girl's contact info openly in public unless it's a truly bad experience (money got stolen,scams,ovrnite girl play truant etc).

Those who does that were possibly okt or sm one related in similar trade.

Worst experience with those fucktard supir was at Tg Pinang. Immediately after clearance of passport we wld head to the gate. Tats where all the thugs n hooligans eyeing for prey i.e. tamus. Pulling our bags even after we told them we dont want taxi services. At batu ampar sama juga. But at Batu and Balai no problem at all. At Batu we normally stay at Wisata. The wisma manager knew us very well such tat he will personally fetch us at the laburhan. :)

Took Grab for 11k to Grand Batam. The mall is huge and clean because just opened this April. Decided to watch Makmum which is really popular in SG/MY until full house but empty in Batam hehehe... took couple seats for 42k each and bought snack platter, large popcorn and drinks. Total is just 260k, cheaper than BCS Mall cinema which is 340k.

I brought food in, as in outside food not purchase from the theater counter (becos i was shopping there) and no one stops me, quite a surprise. And thumbs on this one. But i still buy drinks in as a form of support. Weekdays 60k for 2 person to share a bed,hehehe...or 2 person to seat on sofa seats.

At Batu we normally stay at Wisata.

The May 1998 riots period and that day Suharto step down, i was in Batu Taman Gembira watching TV on scene of Suharto step down. Suddenly exchange rate drop to 1juta = $100.
I like taman gembira coz very near to Batu Tujuh and always can see familiar face there, even go alone very fast make friends with those cheongster there. Few room converted to become gambling dens. Majong, card, all have. At nite open room door sit outside sure have many kaki to chat with.

Can't we just use the roaming service provided by SG firms? I am an M1 subscriber and it has a data passport for $10 per month plus $5 activation fee. M1 uses XL and Indosat.

It really depends on where you get your girls,. Ceweks from booking joints provide three shots or more unless the joints mentioned lesser shots during the booking. Ceweks from other platforms will provide one or two shots for LT booking unless it was previously agreed to be 3 shots and you are able to managed the situation by paying at the end, etc. Cheers and enjoy.

I went over to Baba Street food court in my last trip to eat my favourite roti prata (i brand it the BEST prata in Batam),hehehe...one kosong prata is suppose to cost 6500 rupiah (i asked the shop owner). So in my 1st order i ordered 3 prata kosong (the bill on the right side of the photo below).

The bill turn out to be 3 prata for 20k rupiah. We didnt notice this at 1st and while my friends were still hungry, so they ordered another 2 more prata kosong,hehehe...that was when the bill on the left-hand-side of the photo appears,hehehe.... 1 prata kosong for 13k rupiah.

We didnt argue/talk with the staff from prata shop over the the price difference since variance isnt much and we just laugh at the bill. To us, its just an after-dinner joke in how they calculate the bills.

I and my friends had very bad experience with those fuckers taxi drivers. Bad experience over at Tg Pinang and the old Batam Ampar. Like hooligans! Cheaters and crooks. I know they are trying to earn a living. But the way they doing business they are only scaring away tamus. But those encounters were many years back. Early last year encountered another experience with the taxi. It was raining and certain part of the road were flooded. But vehicles can still move slowly. I paid 30K for the trip to Penuin. Half way CB told me need to take separate route to avoid the flood. Told me to top up 20K. I mean i cant possibly say no and it was still raining. Tats why i never trust those taxi drivers at all. To each its own. Now tat they have grab and i will just bok them when going back to HB.

Hmm...come to think of it, i have not seen any senior bros who frequent Batam in SBF that never have had any bad experience with taxi drivers in Batam before. Even before i made my 1st trip there, and after reading the previously older Batam thread and already knew what kind of attitude those "baddie" taxi drivers is going to be, i still need to face it. Part of the experience, i guess. (or part of growing up?Hehehe...)

One of my bad experience in Nagoya Hill Mall entrance, i try to take a photo of its taxi fare listed outside the taxi counter, i got shouted at by the taxi touts. I dont get such issue in BCS mall, Harbour Bay ferry terminal and DC mall. Another one was when my friends and i were going somewhere from Harbour Bay, my friends drops me off on the way to his destination got charge 70k rupiah instead of the initial 30k rupiah. This one ticks me off and i launch an official complain to Harbour Bay (even tho i am not expecting its going to help much) and well, it turns out the situation got a little better, they improved on the situation (rare).

