When I was in Nagoya Hill Mall on the 1st day,they were setting up a Ramadan Bazaar event...

Apparently, business isn't fantastic...but the sale people were quite aggressive. Its also the 1st time I am being convince to buy something I don't need in Batam. I had a good bargain tho. Technically, item cost 50k,buy 3 at 150k and get 1 free...but I bargained until it becomes 3 for 100k.

Then again,its something I don't need so I just pass it to my girl. See? I couldn't even remember what is the item I pay for...hehehe...and at that moment of paying,i have only one thing in mind.

I wish to bring this sales person to Singapore to work for me,hehehe... thumbs up!

The next following day (on Day 2),i chose another nearby restaurant to have my lunch. What 1st attracted me to the restaurant was their sign board outside...

Batam is very unlike Sillypore,whereby the better the taste of food,the more people will be in it or be queuing. In fact,i find out that the more and better business most business entities in Batam has, service and standard of product rendered by it drops.

Much often,i am treated like a King, got all the attention I have ever got since I am the ONLY customer in it (or the only few customer). Better service,better price,better quality of product too. Oh,and in this case of this restaurant,...better quality cheap and good food.

Not too bad for a 2 person food. Which is about 40% cheaper than the Malaya Restaurant on the previous day.

The food served was good enough for me as an everyday food (which I can almost daily,hehehe...). Or the least, there's no hidden cost like many places in Indonesia when they claimed to be Nett Priced on the menu but yet added +10%+11% onto the total bill.

Now I also don't know to wish them got better business or wish them no business,hehehe...wish them got business ,everything will soon turn out expensive and not-longer-as-good,wish them no business...later they close shop how? Lol....

Guess I can only wish them to have sustainable-enough business.

Clue : Please do not think this summary is just all about food. My theories (and attitude) were often mixed into the spa and massage places that I visited.

Batam is like a RPG Game,hehehe...

In this trip,there was a slight accident which I wish to take down notes here. My girl who booked her 2 way air ticket from a certain travel agent was not able to fly back to her own hometown after reaching the airport becos the travel agent has failed to pay the airline.

So I was pulled back to hotel when I have already physically reached Harbour Bay to prepare to return to Singapore (just step out of vehicle). I came back to hotel becos I ask my girl to come back to the same hotel from airport too. Upon reaching hotel,i book a deluxe room...well,a apparently a non-smoking one to house my girl for another night while I call the travel agent to give them a piece of my mind.

Settled with the compensation from the travel agent before I left again for Harbour Bay. Lucky for me,i am with Formosa,a lot of things I do not need to pay and also gets to claim "extras" from the travel agent. The bad part of this incident were the time wasted...and my girl were scared the hell out as she also seldom travel out of her hometown.

Thank heaven,all things went smoothly after travel agent arrange the next day flight and I arranged with Formosa for all the necessary transport to get her to the airport. Hehehe...I wasn't able to stay another night tho.Have to take the last ferry back. But I was kind of glad that I am able to resourcefully arrange so many things so smoothly that evening.

This incident was a good experience for me. And if the same or similar things were to happen to me again...I am sure I will be able to do better than what I did on this trip (and in a much more gracefully way too,hehehe...).

Thinking back while penning down this summary now still gives me a cold sweat.

Penis for my thought :

1. This year Ramadan was a simple 3D2N trip,but end up having to pay for 4D3N and yet be staying only 3D2N. Even tho the 3rd night was free...but still,i didn't get to enjoy that part.

2. Booking joints were all closed from the front door,but customers were mostly brought in from the back doors.

3. I think this Ramadan trip is pretty much similar with last few years. At least this year I get to try their Break Fast meals which I didn't get to taste it in my last few years of Ramadan trip. I learned that why were there mainly snack food rather than rice food during Break Fast time,hehehe...

4. This trip may sound not too good,but still, its an experience to me. An experience that don't happen to everyone. An experience that doesn't kill me,an experience that makes me stronger and better.....

I guess that's about all I need to record down in this 40th summary, shall be looking to write my 41st Batam trip summary (August trip) hereafter (more on Ex Vietnam refugee camp).

Two days ago went to Batam alone. Day Trip. Lone Ranger.

Dropped by Delta SPA. it was around 2.30PM. Took a 3 session package. The Massage Lady was young, early 20s, not bad looking.

