tbh. i live in batam.

i go there on random days. usually night time around 7 and above. sometimes during afternoon after or before lunch.

My sincere thanks for sharing,what you shared is very good info for me as in why you would say that "the quality of the girls is going down the drain",hehehe...KTV usually starts at around 7pm, girls in men's spa has 2 shifts. Booking joints require more dwelling in.

Any bro that into seafood can try out Balerang seafood.. a little bit far but they serve very nice seafood with reasonable price.. personal recomendation is the Asam prawn, choose the small or medium sized prawn and ask to goreng kering with Asam..

If it is too cheap, maybe it's counterfeited or not properly conserved, not fresh, etc.
Batam is fantastic for local seafood, but for imported goods, I am not sure it's easy to trust retailers.
If you are expert of abalone, you can discriminate quality. I am not.

The standard fare posted by Formosa for their drivers should be something about 350k (4 hours to go, eat, relax, come back)
I read on this forum that it is possible to rent car for one full day for 300k. I would suggest you start asking one day before more than one driver. It is ESSENTIAL that you hire a trusted one. I would not want to find myself at Barelang without driver.

Reading histories from the old batam info thread starting from 2007 has taught me at least one lesson,never attempt to break Indonesia law or worse, give their authorities an open opportunity to catch me breaking one,hehehe... some i knew who did, never dare step into Batam again. :D

Transporting myself around Batam is much cheaper as compared to Singapore. The least i wish to have is to get myself stressed up with driving around with unfamiliar roads, and especially so when i am only there for a holiday. :p

I'm not new to Batam but I still very much consider myself a newbie with only 3 trips done so far. As I always chiong Bangkok and Pattaya for the last few years.

My last few trips to batam have been just Ok, staying for about 3-4 days max. Took me sometime to find out abt mps arnd utama area. But I always stay and hangout arnd Kampong Bule. But I find those places boring and cewek quality poor. I have a high daily budget for my trips but I always end up not spending what i intend to spend and never getting the quality I want. I just End up doing my usual routine gng to different spas and massage places 2-3 times a day, drinking at NED and going to planet tiga for picking up a FL.

ANY bros here kind enough to please advise me and guide me in the right direction?

1) For someone with a 400-500sgd max daily budget(food,girls,massage,drinks excl hotel) and only travelling alone, where are the best places I can go to get the best bang for my buck? Like ceweks for the quality I should be getting? And not getting ripped off at the same time?

2) I have never been to a ktv yet in Batam cos I'm kinda scared and shy to go alone to a ktv in a foreign place I don't know much yet. Scared will get ripped off. And do ppl go to ktv alone? Have english songs? I can't speak much Malay lol

3) I'm also bored of the usual planet 1,2,3 discos. Are there any other places I should be hanging out at apart from planets and NED?

(This budget usually I use for Thailand to have a very good time but recently due to work commitments I can't fly out to bkk as I'm on call. Batam is the best choice as I can come back to sg last minute. Also not worth gng to Thailand for just 3 days too. Haha.)

Interesting experience I had with little mentioned outlet called Yummy Massage. Don't know the exact name of the street but its walking dist from Nagoya Hill Mall (just behind the hills). Your rates above for Formosa (less than S$50!) are special, achievable by negotiation or by using super saving brokers, and for the basic rooms. You even compare the rates for Silver members of Formosa membership card. That are not the prices for a visitor who comes once for a weekend, just to try.

Normal walk-in rates in Formosa are the ones I wrote (S$60-S$70), at least that, if one wants a better room than the basic one.
For example, I just checked on Expedia (the Formosa booking web site is down) and best rates I found for a couple of random dates in February are S$57, S$62, and up.
I also note that Expedia claims that S$57 is a "super saving promo", with -29% discount on the regular rate (claimed to be S$80 for a standard room).

Come to think of it,when i 1st hit batam nearly 4 years ago,my room rate was about S$62 for their most basic room. Today, the price seems to come down,hehehe...perhaps due to stiff competition. :p

Kaha used to be 450k rupiah but has increase to 475k rupiah over time. Now,i believe it must have gone up a little bit. :)

Note that online room booking were very much base on season too. Meaning to say,different season,different pricing.

Its from anshun travel (you may google it). i was also interested and went to find out more about an hour ago with that particular tour agent, and only to learn that there was a 10 pax minimum-to-go criteria. So that makes it not worth it anymore.