For every bad experience i had in Batam, i seek a solution/s to it. Bad experience here said is not just solely on taxi issue alone but can be on girls in Batam, massage parlor, booking joints, hotel accommodation etc. Over the years, experience pile up base on understanding (and some analysis), solution/s built and my Batam trip/s experience just gotten better and better over time,hehehe... :D

I said, no point crying over spilled milk. i learn from it instead,hehehe...at the same time also learned from other bro's "spilled milk" from the past and the current. Making sure whenever i encountered same/similar situation, my "cries" can be minimized when i travel to Batam.

I would NEVER drive a car in Batam. And the reason is: what happens in case of accident? Imagine first a simple accident with damage on cars (the car you drive, and then also other cars), then a more serious one where someone is injured, then the worst, where someone is severely injured or dies.

Do cars in Batam have insurance? Mostly not. Does YOUR car have insurance? Do YOU have an insurance that covers the damage you make, if you drive in Batam?

What is the SOP if you are hit or hit some other car? And if people is injured? Police comes? Then? You are detained until the responsibilities are clarified? And if you are recognized guilty or partially guilty?

I don't really want to find myself in such a situation. :(

Johor Baru? Malaysia is not Indonesia. If I am not wrong, in Malaysia most people have got an insurance. If you rent a car officially, the car has an insurance. As far as I know, in Batam most locals DO NOT have an insurance.

At least, if one drives in Batam, should have an insurance from home country covering ALSO damage to third party if driving. Imagine you kill someone in an accident, or you make someone severely injured, and police detaines you until you don't pay enough to the family to refund the damage. This may happen also if it is not your fault 100%.

Said all this, I know I talk like I can lecture everyone, but I admit I am not Mr. Perfect. Me too I drove motorbike at times, from Pacific to Formosa, with a drunk girl sit at the back (the owner of the bike). Just a short ride.

I am not saying Horizon has got no fault to it tho but things just happened at the wrong time wrong place in "just that moment". Price variances (if any) for KTV wont be too far apart year to year. At best is around 10%. Of course, if one choose to pay more, the highest pricing can be "infinity". Lowest is around 10% variance (if any) of the link stated above in my post.

Yes. They may have insurance. But best avoid accident. If car slightly dented i just close one eye. We are in foreign land. In Msia, I think they beat Indon drivers handsdown. Some of them drive so recklessly. Thats why its known as BolehLand. Latest thrend...they used human to chope parking lot but car no where to be found until 5 mins later.:mad:

Do cars in Batam have insurance? Mostly not. Does YOUR car have insurance? Do YOU have an insurance that covers the damage you make, if you drive in Batam?

What is the SOP if you are hit or hit some other car? And if people is injured? Police comes? Then? You are detained until the responsibilities are clarified? And if you are recognized guilty or partially guilty?

The May & June 19 problem was due to the voucher seller at the online market selling at exorbitant price, imagine these buyers bought their vouchers at $10 & later have to pay the $28 tax & goes on weekend which cost another $10 more. So all in they pay $48, just like any ordinary folks who walk in as a customer. How can their mindset be balance?

That's not counting in that they didn't knw abt btm money changer selling the open orange ticket at $37. ;)

Can try those hotel near batam star.

Or can try his luck at any 1 star/2 star hotel. Most of them has got hourly pricing. :)

Haha....very common to see ahpek or tamu boking more than one cewek. Good exchange rates and cost of living fucking cheap. Some ahpek stayed till one week tere. Frankly tere were occasion i bok two ceweks too. 3some. :D Just for the fun of it.

Hmm...seems like good news for those who would choose to drop themselves at Batam Center ferry terminal. There is now another ferry company, Majestic Ferry who also comes out with the similar "exclude S$21+S$7 tax" ferry coupons promo at the online market place in Singapore.

They took the above posted free from NATAS fair during August 2019 and start selling in the online market for a few dollars. Since the price is close to be on par with the Horizonfast ferry ticket (that goes Harbour Bay), i thought it would be a good thing to share the news here,hehehe...as most competition usually benefits the end-user/s.

Dont bother trying to PM me or ask me here if i sell/buy those coupons, becos :

1. Its strictly NOT allowed in this forum (not even direct link/s to the site that sells it, so you will have to use your Singapore IP address to google), unless i pay the forum.

