Welcome back,hope you will drop by Batam once a while,hehehe...

wow....now rate very high.....hit 1m rupiah liao.

Very high? 1 million rupiah a pop were only meant for the super duper high expectational ultra rich cheongsters (like my part time boss),hehehe...i still goes mainly for either those below a juta overnight "big fat old ugly indo girls" that looks like some Sillypore celebrities and/or those 1.2 million to maximum 1.7 million rupiah "overnight big fat old ugly PRCs or Vietnam girls" (lowest i saw was an overnight 1 juta Vietnamese girl tho,which my friend got,not me) from some of Batam's mid range KTVs,hehehe... :D

When it comes to batam,its a choice when its comes to paying more or less,hehehe...its a choice when others choose to pay a higher price for a lower services. I simply choose to pay lower. Its just my Apple theory...hehehe...and i can no longer repeat more.

Stll prefer those days when it was between rp4500 to rp5000 to s$1.00....things were cheap. With rp450000 i could book two ceweks. Just browse thru past 18 years ex rate....

Does anyone know if in Malaysia there are "discos" with the same style as in Indonesia? Techno, obat and girls?
What about Kuala Lumpur? Did I miss that, because I don't have the right connection?
My feeling is that, should there be a disco like Newton in some suburb of KL, the people and girls in general would be NOT so friendly with a bule as in Batam, maybe even slightly hostile.
In addition, Malaysian police is probably much less lenient than in Indonesia about drugs (to be clear: I stay away from obat in Batam, I would double the distance in Malaysia).

RETIRE IN BATAM

Hi good day everone...

I almost reaching my retirement age and now considering to retire in Batam. I plan to sell away my 3 room flat and move out of lion city to stay for good.:)

Can anyone here share your experience on retiring in Batam ? I believe there are already many samsters who has semi retire in batam

Do you think a Sing $1300 monthly retirement payout is enough to retire in batam with at least one night cewek booking per week ? If not then how much then is enough to sustain this type of lifestyle ?:D:

I know for sure that with a monthly income of S$1300=RM4000 is more than enough to retire in JB as the cost of living there is still very much cheaper than in Batam althogh JB is still far more developed than Batam.

But in terms of looking for brown sugar, Batam still offers a much better options and chioce...:p

i meanin i speakin as sm1 who no pay more than 1.2jt 4 ovrnite bking ger kind of ppl & my 1.2jt is consider rare occassion durin btm ktv sexsion time...lol.

i tink 18 yrs ago,avg ovrnite ger in sg cost 3x more than btm? i tink today stil cost abt 3x more too,rite? nt counting those who overpay hor...lol :D

This one looks good for people like me who travels via Harbour Bay & Harbour front,hehehe...the difference may be small but if i am going to batam on a weekly basis,i might just enquire more on it. :)

A 3-room flat can definitely brings out a much higher payout than S$1300,hehehe...add that to your regular ones and you might just become a Prince in Batam (i almost say,"King of Batam" but that would be exaggerating).

Yea,you will need some patience if you dont speak their language and you may wish to try weekends,hehehe...more choices. Manage to get it at 1.2 million rupiah,all thanks to the security guard. The grand total was 1.25 million rupiah,50k rupiah was a tip to the guard,hehehe...:D

I think that place might suit him better base on my understanding on what he would usually goes for,hence i recommended it just for him.

Hello All the Sifu :D

This coming chrismas eve 23 ~ 24 2D1N, we are group of 5 going to visit batam. And we already prepare

So would like to seek some advice with all the "Old Bird" here

We have been batam once but that during the time the half of day we follow tour and can't skip the activity. So in the end, when we visit those booking joint already 4pm+ d. and not much choice left so only 2 of our member enjoy, the rest of three eat own hotdog.

This round, we hope that to have better experience and hope all the "expert" here can give us some advise for us to enjoy a short escape from sillypore

Basically, our question as below :

1. Due to late of booking and is holiday season, we will be staying at GGi Hotel ? Hopefully not really will gg
Any recommendation for surrounding?