With 10 person,i could just rent a mini bus with 12-16 seaters at around 1 juta for a full day travel with driver,divide the heads to cost 100k per pax in that case. Sea food wise,100k per pax with 10 pax already can eat till drop,hehehe...

Every time I go to Batam, the first thing I do is to buy 2 new SIM cards (the ones I have have expired already), one for my old GSM phone, which I use only for SMS and calls, another with 15 GB data plan for my mobile wifi router (long discussion about this already), which becomes my personal wifi hotspot always with me anywhere I go.
Go to any phone retailer in Lucky Plaza or Nagoya Hill, for example.

Bring passport. .

I asked roadside shop they say cannot need Indo identification cards NIK, Kartu kluarga mother name etc. So troublesome.

I'm kind of piss off with the NEW wifi network in formosa hotel. Its getting worse,and i cannot afford to keep calling them up EVERYDAY just to ask them come to my room to settle the wifi issue and their wired internet connection. Overall, my first batam trip consider smooth.

50k is an amount that is leaning towards the slightly more generous zone; I give that amount if the massage was really good. For mediocre ones, I tip maybe about 20k.

The wifi was good and fast, but the login system is so troublesome.
You are redirected to a landing page, the id/pw must be changed every day, one single id/pw valid per each device, and half of the id/pw they gave me didn't work. :mad:
I requested tjhem to give me a block of new credentials, which I kept in room. Every day, I was consuming 3-4 new ones (1 for the laptop, 1 for the phone, a couple not valid), until I got tired. See below.

Exactly. I stopped using Formosa wifi and I then used only my mobile wifi router 24/24, in my room or outside. The speed was high (4G) and the data plan was huge enough to not make me worry to finish the quota (15GB).

The only thing I do not understand is why you insist on connecting your Andromax to your USB port! :confused:
Connect BOTH your phone AND your laptop to the wifi interface of your Andromax! You can connect up to 10 (or maybe more) devices.

This trip has a number of fails.

1. Hotel wifi failed badly throughout the trip. Solve my own problem by throwing money (easy way out) to buy an andromax device costing 350k rupiah.

2. Vienna carrot cake was written on menu as 25k,but was billed 30k rupiah.

(for the above 2,i already feedback to their management,and i hope to see improvement in my next trip)

3. Exchange rate was 10100 rupiah/SGD yesterday (16/01/2018) late noon but i was greedy and end up with 10090 today (17/01/2018) this early noon. Day 1 was 10070 rupiah/SGD.

4. I ate an expensive meal in New Siang Malam :

I am still looking for a hotel that has these below criteria :

1. Hotel food that cost as low as regular zhi char as in like Singapore.

2. In-hotel massage that cost below 100k per hour (in-room massage)

3. ...and offers special service at 150k rupiah for HJ and 300k for FJ (after bargaining)

4. Provide me with free pick up and drop off service.

5. Has at least 6 nearby massage shops within a 300 meter radius (less than 5 mins walk)

6. Convenience store which is less than a stone throw away

7. Provide FREE use of sauna room

8. Has a low price KTV with GROs within 1.5 min walk

9. Gives me a free night stay with every 8 to 8.5 night stay

10. Where beautiful local girls can be picked up just directly at the ground floor of the hotel

11. Has occasional PRC and/or Vietnam OVERNIGHT girls going between 1 juta to 1.6 juta within 1.5 min walk away.

12. Last but not least,have hotel staffs that take their guest seriously. At least for me,they do...hehehe...i feel like a prince there.

I have yet to find any hotels in Batam that provide AT LEAST half of the above 12 points i stated...hehehe...if anyone found any,i would really like to try them out. Not forgetting they have a kind of special room which i need that almost no hotels in Batam has.

Yea,they changed to Fibre broadband on Oct/Nov time. I even talk to their ISP few days ago,...seriously their IT knowledge really sucks big time. To top it up,they tell me it would be too complicated to help me...so they send their technician down. Even to the point when the tech guy reached my room, the problem wasnt resolved on the spot. Took him another few hours. What really put me off completely is,6 hours after he left,the same problem persist....hehehe...

I think Formosa is trying to play the same game as Genting hotels,whereby each room has only password. The bad part is,they couldnt get one password stable enough to work properly and for more than 1 device,hehehe...just like how Andromax works.