As for batam->sg leg...
batam hBay counter only interested on the expiry date printed on your S$28-tix (which you paid $28 with you "free voucher")
And the expiry date (of the S$28 tix)is totally depands on "when" you pay your $28.

19/8 go to Horizon sg counter
with a free voucher with
exp=31Aug2019 and Pay $28.
You get the S$28 tix with exp=31Aug2019 (<1momth)
"REGUARDLESS" the expiry date is Aug/sep/Oct

Hmm...that makes Sindo ferry ticket price be at S$32. Majestic Ferry at about S$34 (online) and Horizon at about S$37 (orange ticket). All of mentioned tickets has no weekend limitation.

Vouchers/coupons to convert to open ticket will cost between S$28 to S$32 i general for Majestic and Horizon, but not on weekend or public holiday trips.

I just checked, Fame, Octopuss and Delta do not have bed table. Not even New Spa at Batam City Hotel. Utama area wise, i am not sure but i know King Massage in Formosa has it.

Base on your FR, did you realize that the chances to get a massage bed table in a hotel that has in-house massage is quite high? ;)

Actually going to Batam is like going to Sentosa,hehehe...i look at the whole walkthrough of going to Sentosa, i dont see much difference,hehehe...of course, other than the girl-part and having to cope with the whole timezone. For bros who could hold a conversation in Malay, its truly a walk in the park.

And as for those who couldnt speak Malay when traveling in Batam, its also not that bad as most Indonesian could speak some broken Englsih, otherwise there is google translate. Up till today, i still have to rely on google translate to communicate with practically 80% of Indonesian if i needed something, eg ordering food, talking to receptionist (in MPs and Spas) whose English i couldnt understand etc.

Friday 13/9 - took afternoon ferry and arrived buy sim card...go collect Sunday ferry return ticket... check in hotel Da Vienna...:)

Read bro Naka_Timo forum on Da Vienna hotel... packed during breakfast Sunday morning...

You are a breakfast person, have you tried the hotel breakfast? I rated it number 1 in Batam among all other Batam hotels (i counted in the per night stay's pricing, comfortability and convenience factors into my ratings) base mainly on their varieties, number 2 place goes to Formosa Hotel,hehehe...i like the bed-side lamp in Da Vienna hotel room too.

Very electrifying....hehehe...

What i do not like :

1. In House massage per hour too high

2. Massage special service, auntie type but want to charge high price (eg 800k rupiah hj)

3. No KTV with nice hostess (there is a small lounge there, 2nd floor i think)

4. When Permata closed down, no more booking joint nearby (within 5 in walk radius)

5. Room service/Technical support takes too long to come to my bed room (smoking room no ashtray, ask for 1, took more than 1 hour to send it to me)

6. It feels like a Sillypore hotel with too many Singaporean (90% are from Singapore)

Other than that, the bed is good, bed lamp is nice (innovative), room super solid for the price (talking about Junior suite and executive suite), 1 min walk to alfa mart, 2 mins walk to pharmacy (across the road), about 5 to 7 mins walk to Windsor, going to Tua Peh Kong to get lucky number around 10 mins, around 15 odd mins walk to BCS mall,Grand Batam Mall, New Spa, A2 food court, Aiko etc etc.

Pros and cons. Nothing is all good and no bad anywhere,hehehe...the most suitable for oneself is often the best,hehehe...next trip, you may wish to try the like of Zest Hotel (or other 2 star hotel, Da Vienna is 3 starred). So as to make comparison.

Cewek arrived and fire one round and nap before dinner at Windsor foodcourt nearby...

Windsor Hotel is another scene not to be miss in Batam. Very Singapore during the 80s and early 90s. That kind of scene is no longer seen in Singapore today which is one reason why many love that food court. And i notice many other new food courts in Batam also follow these trend.

Afternoon go to Fame spa...took 360k package...gal hard sell but not in mood to do any special...

Ya, but many new hotels in Batam dont allow smoking and that put me off (eg Vanilla Hotel, few mins walk from Hotel 89). Luckily Da Vienna hotel got smoking room.

Its quite ironical for this hotel that lobby of the entire floor of non-smoking room allows smoking tho. :D

Tis where they will find every reason to short change or over charge u. More than one destination they sure charge u extra. Just like my experience i mentioned regarding taking diff route cos of the "flood". I called it ponding.:p Kana charged extra 20K.