2. We plan to enjoy our night at KTV? Any recommendation?

3. Any taxi driver to intro? we might need a MPV in order to fit in 5 of us.

4. For the day activity, other than shopping, movie and massage? any other activity recommend? as we will reach early in the morning, so for day time we got quite plenty of time to spend other than go booking joint and look for the partner.

5. What's the best timing for us to visit booking joint ? 1-2pm, as we consider a group of people. It will be quite challenging and hopefully all of us able to get 1.

6. i m climbing + jumping the previous thread from early 2016, and notice that some post mentioned about "EREN" from Sri Kandy. "EREN" is the name of that cewek, so we must 100% to avoid her right?:confused:

Those days S$200 can stay 3D2N at Balai. Even at Btam also boleh with S$200. Even at Sillypore overnite still cant beat Btm or Balai. 24hrs with u at Btm. Those days we always hear ah pek sillyporean bragging away chip here chip there chip everywhere. Now seldom hear them say cheap cheap.:rolleyes:

Don't think it is avalable on regular channel. As Horizon hv very tight control on the ticket.

That's what a friends of mine lives in btm did. HDB flat is his milk cow.
He do monthly turn a around to collect rental and return to btm.

Pls note the small size MTB is good for 2 of us.

I'm curious, for how long he is able to do these turn arounds ?

A friend of mine who took a long break from work did this turn around and was sent to the office for interrogation after the 4th month onwards. He gave up after 6 months in Batam and went back to work in SG again.

For my case, the life span of my flat has already reach about 50 years. Which is the earliest batch of hdb flat in singapore, left a lease or lifespan of forty over years. (99 years lease)

Any flat that has a remaining lease of less than 40 years will have a very low resale value. Wait for en-bloc ? Not possible... as the land of any block of flat that is not require by the garmen will not be selected for en bloc..eventually when the lease reach 99 years, the value become 0.

Therefore left with no better choice but to consider giving up and planning to retire in a "second world" country...:p:D

Retiring in Batam

Batam& JB are the nearest neighbour, each has its own pros & cons. Below are the summary of comparison between the two cities and what they both can offer to a spore retiree :

Cost of living (JB cheaper)
It is a well known fact that JB has a lower cost of living compare to batam. From the weekend horrible traffic jam at cause way to the super long queue experience at customs on both sides, you could tell how sporean like to travel to JB for shopping. There are many products that were sold in spore was actually made in bolehland. (e.g. medicine, food, appliances, etc) Therefore buying exactly the same products in JB in bulk will certainly save you tonnes of money.
Unlike JB, Batam produced/manufacture less local products however majority are still imported. Due to the fact that it is a small island city and the price are strongly influence by nearby spore, the cost tend to be slightly more costly than JB in general.

Public Transport (Batam better)
In terms of public transport around the city area, Batam has an upper hand. From angkot (mini van) to taxi to bus to ojek and due to the fact that Batam city (nagoya/jodoh) is small (2km radius) and more concentrated, it is easier to move around the city. You will never be helpless as batam ojek will always be around offering their service to you.
On the other hand, JB city area is very congested and their bus schedule are always not in time. I once waited for a bus for an hour but never turn up. Cabs are sometimes difficult to call as the city area is more dispersed. The bus route mainly serve the two main road (jalan tebrau and jalan skudai) Therefore those inner small roads or housing estate are not served by bus. In conclusion JB public transport is still very lousy given that it is msia second largest city.

Private Transport (Batam & JB equally good)
For those who prefer to travel by private transport, JB is paradise. Cars are super cheap be it local made or imported, on the average, you buy one car in singapore equals to buying 3 cars price in JB. Furthermore you buy one litre of petrol in spore equal to buying three litres of petrol price in JB. Cars in spore has 10 years life span but cars in bolehland is freehold. Servicing, road tax, insurance, repair, etc of the car are relatively cheaper too. Petrol in msia is the cheapest in Asia due to the fact that Msia is an oil producing country and has surplus for export. 1 litre petrol cost RM2.00-2.20
Whereas for Batam, cars are also cheap e.g toyota Agya cost only sing dollar 13000 because their sale tax and import tax is low. Furthermore the petrol cost about 8500 rp per litre = RM2.70 (slightly higher than JB)