Massage was good. Like to talk. I usually feel asleep during massage, this time, I was totally awake for the whole massage session.

The package came with HJ. During HJ, she allowed me Roaming. Boob was firm.

At the end of session, I gave tip of 150K Rupiah.

Golden Mine in Batam is Newton. Yesterday I found a SSSSSYT looking like a kid (hey! 20yo), with breast so perfect to look fake. I will post the photo. Super friendly, hot, thin, small, pretty,.... etc. etc.Spent 1 hour dancing then to my room. 400 only. Life can be good here.

I like her so much, that I called her for my last session before taking the ferry back to HF. Yes, I skipped my usual tour of joints shopping the full catalog for my last ST in Batam. I sent her a message in the morning, and she was in my room less than 20 minutes later, showered and scented as a flower. Never seen such a promptness in Batam.

Every time i see such motorbike cart selling snacks in Batam,i realize that they didnt have a motorbike cart selling ice cream like in Singapore. Maybe when one day if i were to retire in Batam,i might think of doing this,hehehe...anyway,its just a thought.

Years ago, I went to Pacific with my girl. There, we met 3 friends of her. I spent two hours dancing with my girl in my arms, while another kept trying from the back to reach my front thing. At the end, she passed me a small piece of paper with her number.
Since then, we all became good friends. They are among my best friends in Batam. Every time, I go out at least once with 2 or 3 of them. We go out for dinner, dance in disco, then they come to sleep with me (I love the big beds of Formosa).

I suppose you are referring to Grand Dragon KTV in Batam City Hotel. I’ve never been there but the concept is similar to M1 KTV. The KTV has girls that sit with you for a price and some are available for booking too, but I heard it’s one of the most expensive in Batam. Grand Dragon also has a disco too, just like M-One.

The spa is called New Spa and is not affiliated with Grand Dragon KTV. 1st level of the spa has all the facilities (gym, pool, sauna, steam room, O2 room) and 2nd level of the spa are all the massage rooms. The massage packages come with 1 HJ and I heard they have also recently launched a massage package for boobs-massage, which means the ladies will massage your body with their boobies.

Harbour Bay - within the vicinity of the ferry terminal = rates might be worst than Singapore (Chinatown, The Arcade). Slightly better rates can be found at the shop houses along few metres from Morning Bakery.

Batam Center - I generally avoid because i had never seen good rates.

hotel utama - not sure because i never went there before.

There are no specified money changers to go to,i will usually recommend my friends to ask at least 3 nearby money changer shops around the same walking area in Batam,and i would avoid money changers that are very close to the arrival hall of ferry terminals and airport (and those stationed outside shopping malls entrance too).

(if there are no more than 2 money changers nearby within a one/two min walk away,i dont go to it at all; competition benefits the customer)

Variance in their exchange rate are very marginal between money changers in Batam,unless we are talking about those near to arrival halls of airport or ferry terminals. Regular money changers in Singapore definitely wont give as good as in Batam's.

My above said 2 paragraphs were for non-CNY situation. For CNY (1st few days), i would do the direct opposite of what i said above. ;)

Nono gets excellent rates in one of the money exchange shops in front of Formosa (there are THREE, and I never understood which one is the One), but maybe it's partially due to the fact that he is well known by the employees there already. Read his posts carefully to get the hints.

I suggest you ask around in many places before exchanging, at least if you have some significant amount of cash to exchange. For 200-300 SGD, I'd say it's not worth spending half an hour walking around to get 10k IDR more.

My suggestion is to start preparing a text list of places, grouped by type (booking joint, massage place with extras, KTVs, any other) and by area (the exact address in Batam is not much relevant). The map is the next step, useful but not necessary to begin.

If you and Nono and any other frequent visitor start that, less frequent visitors as me can add their contributions. In a while, cooperative job will make Reference Guide.

Penis for my thought :

1. This year Ramadan was a simple 3D2N trip,but end up having to pay for 4D3N and yet be staying only 3D2N. Even tho the 3rd night was free...but still,i didn't get to enjoy that part.

2. Booking joints were all closed from the front door,but customers were mostly brought in from the back doors.

3. I think this Ramadan trip is pretty much similar with last few years. At least this year I get to try their Break Fast meals which I didn't get to taste it in my last few years of Ramadan trip. I learned that why were there mainly snack food rather than rice food during Break Fast time,hehehe...