Today i become a die hard fan of hotel taxi,hehehe...usually this is when i am regular to some hotels which i regularly stayed in, talked to their GMs about taxi and bargained with him directly instead. The price wont come down too much tho as he also need to balance between his hotel taxi profit over trying to make his taxi driver happy. Well, at least they tried.

Most of us guys, when it comes to "girl stuffs" in Batam, we tends to be more forgiving. Too bad, most if not all taxi drivers were male,hehehe... imagine this, change the taxi driver's gender to female, "they" call out to you, most of us would probably respond nicely,hehehe...even if the intention was to over-charge you and me. :p

Ya, but many new hotels in Batam dont allow smoking and that put me off (eg Vanilla Hotel, few mins walk from Hotel 89). Luckily Da Vienna hotel got smoking room.

Its quite ironical for this hotel that lobby of the entire floor of non-smoking room allows smoking tho. :D

Exchange rate at Harbour Bay ferry is something like 10080/SGD to 10100/SGD (20th September). At Grand Batam Mall it is 10200/SGD (21st September) while FX online says it is 10203/sgd. :D

Yea...best alot of them skip going and we still continue to go batam...less crowd and better for us...to me was pleasant after 2 trips...

Dream on, hehehe... there is no lack of "lesser intelligent" beings on the internet (in those trip-advisers etc). Which is why you would probably see long queues during weekends and why malls like BCS, Nagoya Hill,Mega Mall and Grand Batam sells most of their things more expensively compare to other part of Batam's mall. :D

Not a very big difference in pricing tho but if one buys a lot, it could add up to quite a substantial amount.

Today i pay between S$28 (or S$31) to S$15 for 2 way Batam trip, the money i saved, i use it to pay for Business class (in the past was extra S$6 online, today is S$12). I get to cut the queue,hehehe...

I avoided queue/crowd too,hehehe...i rarely goes to places like Nagoya Hill Mall, BCS...and i am planning to cut back on Grand Batam soon. Remember i ask this before, if i am a terrorist, where in Batam will i attack 1st? Hehehe...not forgetting the time/date of attack to get the best effect from a terrorist's perspective? Hence most of my friends rarely see me in those busy ferry ports, malls, attractions, MPs, Spa or overnight booking joints etc.

A3, Lavender and PP Tropical Asia were all in Utama area (walk Utama Hotel one round, like i always said it). So its not really hard to locate them as they were in the book of dirty massage category. To me, a dirty MP is like, you walk in, pay entrance for an hour massage and almost surely will have massage and will be asked the GQ aka Golden Question. Clear cut and easy.

Now i am left with Sakura, Nagoya Spa, Majesty and Triniti Spa to talk about,hehehe...

Sakura : Its opposite the back door entrance of Nagoya Hill Mall and also a 2 star hotel. Technically a clean place but well, if you have a hotel that has in house massage service and the girls can be called to your room, whether a customer could get something is entirely up to himself. I got it from this place once becos my friend was staying in the hotel (called Sakura Hotel). But do note that their package can be quite expensive and one taking up the package was not guaranteed "special".

Side note : There is also another Sakura at the Utama area. Yes, they definitely have special service there. I am curious if the author of that site got mix up between the 2?

Nagoya Spa : Hehehe...this shop is so near Formosa, dont need to think also know i have tried this place before. Even bring friends and relatives looking/not-looking for special there too. This place, like Sakura is technically "clean" too. My parents can proof it,hehehe...so in order to get something "special", one will have to "signal" or shows signs you want something. This place is a bit more expensive than Sakura, so tread carefully.

I have been to this place more than thrice,hehehe...and if i didnt remember wrong, i recommended this place to bro Blackpage and other bros in this forum before too. :D

Majesty : I didnt try before but according to friends who visit the place. This place is mainly for families or couple. My friend says he went alone on a weekday and was quoted HJ at 600k rupiah. Due to the stats of the massage girl (in 30s of age) that massage him, he didnt take it up. He didnt bargain tho. According to him hearing from the therapist, not all girl there do "special" there and they arent allowed to.

Triniti Spa : This one is at Trinity Hotel. I have not been there before as its too far out of the way, at least 15 to 20 mins walk from Nagoya Hill Mall if one hasnt been there before. None of my friends tried it. But i hear from bro Newyorker (a regular old timer in this thread and often visit Batam) this place should have had some special service. I shant comment much on this place until one day i find time to test it out. (note : Trinity is also at Area B)

*my taxi driver ever brought me there 3 odd years ago (twice), but it was closed down. I think it must have reopened but under a different management recently.