Infrastructure (JB wins hand down)
Over the years, JB has tried to reduce the number of traffic lights by transforming the road into raise level road interchange so that vehicle can continue to travel without having to stop. JB also has a very good road infrastructure system linking the city to the surburbs areas via road interchange, flyovers, underground tunnel, road bridge across rivers, highways, expanded trunk roads providing more lanes, etc. Thus, its highway/road system & infrastructure can be comparable to spore standard. (could be better in future when the dragon invest more in JB)
On the other hand, although i have never drive in Batam, from my observation of Batam infrastructure, it is still very far behind compare to JB. Batam roads are bumpy & not well maintained (many potholes), road lanes not many, traffic quite chaotic, no proper pedestrian walkway or overhead bridge, lag of flyover to ease traffic jam. Road signage are also not very prominent.

Medical facilities (JB offers more options)
Due to its greater land size and bigger population, there are much more private and public hospital and clinics in JB and most of them have very good medical facilities. That is the reason why sporean like to travel to JB and melaka private hospital / medical centres to seek for treatment as it can provide the same standard as what spore can offer. Doctors/surgeons in msia private hospital are very experience as they are overseas trained (US/UK). Govt hospitals medical equipment are also quite advance, medication are relatively cheaper than lion city by a hugh difference.

For info - msians citizens only need to pay RM 1 to get admitted to hospital, the rest of the medical fee is taken care by their garmen.
Although I have not come across or heard of any popular Batam hospitals but friends of mine told me that Batam medical standard and service still lagging behind those in JB.

For info - In order to be admitted into the hospital in indonesia, the patient has to pay upfront a certain amount of medical fee or deposit first. For those who does not have enough money are not allowed to get admitted and treated because indonesia has too many poor people and afraid that after treatment no money to pay the hospital, then the hospital can close shop already..That comes to the point as to why indonesians are very helpful towards each other... When a poor indonesian need to seek treatment in the hospital, the family/relative/neighbours/friend/friend's friend will try to raise the money for the patient to get admitted into the hospital...very touching :)

I always admire the Msian govt. Put aside politic. The government really take care of their citizens. When one grow old, the next big worry is our health. In sillypore, u grow old. Even if u have S$500K it will also be wiped out in no time if u are hospitalize with serious illness. Of course u cant expect the govt to subsidize everything. But Medical is very costly. Thats the least u could do for ur citizens who voted for u. But no....we pay and pay and 70% seems very happy to pay. :mad: No wonder some of my Msian friends refuse to renounce their blue ICs when i asked them to be a Sillyporean. And they still complain so much about their govt. Come and live in Spore...then they know hows life like.

I already bought a house (premium to me) in Johore..price of a 3 bilek peesai burong merpati. Brand new car cost only S$15K....:D Many other goodies i could get in Msia.

It’s already been screening in Batam for about 2 weeks liao..

And then hor, the above are all the available cineplexes in Batam (notwithstanding Nagoya Hill, which is closed for renovations), so you shouldn’t use the word “only”... Hehehe... :p

Oh! Ggi hotel ah...lol,good luck wit tat. i onli recommend ggi hotel 2 my frens who wish 2 watch movie in a pretty much rundwn mall where 70% of the shps weren't open 4 business daily & wish 2 go 2 all highend entertainment pl where if u no hv a sg budget, wil find it expensive...lol

Yea,you will need some patience if you dont speak their language and you may wish to try weekends,hehehe...more choices. Manage to get it at 1.2 million rupiah,all thanks to the security guard. The grand total was 1.25 million rupiah,50k rupiah was a tip to the guard,hehehe...

Those days S$200 can stay 3D2N at Balai. Even at Btam also boleh with S$200. Even at Sillypore overnite still cant beat Btm or Balai. 24hrs with u at Btm.

I always admire the Msian govt. Put aside politic. The government really take care of their citizens. When one grow old, the next big worry is our health. In sillypore, u grow old. Even if u have S$500K it will also be wiped out in no time if u are hospitalize with serious illness. Of course u cant expect the govt to subsidize everything. But Medical is very costly. Thats the least u could do for ur citizens who voted for u. But no....we pay and pay and 70% seems very happy to pay. :mad: No wonder some of my Msian friends refuse to renounce their blue ICs when i asked them to be a Sillyporean. Its 30k at DC mall (didnt even need to bargain),50k at Nagoya Hill Mall..but i didnt pay 50k rupiah for it becos i bought something else in the same shop hence he charge me only 20k after i claim he sells it so expensively. Price is the same for both 1.8m and 3m. Longer than 3m,i am not sure.