4. This trip may sound not too good,but still, its an experience to me. An experience that don't happen to everyone. An experience that doesn't kill me,an experience that makes me stronger and better.....

For illustrations...
I paid Rm310 for S$100 at JB.
As all Bros should know...

I also save > Rm10 (320-310) on top of the extra ++.

I stood at the position of the one who ask the question to say what i said.

For one who are new,and enthusiastic about massage,varieties will much often be what they will be looking for. And Utama area is the place to go to. Many massage shops within an about 5 mins (or less) walk.

For one who are looking into a more general trip from massage to shopping and then to some good enough eating places,as well as some non-sexual entertainment,formosa would be better. I walked from Formosa to DC mall during my Dec trip,took me no more than 15mins to reach its back entrance.

Formosa is too crowded nowaday,hehehe...i hope lesser samster will go there to compete with me over the rooms.

In term of ambience,they were quite close,since both hotels were build around the same "generation" and their building structure were pretty close. Utama hotel were one of my backup hotel to stay in if there's ever a "all else fail" situation. My next choice would be Da Vienna,but they were nowaday often crowded by cocky Sillyporean. As for Biz Hotel which used to my 3rd backup,i gave up on them already.

I am also looking at Batam City Hotel tho,hehehe...i will leave that till next year tho.

If i am staying in Utama hotel,1st thing i would do is to walk its radius one round. And if time allows,i will walk into some massage shops that are more closer to my hotel and take their name cards or phone numbers (assuming i am running solo). ;)

It is the 2nd time i found a fully grown cockroach in a Formosa hotel room tho...and this time round,its NOT a dead one...hehehe...

Sorry to repeat, you are my friend, but the fact you are a friend should not impede me to repeat you, once again, that technically speaking a USB-connected portable modem today in 2017 is prehistory, period. No serious IT retailer should even propose it to customers.

Today, the device to use is a Mobile WIFI router (a.k.a. MIFI), something that you DO NOT connect to the USB port of the laptop. Such device has a SIM card with data plan (e.g., the one you mention above) and, on one side, connects to the 4G network of a local operator, while on the other provides a wifi interface, to which up to 10 devices can be connected: that is, your laptop, your phone(s), even the phones of your girls and friends.

It's smaller than a GSM phone. You can keep it in your pocket while you move around walking. The battery lasts for one full day. Anywhere you go in Batam, you are online with all your devices (should you go around with several phones and even a laptop). I am used to go to do my work on my laptop sitting at JCO. I have my MIFI in my pocket and I am online on the laptop and the smartphone. I also play Pokemon Go while walking around Nagoya and Jodoh, always online with my smartphone connected to my personal WiFi.

No need to install a driver, no need to mess up with configurations if the USB device cannot be installed correctly, etc. Only advantages, no drawbacks. In addition, the throughput and overall performance can be also higher (because of the speed limitation on the USB port). I remember I achieved several tens of Megabit/s in some cases (on 4G).
Yes, it is more pricey than a USB-connected modem (there's a reason for that: otherwise, nobody would buy those old modems). My ZTE 4G MIFI costs around 150 SGD in my country, but I am sure cheaper opportunities are available in Singapore.

If i dont remember wrong,there are quite a handful of shops in DC mall selling CCTV cameras. It would be better to get from Batam when N's shop is in Batam itself (warranty,maintenance and repair issue),the CCTV in my office cost my boss in thousands of SGD,hehehe...but i think Batam would be way cheaper.

While surveillance camera may be cheaper in Batam,but i dont know how much maintenance cost would be like (i am quite kiasu when it comes to this kind of thing,i would prefer to get those tech guys to come to my home to get things done and then if any problem,can always get them to help out on-site with some small money). Many major hotels in Batam has very low knowledge on this kind of surveillance securities (Formosa included),hehehe... but i like it that way.

I am planning to buy a new laptop around Feb,March or April (2018) time,maybe we can go shopping for your surveillance camera and bargain for a better price? By now you should know that in Batam,when we buy more things in a particular shop,we will be able to get a better price,just like in the past when i bring more guys to a particular joint to book a bigger number of girls,we all get a way better price (even with driver),hehehe...shopping on I.T stuffs is one of my small hobby too.