This is also a hotel with in-house massage, hence i am expecting there will be some sort of special service if the massage girls can be called in to room. ;)

Side note : Do note that when it comes to clean massage/spa places, do not expect GQ aka Golden Question from the massage girls. And if i am the one popping the GQ, i would be expected to be paying a higher price. Thereafter, how low the pricing can be bargained depends solely to respective bro's bargaining skill/s.

I walked approx 300 metres to the Telkomsel building to wait for my bluebird driver (yes, even the licensed cabbies get shunned away from BCFT pick up point), turning down a number of persistent ojeks and supirs while on the way there. Do heed bro nono's advice - do not look at your phone while waiting or looking for your driver.

There are few cases of terminal's taxi driver follow behind those just arrived tourists, walk to outside and stop the tourists from taking the online taxi, and even happened before tourists got pull out from online taxi and threatened.

Also happened before tourist out from BCS walk to A2 foodcourt waiting outside Aiko massage. Got followed by BCS taxi driver. Online taxi arrived, just before the tourist going into the vehicle, tourist got pull out by the BCS driver and the online taxi was brought to police station and got fine Rp150k.

After ordered online taxi and stop looking on hp, just remembered the vehicle no. might help abit to prevent spotted, but as mentioned before, those few models of car picking up tourist outside shopping malls or ferry terminals, will still have chance to be stopped and check by those taxi driver. Once spotted, they will ask the online taxi driver to show their hp.

The May & June 19 problem was due to the voucher seller at the online market selling at exorbitant price, imagine these buyers bought their vouchers at $10 & later have to pay the $28 tax & goes on weekend which cost another $10 more. So all in they pay $48, just like any ordinary folks who walk in as a customer. How can their mindset be balance?

That's not counting in that they didn't knw abt btm money changer selling the open orange ticket at $37. ;)

I cant relive the time whereby Singapore movie theater can smoke inside it while i am in Batam (in the 80s,i am not a smoker yet tho), but well...i can at least relive it in terms of pricing. Its around S$3 to S$4 per pax. And Harbourbay Mall outside theater can smoke, practically no one hack care you,hehehe...

If you have some free time, do drop in Batam. Ferry tickets having some sort of promotion, and should be about S$35 per pax on average, hotels cost about S$30 for an average 2 star hotel. Of course not asking you to come here to just watch Rambo, but more of to come here to forget Singapore for a bit, eat and drink at some Batam food courts that has the ambiance FEELS like in Singapore's old days and give your "little bro" a chance to converse with the Indonesian's "little sisters",hehehe... :D

He is over 70, i didnt ask for his exact age tho and his friends with him is around his age too. At his age, he choose to enjoy life in Batam. Not wrong. Which is why i said, i envy the old man you mentioned in your previous post...left arm one girl, right arm another. If that is not heaven on earth, hehehe...then what else is? :D

Compare this man i met and the man you talk about, they are enjoying life. In many ways, they are like Sylvester Stallone, and not forgetting Nicholas Tse's father Patrick Tse 谢贤 (83).

Sharing some ground intel from my recent trip.

@ taxi stand next to Harbour Bay, one still have to nego direct with the driver but they’re more willing to accept 30k (to Astro for my BKT fix).

But in the evening (dinner @ Wey Wey), the cab ride is fixed at 50k.

Indah 2 seemed closed, & Blue Moon is massage only.

I almost lost hope after checked out all those listed in bro nono’s Zon A (at my age, getting more picky ... limited bullet = only go for quality shooting). After checked in hotel, ventured out again to zon B. Thks to my lucky star, sitting shyly at one corner of Sri Kandy, a SYT that meets my specs. End up one of the best session of the year.

Here is my recent solo trip , 21 till 23 sep.first time sharing here.
first time took horizon ferry bought from Q10 $33 to harbourbay, used to take batam fast and sindo to batam centre.
walked from jetty to kfc for lunch after that walk to nagoya to change $ rate is 102250 for $400 . had my first massage at Go massage $ 28 ,
took ojek to swiss inn for 9k
Stayed for 3 days , around $41 without breadfast book at booking .com . Do take note that the price you see initially and the price paid is different. ordered gofood conveniently and afordable from the room. la pizza restaurant pizza is nice but soup is horible.
Second massage is at city spa $48 . inhouse guest 20 or 30% sorry cant remember. request for young girls , bandung girls, piano masage as expected, tapao overnight quoted 2 mil , haha. facility suck , hot pool dirty dare not jump in, steam room not hot , sauna didnt tried , should be ok.
3rd massage at reborn massage, opposite bsc 180k
for 2 hrs, they have proper massage bed , wipe your body with hot towels.
The rest of the time just play with wechat, mechat, u woundt know are those pretty pic real , Walk around grand batam, bsc, peniun market , tried bai long noddle$2.3, bought raw petai , A2 curry and yam puff .
last day morning with harbourbay residences agent tour their rooms.. took 2pm ferry home.
next trip will stay at utama area to explore.