Hope that gives you a rough idea how much to pay.

Don't think it is avalable on regular channel. As Horizon hv very tight control on the ticket.
Every time wait very long then Her friend come and only give a few.

Not too sure about the 400k rupiah horizon ferry tickets that were on offer for a limited period at Anshun Travel but there used to be an advertisement at Baba street food court that sells the tickets,and i enquired..it cost around 430k tho (if i didnt remember wrong and with a minimum quota),then again that was couple of months ago somewhere beginning of 2017. My S$48 horizon ticket was paid for,so i didnt really look into it too deeply,hehehe...

That's what a friends of mine lives in btm did. HDB flat is his milk cow.
He do monthly turn a around to collect rental and return to btm.

True...all i need to do is to pay a monthly rental in this hotel below...

...and then set a side S$15 a day for 15 or 29 days. Which will add up to be S$450...the rest that i am left will be for me to play around,hehehe...i am sure i cant do 6 rounds a day for a continuous 30 days during retiring age,hehehe...still not enough? Just spend a little lesser on entertainment then. ;)

All the above were set on just a 3 room HDB rental at the lowest price in a mature area in Sillypore,not counting the CPF payout ,passive income ,investment and personal savings. Most important above everything else...one MUST BE healthy, little bro can stand and function when needed, 2 legs can walk,mind is clear and have minimum chronic disease.

Its is why i am also looking at a healthy lifestyle in Batam too. ;)

Eat good,live good (meaningfully in my own term)...and i dont expect to be like a King,but be worry-free and eventually pass on this life with dignity, should not be a problem if all goes well,hehehe...

Just came back today, Harbour Bay was super packed last night due to weddings at Swiss-belhotel, super hard to find parking. Even Wey Wey Live seafood was full.

Anyway Coffee Town at HB had closed. Disliked them anyway, expensive and sucky food. Their Mie Goreng were full of MSG. I got to buy to 3-legs water from those Mama shop later to down that time.

For my case, the life span of my flat has already reach about 50 years. Which is the earliest batch of hdb flat in singapore, left a lease or lifespan of forty over years. (99 years lease)

Make a guess,a flat that has been over 50 years old,is almost surely to be in a mature estate...and how much rental can it fetch? Rental market no good? Put it up at a lowest renting market price minus another 10%-20%,life goes on. When market gets better,simply kick that guy renting it out of the house and rent it to the next higher paying person.

An acquaintance of mine who lives in Batam today,rented his 2 room flat at S$1700,hehehe...my parent's neighbor is renting his 3 room flat at S$2500...;)

Any flat that has a remaining lease of less than 40 years will have a very low resale value. Wait for en-bloc ? Not possible... as the land of any block of flat that is not require by the garmen will not be selected for en bloc..eventually when the lease reach 99 years, the value become 0.

By far,there was no record of SG Gov chasing ppl out of their flats when the lease reaches 99 years of age,hehehe...i belong to the kiasu kind,so in order to play safe,i worked hard and try my best to be an owner of at least 2 properties in Singapore (dont just count on CPF and investment). Just in case one goose died,the other still live...and if both also died,then its just my fate that i can only pass on to the nether world as a poor man.... *sob*

^ Nasi tumpeng is just yellow rice, and yes usually people serve it when you celebrate something, birthday, grand opening, wedding etc.
Basically imagine having nasi padang but with yellow rice in a conical shape. :D

Accessibility from singapore (JB more accessible & can be access 24/7)

To some of us who stay at the south of spore take about 1.5 hours to reach batam and may take about 2 hours to reach JB. But to those who stay at the north or north west spore may take a shorter time to reach JB than Batam.