Connecting via USB is only bringing problems: above all, the need to install and configure properly the device driver on your system.

The way to use a mobile WiFi 4G modem like yours is:
1) insert a SIM card and connect the device to the local 4G LTE network (Telkomsel in the case of Andromax)
2) connect as many devices as you want (your laptop and several phones) to the WiFi interface of your modem: they will all access the Internet through the router.
No cables, no USB ports involved, no drivers to install.

When you wrote and re-wrote that you want to use a "USB connected portable modem", I understood that you want to use a device which, differently from a Mobile WIFI Router, can only be connected to the computer via a USB port. Those are old devices, still on the market, but not recommended at all. They look like a big USB memory stick and enable the laptop to connect to the mobile 2G/3G/4G network. I used one of those for years.

One last note: I don't know if your Smartfren Andromax m3y is open, or locked to work ONLY with a Telkomsel SIM card.
It is advisable to buy a open one, which can work with SIM cards of any operators (in case you travel to a different country).

There are peak and non-peak season, go batam on CNY 1st 2 days,chances of getting a ferry during morning till early noon at Horizon Ferry is miserably low.

In those event,receptionist will call the room to ask its guest in it if he is expecting a guest.

Put your telkomsel sim card in any phone now,go to your dial pad (as if you are going to make a call) and dial *888# ....and it will answer your question/s.

Dont worry,its free,hehehe... (i like free things from Telkomsel),i am using telkomsel sim card as we speak and i just tested it.

You will have to make do with those 1 star or 2 star's not-so-good hotels or simply take a 4 star hotel room with a not-so-good room. Or get a fairly good hotel with rooms people dont like to stay in. Most time,even those were taken up during peak season.

Good hotels where there are most likely no room :

1. Formosa

2. Utama

3. Biz

4. Hana

5 Hans Inn

6. Da Vienna

7. Lovinna Inn Nagoya

8. Dju Dju Hotel

9. Hotel 18

10. Lai Lai Hotel

...etc etc and some other 2 star and 3 star hotel around them.

Fairly good hotels that are more likely to have room available...hehehe...

Another one not stated on above pics will be Amir Hotel at Harbour Bay,hehehe...and the above mentioned hotel prices are doubled or tripled.

With peak season, going for the hotel's free breakfast in the morning will be like buying 4D in Sillypore during CNY 3rd day,hehehe...booking joint will mark up almost double price,massage girls will double their special service price (or wont do at all) becos they already serve more than one customer that day and most would also be tired dued to overwork...service level almost definitely wont be fantastic unless you knew the indo girls in person or have been a regular with them before.

One reason why i choose not to go Batam during ultra peak season and have all along been sourcing for non-crowded places during CNY time (another ultra peak season too). I booked my hotel rooms about 4 months in advance when i go Batam,hehehe...:p

I just Agoda and Booking.com yesterday,almost sure there wont be room left on New Year eve in Zest unless one booked their room at a much earlier time. Price also wont be at around S$33 during an ultra peak season,hehehe...my guess is,about double? :D

M1 hotel is one kind of hotel meant mostly for cheongster targeting M1 KTV,so families usually wont book a room there,chances of getting a room there is a bit higher,but still....well...

...and as for Amir,it is a hotel most people i knew wont like to stay in due to their not-so-good service and lacking good ratings,so chances of getting a room there should be alright,afterall...most only need a room with a bed that are able to fit 2 people,hehehe...but one might have to bear with some of their "shits",hehehe...

There are bound to be hotel rooms in Batam regardless of any season,but during an ultra peak,and wishing to stay in one that are good enough on a last min,i believe it will be a challenge.

I learned that during my 1st CNY Batam trip,hehehe...i queued for about 15 mins in the morning to have breakfast at Goodway Hotel (about S$56 at Kaha),let's not forget wifi usage too,the more people staying in a hotel,the wifi bandwidth maybe weaken. Formosa still have room back then,but i CANNOT forget it is selling at S$460,hehehe...Harris Resort normal room going at S$1.2k plus...hehehe... :D

Lesson i learned 3 year plus ago, plan early,book early...am looking forward to CNY 2018 now. Planning....planning...and finalizing on Jan 2018.