A friend stayed at Lumba Lumba which bro Nono introduced recently. Hotel, Ferry package plus 1 hour Massage for twin sharing @$55 per pax. Single @$67. He shared that there is a promotion at Chinatown Point every few months and of course there are several pubs around it since it is near Harmoni.

My experience in Batam started sometime in 2000 but purely for work and went there once in a blue moon which I didn't wander around much and I stopped for many years. The relationship with Batam only started end last year when a friend brought me to Nagoya shopping mall, A2 food court, the pubs around Harmoni.

This hotel is not bad (6/10), i stayed there in my last trip due to the main hotel not enuff rooms to cater for the weekend. They even provide transport to send me there & drop me back hbb nxt day. :p

The not good of this hotel is that this hotel has a small window which allows the lights from their corridor to shines into the room therefore not able to blackout the room to complete pitch dark. Another not good is that this hotel cannot smoke inside its premises & has no chair. i feedbacked this to their recept & hope the next time i'm there again, there is at least ONE folding chair in it, if space is their concern. There's no cafe ,mp or spa inside this hotel but can order massage from main hotel to come over. Order massage from main hotel can be quite ex. There's no breakfast provided.

The good is it's near Memory KTV. Next month Dynasty99 will be opening & the room rate is around $25 for a night stay. Nono says mention b4,recept also can help to order Go Car & grab to anywhere. Not a bad deal, especially for those who likes clubbing in btm. Surrounding quite a handful of MPs for daytime entertainment. ;)

Next trip will try that hotel & loiter in that area for more happenings. :D

All the above 3 stores were very close on par with the Meximo Pub Wan Tan noodles. The difference at most time were due to the difference in person who cooks it. Example, if you are eating at Meximo Pub, and if the boss's wife cooks it, its not so nice.

I tried looking for the maximo pub wanton mee in gojek app and i found it...Had ordered for my breakfast today..yesterday i head to the shop and today i order online and its as nice as eating at the shop but just that order from gojek the noodles abit dry cos maybe of the delivery...Just look for mie kampung noodles and it will show in the app for you to order...For those who cant find that place can try using gojek app to order...Its highly recommend...

Its handmade noodles (i think), not those instant-noodle kind of noodles hence it doesnt get too soiled-up after a while. Which is why it still taste almost as good when delivered to your doorstep.

Here in Da Vienna Batam gave me a good impression of non-smoking...really breathe fresh air and I will be back...:)

Talk about fresh air, next time if got chance can try KTM resort, whereby there is a very tall Guanyin statue. Then you will know what Batam's fresh air is like,hehehe....in the past, i will have to grab a girl from Nagoya area and go super-marketing 1st before heading there (about 30 mins taxi to get there from Nagoya).

@ taxi stand next to Harbour Bay, one still have to nego direct with the driver but they’re more willing to accept 30k (to Astro for my BKT fix).

But in the evening (dinner @ Wey Wey), the cab ride is fixed at 50k.

what i do is i walk out of the terminal area for my grab. a bit far but......

I went recently and stayed in a condo apartment in the harbourbay area instead. Near M one there, told the Grab driver that it's safe and he drove in tho.....

new - plenty of grab service, fame spa, j8 food court

fame spa not bad, sauna overlooking outdoor pool, place was clean, massuess quite chio, forgot to ask what her tag number, she requested full service 800k extra, didnt opt for it. total paid 3xx k and another 100k tip. hj is inclided in package.

visited happy8 joint, took girl overnight 1.2j overall not that good.

j8 foodcourt was nice, quite new, food not bad.

overall enjoyable trip.

Agreed that breakfast was good spread...and I ate plenty of eggs and local desserts...after that can skip lunch and go J8 food court eat satay and fried chicken wings...haha...of course goes down well with Tiger beer...