Therefore in terms of distance to spore, JB and Batam are almost the same, depending on which part of spore you are staying. However, one thing for sure you can travel anytime to JB as there is always transport 24 hours in case of any emergency, but there is limitation if you want to travel to Batam e.g. you cannot go to batam at midnight as the last ferry to Batam is 9.30pm. In addition JB is definitely more easily accessible to singapore.

I believe many of us have read news about the crime rate in bolehland was terrible especially JB & KL. The robbers in JB are very cruel, will attack the victim before robbing them. That's the reason why many sporean buy property in JB always have gated fencing landed houses or condo guarded and protected by the security guards. (hope the guard dont kena bribe:D)

On the contrary in Batam, robbery and theft cases are very minimum . Some jobless or poor people roaming round the street in Batam tend to "beg" rather than "snatch" unlike happen in JB. Therefore In terms of safety, I would say that Batam is a much safer place to stay or retire when security is concerned.

Massage options & cost (Batam more choices & cheaper)

JB has many health centre located in a 4 & 5 star hotels e.g. Grandbluewave, Newyork, Paragon, Berjaya waterfront, Paris Spa, etc providing massage and sex service. These are the more upmarket massage places which will cost more than those shophouse massage parlour. The massage alone in a hotel health centre will cost about rm 100 whereas in shophouse massage average about rm 65-70 per hour. JB hotel health centre also offers B2B masage at rm 180 which is more expensive than Batam keysha B2B massage.:p

Many towns in JB In the past ten over years started opening massage shops mainly operate in a second storey shophouse unit. e.g. taman pelangi, tmn sentosa, bukit indah, tmn university, etc Therefore in any JB township you stay, you will definitely be served by at least one massage parlour...hehe:rolleyes:

In JB, traditional malay massage can be found in many shophouses too. Risks of being raid (Cheong in JB is very risky)

Whether to retire in JB or Batam depend on your lifestyle you like to live, how frequent you like to cheong, what type of cewek you prefer (brown sugar, yellow sugar, etc), whether you love travelling within the city, your health condition, the need to travel to spore unexpectedly and most important of all is the amount of retirement savings you have... :)

Just came back from a weekend stay at Batam
This hotel is cool and buffet is superbly delicious. Quite a decent spread of buffet.
I seen Ang Mos, Japanese and Koreans there. Opposite the hotel is golf course.
(Nearest Ferry Terminal is Batam Center)

One of the Best hotel i stayed so far after visiting batam for the past 20 years.

Went to M1 KTV at harbourbay around 9pm - 1am
Spend about 3000,000Rp (SGD$300 approx) for 2 towers of Heneiken Beer and quite a few plate of food, tax etc. For me its quite ex because I dont drink beer. Just entertaining some friends who is there with me on their virgin trip.

Many girls to choose. Waiter brought in 30 girls in.
A few chio ones. They spend quite a long time chatting, singing and entertaining us. Surprisingly some sing really well. LOL
Initially just wanna tip them 300000Rp each. But this time round, spoil the market a bit as I dont think i will be visiting batam for next one year. Pay each girl SGD$50. They happy like fuck. Their facial expression is like kenna chai tou liao.

My next target is to patronise M2 KTV.

Also heard from taxi uncle got new joint. Strip show and girls more pretty. But he say price is ex just like singapore.

In sillypore, u grow old. Even if u have S$500K it will also be wiped out in no time if u are hospitalize with serious illness. Of course u cant expect the govt to subsidize everything. But Medical is very costly.

But no....we pay and pay and 70% seems very happy to pay. :mad: No wonder some of my Msian friends refuse to renounce their blue ICs when i asked them to be a Sillyporean. And they still complain so much about their govt. Come and live in Spore...then they know hows life like.

Malaysia has plenty of natural resources e.g. crude oil, oil palm, etc and hugh vast of land area. The landed houses and cars are cheap and affordable. House are freehold and cars can be used without expiry date. A worker in JB who is earning RM3000 per month can afford to buy a landed house and a brand new car without much burden.

Whereas situation in singapore, property are mostly 99 years lease and car has a lifespan of 10 years. Seems like ownership of many things in spore tend to have an expiry date. e.g. heresay graveyard got 30 years lease after that it has to be shifted due to lack of land, data network also got expiry (2G data phase out), analogue TV signal going to be no more in December 2018 (can only receive digital TV)
An executive/manager who is earning S$4000 a month could not even owned a car & a private condo in spore.