I prefer to connect via USB (unless i am out of room). One of the reason is, the battery usage. If the battery runs low, the network auto disconnected. Its also more stable with USB connection too.

My 1st Andromax was bought few months ago at Nagoya Hill Mall costing 350k rupiah,and i top up another 60k rupiah for some freebie data. If i dont remember,its extra 18GB data or something like that.

My 2nd one was bought in Lucky Plaza,also the same price. Again,i top up another 60k rupiah for the same freebies.

Last month while i was at DC Mall,2 shops there try to sell me the same Andromax at 500k rupiah. (at least i know from here who is trying to chop me here)

I did a calculation,every month 100k would give me 5GB plus some other bonus data,which i think its sufficient for a few days usage for a few devices at a time. There is also a 60k rupiah plan too,but only has 2GB data and maybe extra 1GB free data.

12GB plus bonus of dont know how many GB for 150k rupiah tho.

Its is also why i recommend it for bro BFOMF5 earlier if he decide to set up a surveillance cam in N's shop,hehehe...setting up a surveillance cam isnt as easy as discussed previously if one only calculate just the cost of the camera alone,hehehe... Its like buying a mobile phone without sim card,warranty,charger and knowledge of how to use it or rectify its problems (there's also bound to be problem connecting (or get disconnected from) to a static ip address,hehehe...).

Its a choice anyway...hehehe...well,if he wish to look at the other beautiful neighbours when he isnt in Batam. :D

This is the most critical aspect. I strongly do not recommend anyone to buy a locked device. Phones and mobile wifi routers should be always unlocked, to have the freedom to use a SIM of whatever operator in whatever country.

The argument "but I leave Singapore only to travel to Indonesia" is not valid, as we never know what we'll do in the future.
This 4G device is expected to have a lifetime of a few years. I would not spend money today, to get something I can use only in one country with one operator for the next years.

Singapore has plenty of shops for electronics and communications. It's worth to pay a visit and buy something good, at the best price but not the cheapest. Quality matters (and lasts over time).
That device will be your faithful travel companion for years and anywhere you go.

It should be not more stable, actually.
However, yes battery usage is an issue. I keep two chargers always connected in my room. When I enter, I connect the router to one and the phone to the other.
However, even with continuous usage (I surf, chat and play Pokemon Go, which generates LOTS of traffic) my wifi router takes more than 10 hours to discharge the battery.

720k Huawei can use any telkomsel with 14 gb included (simpati) Once finish buy a new telkomsel. 620k is without and Sim card so need to purchase, once register can use. Andromax is lock to only one telkomsel at only 350k and top up 100k everytime, quoted by the guy if buy andromax u save money now but huawei or any devices that is not lock u save. money on the long run.

350k is cheap but I believe it's network locked. Cannot be use with other operators.

Yes,its network-locked. I brought the 2nd AndroMax back to Singapore to test it out,it cant be used on a Starhub sim card (at least).

350k rupiah is just the initial device price with sim card and i think it comes with a free 5GB data (if i didnt remember wrong,or was it 2GB?). Each top up however last a month tho,starting from 60k to 150k rupiah if you wish to keep the EXTRA "data bonuses". Sim card itself last a year (according to the seller).

Andromax is actually good for bros who stay in Batam or is in Batam most time. I am now the proud owner of 2 of this andromax devices,hopefully i do not need to buy a 3rd one tho. :(

Btw, I have just setup an IPcam in Batam.
IT has advance in this field and so it not hard to do now.

I do understand where you are coming from,its not difficult on the set up part,hehehe.... i have set up surveillance cam for my current office and the one before too, so i do know how to do it right,hehehe... :D

Easy, when in Batam, open WeChat and just do a search for friends nearby. You will find plenty of them mostly FLs. Just tell them you want a booking (LT) and ask for their price. Have fun but need to check what you want is what you get when they appear.

My 1st Andromax device was in white,the recent one i bought was in Black (as shown on the photo below)...beside is a mini red packet i bought from DC Mall,hehehe...cost 7k rupiah a pack,i think there should be about 20 pieces of them in it. :D

This one, you may wish to check with the person/shop you bought it from. If i am not wrong, most TP Link portable USB wireless sim card device (aka Mifi device) should NOT have been locked,unless you bought it directly from starhub/M1/Singtel shop.

Go try it,or at least bring it to the HP shops in Batam to know more (simply ask them to recommend you to buy a sim card,they will try to help you).