Out of 10 people i see there on my September Batam trip, about 5.5 were elderly aunties,hehehe...and with their trolley-ed luggage bag fully packed to its max. :D

When buying online, please be aware of scams similar to the likes of the 2 kind of coupon/ticket below :

Notice the ink in blue, those red ink could have been "rub off". So one may have a chance to buy the "already expired" coupons.

2 days ago, got seller/s even start giving away free coupons becos they couldnt sell it off on time and the expiry date is on 30th Sept 2019(which expires tomorrow). There's no takers as yet,hehehe...and i am not interested. If one is interested, can always go get those from that seller and then walk to Horizon Ferry counter at Harbour front, pay S$28 to them to get a Horizon open ticket that expires on 31st Oct 2019. Meaning collect the free Horizon coupon that expires on 30th Sept 2019, go Horizon Counter in Harbour Front, pay S$28 to get an open ticket that expires on 31st Oct 2019. But next month Oct, die die need to go Batam or the open ticket/s will be forfeited.

(there was also one that give away free coupons that expires Oct 2019 too)

Coupons should not cost MORE than S$3 each (max is S$4, for noobs) or it will be pretty much not-worth-the-price/effort from my perspective. I counted in the time cost and transport cost to go collect them too. I bought mine at S$2 to S$2.50, but most of which is given to me by my uncle who now resides in Tanjong Pinang most of the time.

Walk-in to Horizonfast Counter, open ticket still retailing at S$48 nett. Business class still at S$12 nett,hehehe...

I am still keeping tabs on the apartment pricing as i type. Had a feeling if this bill is passed down in their parliament, Indonesia is likely to have some small economic recession impact. Grab Indonesia has a rental option now, from 250k for 4hrs to 500k for 12hrs. Quite reasonable and no need to worry about getting fleeced by the roadside drivers...

The new Astro food court is more cosy as compared to the old one whereby a lot of vehicle is parking around the area, creating lots of carbon monoxide while i am eating outside the shop itself.

Nowaday, i only pick the taxi that has the EZY taxi logo and its already a habit to ask "how much to go to..." before stepping inside the taxi. That's if i need to take a taxi.

But in the evening (dinner @ Wey Wey), the cab ride is fixed at 50k.

Almost anywhere Nagoya area to Harbour Bay is minimum 50k rupiah, except Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall taxi stand which is more than 50k rupiah 99% of the time. Wey Wey is inside Harbour Bay,hehehe...

Indah 2 seemed closed, & Blue Moon is massage only.

Mind can ask, what time did you pass by "Indah 2" (i know its closed but there's another one in that area that replaced it). And what time did you reach Blue Moon? :p

I almost lost hope after checked out all those listed in bro nono’s Zon A (at my age, getting more picky ... limited bullet = only go for quality shooting). After checked in hotel, ventured out again to zon B. Thks to my lucky star, sitting shyly at one corner of Sri Kandy, a SYT that meets my specs. End up one of the best session of the year.

Thought I could give an update to the pricing under the new mgt, GRO told me they are quite strict on the use of discount voucher so its 420k for cheapest executive package for first timers (no voucher). They will upsell a 470k package but can just ask for the 420k instead. I think there's an option for 2 shots at about 500k though

Hotel guests get about 15% off, and vouchers can only be used from 2nd visit onwards.

Nothing much changed for the facilities, but sadly the condition of the hot pool not as good as a year back

Formosa Residence is just behind Formosa Hotel (few foot steps away each other,hehehe...). And i think when i 1st started Batam, i learned from seniors that this Formosa Hotel is in the middle of everywhere Nagoya.

How true is it i am not sure. But today, i realized it can be quite true today. An indeed iconic location and that should be in the next 25 years as well. I am not foreseeing too many high storey buildings that would cover/block this Formosa Residence as yet in the years to come,hehehe...just my guess. :p

briefly it will be biggest traveling and food problems...both muslim and chinese hawkers will be closed and open at least till 2 weeks later...:)

traveling will be chaotic from harbourfront to any parts of batam...Grab drivers may rest or work depends on their celebration schedule...taxi drivers may jack up prices...:)

supermarkets may be closed...restaurants may still open after 2 to 3 days rests...but overall a very chaotic place everywhere...restaurants at hotels will still be available....:)

This coming 2020, i will be in Batam a week or 2 before the actual CNY 2020 itself becos parents/relatives show their wishes to shop in Batam after our last trip during Sept 2019,hehehe...

There are a handful of tour agents in the market (SG) now advertising for Batam CNY 2020 trips, hence i assume its going to be crowded. But as for competition on "girls" in Batam, i highly doubt it would cause much changes, as most who are there during the 1st 1 or 2 weeks before CNY 2020 would be uncles and aunties.

Do however note that most time, overnight booking increases their price about a week or so before the actual CNY day. Kind of sure there would be a slight increase everywhere else and on the day of CNY itself, and a few days after it...it would most likely be at a full blown increase in price. Happens every CNY,hehehe... :D

If Ramadan's 1st 25 days collided with CNY, it would be a "blessing" for the girls, the polisi and every businesses there (as everyone will be hungry for money,tourist pays the bill of course),hehehe... one good thing about most Indonesian by default is that they often respect other's religion and culture; MOST of them. :p

i wont be so much worrying about Ramadan month but if the 1st and 2nd day day of CNY collide with Hari Raya Puasa Day itself, then i doubt i would go Batam.

(it doesnt take a genius to know price will be sky high in Batam during CNY,right? :D)

The biggest problem will be, the lack of girls. And NOT whether if the shops will open for business or not. I have been to Batam during CNY more times enough to know that MOST indonesian chinese are super-hardworkers and which business entities at which area will open and which one wont. Few days before Hari Raya Puasa itself, i am sure the girls (majority of them) would wish to return home to be with their families. Likewise in the Chinese culture during CNY too.

Conclusion, there is no conflict in term of cultures if the 2 holiday season (Hari Raya Puasa and CNY) meets but it will however impact tourism as many wont find enough staffs to work during those "conflicted season" hence a big handful of them will have to close for a week or so. Whenever there is an issue or a problem that i encountered in Batam, i try to work around it or seek a solution. Just like i am in the forum.

For Hari Raya Puasa to collide with the 1st few days of CNY, i think not easy. But if CNY ever collided within the Ramadan month, i will still visit Batam. Like i said earlier, everyone there will be hungry. And in Batam, when they are hungry, tourist/s will have better bargaining power. Whether one has the capability to use that point to their advantage is another matter altogether,hehehe... :D

1. I wont change SGD to IDR in Batam during CNY (its the only time of the year thats not worthy to do so). I will share more on this as CNY draws closer becos i found out something new recently and how to get the BEST rate in Singapore w/o leaving my home,hehehe...

2. The Food i go for would be from places like Meximo Pub noodles, Bei Long at A2 (both opens every CNY, i checked) etc or simply just take hotel food. Those places price usually quite stable.

3. Hotel room more expensive, but i got FREE room stays, hence it make up for the price increase during weekends and public holidays. Not forgetting, i have discount card for food/beverages too.

4. The last 2nd problem, ferry pricing...hehehe...well, i guess you probably already knew i am already preparing for that as of last month onward. And it will eventually comes FREE. But need to pay S$12 for business class hence i am sourcing for the S$6 business class ticket as of today.

5. The final and last problem. Girls! As mention in my past CNY summaries, i usually book them in advance and at a non-increased pricing or just a little bit top-up pricing.

All in all, my Batam CNY trip hasnt got much difference with my other Batam trips. Just that i would spend another juta or 2 for firecrackers and likely to travel far away from downtown Nagoya.

...i tried all 3 stores of noodles that you had recommended..I still find bai long and maximo pub wanton is the best...And i had spoke to the boss of maximo wanton mee he told me all his noodles is handmade by his brother...The boss highly recommended his mee pok...

...and learned that NOT all Mee Pangsit in Batam are good (be it handmade or not),hehehe...even tho this one cost only 18k rupiah. :D

Opposite that store, there is another one shop selling Mee Pangsit too, might just try that in my next trip. Name is dont know what XXX Long,hehehe...

Good or no good, i try to try everything even if the taste end up not as good. So that i can categorize which fits me best,hehehe...

I suppose is bini simpan ya. When one is rich he can do wonders. Having 4 wives. Everyday/nite rotate. I also envy him. But now tat hes old, hopefully his wives really take care of him. Out of 4, any 1 of them will do. Reaching this age/stage, he will know by now which of the 4 wives truely love him.

Hehehe...actually, the way i look at it, this senior guy is like those "fuck and dont care type", hence whether his girl stays with him or not, it really doesnt matter much.