Take note of your friend's room number,next time go stay in his room,hehehe...or you can talk to the receptionist to help you solve your problem. Last month was quite alright for me,but this month,things regarding their wifi worsened. I think i am not the only guest complaining,hehehe...may have to bear with their wifi for the next 1 or 2 months (which is not acceptable) while they try to fix it.

I think they spent quite a bomb switching from cable to fibre,hehehe...may need some time for things to become stable....too bad,they sack their best IT staff for being lazy (who happen to be the only person who could have a solution whenever i have a LAN connection issue), so now they are paying the price.

Haha, this was the third girl booked by me through WeChat at 800k, the other two were fantastics. You just have to do your work well and check to confirm what you get is what you see. There are pros and cons on getting girls from massage joints, KTVs or social media.

Getting girls from established joints like massage joints, KTVs, etc... ensure some accountability but again this is not 100% true although reassuring. You are able to see your goods before purchase. But there are usually many beefcakes and milfs in such places. You may also need to pay a commission on final cost although you may seek such joints on your own by avoiding the runners.

Getting FLs or girls from social media will need certain amount of research and work. There are extra excitements as you do not get to see the goods before purchase but there are many gems among these FLs such as student, out-of-job workers, part-timers or occasional thrill seekers. You always need to play safe, locked up all your assets preferably in the room safe and do not pay first before your deeds. Just like you. When in batam, i must go Windsor Foodcourt. And everynight i will go WFC. I love the ambience, the setup, the singing, and enjoy watching those beer ladies running after new customers, i love the sound of many footsteps running, its also quite cool at night. Now i add another itinery to my menu i.e. to eat in matahari 3rd fl if im not lazy.

Other then the above, i will buy fruits and makan in my hotel and watch tv and at the same time chat with those freelancers in wechat. So far i was lucky to get gems from wechats both in batam and balai. I was just lucky. Its not going to happen always. The problem is that gems dont freelance for long, they disappear v quickly.

I always travel to Batam Centre using the discounted senior ticket of $32 from Majestic Fast Ferry. I am unsure whether ticket price will be the same during CNY.

I am not sure either,becos i dont travel via Batam center. The best solution if you wish to travel via any ferry company during CNY 1st few days,do drop them a call or email them 1st.

Ferry tickets sold in Batam travel agent (or money changer etc),they were just plain ferry ticket and do not guarantee you a seat in the ferry at your desire time/date. You still need to email them or call them for a seat reservation.

In my 1st CNY Batam trip,i paid S$60, for a normal Horizon ticket,2nd CNY trip i paid S$48.00,the 3rd one i paid S$60.00....this year 2018,i paid S$48.00...

My 1st CNY trip,still new and i go during noon time.

2nd one i took last ferry,the counter girl tells me after 5pm no extra charge.

3rd time,i play the same game as in like my 2nd trip but failed,and there was no offer for last ferry and have to pay S$60.00.

This year,i already bought my ticket when upon my return in my Jan trip at S$48.00...tho i was rather tempted to buy from Anshun at S$45.00 (if buy more,there would be further discount).

S$3 discount isnt very much (S$3 almost = taxi fare for me in batam),hehehe...since my ticket were often paid for by my customers who bought things i brought back from Batam,so i dont mind paying more for convenient,efficiency and safety. :D

I look forward to trying Batamfast ferry tho (becos can smoke,hehehe...horizon cant). But only interested in alighting at Harbour Bay. Cost S$34.50,hehehe...just for the fun! ;)

Not so sure about Windsor Food Court,but most Chinese food store will be closed on 1st 2 to 3 days of CNY (except food stores who are also owners of the shop itself,eg Meximo pub wantan noodles),MOST money changer owned by Chinese are closed too. Surprisingly,most Chinese food stores at A2 food court is opened from 3rd day of CNY (Bei Long wan tan mee was opened last year on 3rd day of CNY).

Most food store at Nagoya Hill Mall (BCS mall too) will however be opened tho. Usually,on 7th day onward nearly all Chinese shops will be reopened. (at least over the last 3 CNYs its like that)

*girls in booking joint has about a 20% to 100% price increase (still cheaper,compared to Singapore).

**lowest price for girls at around 22-26 years old can be booked at 800k rupiah,usual price before CNY is 700k rupiah. Highest can be up to 2.8 juta. (base on what i see on CNY 2017)