Lifestyle in spore (in general) for an average Joe
Work-Life very not balance (difficult to produce baby)
Stay in flat (machiam bird cage)
Take jam packed public transport during peak hour
Long hours of work and high stress (can cause impotent)
Mostly eat out due to insufficient time to cook
Retire late..age 65-75

Lifestyle in JB (in general) on the other hand
Work-Life well balance (got ample time go massage):D
Stay in landed house with garden
Drive own car parked at home car porch
Shorter working hours and less stress
Occasionally eat at home due to more time.
Retire earlier..age 50-65

My very own Nasi tumpeng,but the restaurant ran out of the original rice and i was given Nasi lemak rice,hehehe...16.6k rupiah. I was perspiring all over after i have done eating,hehehe....taste was good.

Do you think u can live longer than your lease?

IMHO...
collect rental is a better choice.

This will be quite subjective as need to be considered on a case by case basis. I am in my 40s and if i live long that 40 over years remaining lease of my flat may not be sufficent till the day I pass away. As my flat is a 3s (smallest of 3 room flat) model and location wise not quite convenient, the rental income could be low and there will be many times when my flat may not be able to be rented out (vacant) or frequent sudden termination of lease by the tenant.

Also need to take other factors into account like higher property tax, agent fees, advertisement fees, minor renovation fee, furnishing costs and the hassle to come back to spore to attend to the house again when the ex-tenant moved out, etc

We have to bear in mind that at the end of the 99 years lease of the hdb flat, there will be nothing left for our beneficiaries...

However if I sold the unit, the lump sum sale proceed (some return to cpf) can be further invest in long-term annuity that generate higher interest maybe (6-7%) that gives you a higher return in the form of monthly payout till exhausted...The CPF portion can also obtain 4-5% if transferred to the special or retirement account. I also have the freedom to use the lump sum cash component of the sales proceed to buy property in batam.

At one time one shop might offer better rate then others. But the next time the others might be better.
Walk the 100m strach if shops ops NH.

Reason for saying so, because I was robbed before in Batam. Two guys (in motorcycle) pointed pen-knife to me and took my wallet. In Jakarta, I was attacked by few guys with clurit (sickle) which put me in hospital for few days, plus stitches on my head. I was not attacked purposely, it was a mistaken identity. thank god, I am still alive.

Like you mentioned, crime can happen when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is almost unanimous among bros here that Batam is safer so long as you use your common sense and not take unnecessary risks. JB is notorious for robbery and snatch theft while KL has the worst taxi drivers in the whole of Malaysia and probably among the worst in the world. You might even get rob in a taxi! Lastly, you see plenty of reports in the newspaper regarding robbery and assault cases in JB & KL but almost unheard of in Batam.

Having said all that, just use your big head when cheonging these places. Small head can be used when you are in a safer place like your hotel room or in a spa.

All the Sederhana outlets’ food quality is pretty much the same regardless of which outlet u go to because all the food is cooked in their main outlet cum central kitchen in Kepri Mall and delivered to the respective outlets.

Big head should always be used, but if one is used to live in the "real world", Batam is a Paradise about safety.

June,its the 2017 Ramadan Month. Upon checking in,i was given 2 Break Fast dinner voucher.

I mean beside just the 2 Break Fast dinner,there was also breakfast voucher to be use in morning too. Consider it a bonus,and saved 89k rupiah. I remember I didn't try the Ramadan dinner last year nor the one before last,so this year thought I should give it a shot.

Exchange rate like all the other Ramadan years,isnt exactly fantastic. I had a feeling that the Indo government didn't like tourist to step into Indoneisa. Exchange rate was about 9500/SGD...and I change quite a bit tho. No matter how high or low it is,i need to buy my stuffs in Batam,hence I changed quite abit in this trip...hehehe...

Surprisingly,during a Ramadan day time...this restaurant is quite crowded (but covered up),hehehe....competition between restaurants nearby were stiff. The staffs were mostly black-faced,and nearly all of them has those don't-fuck-care attitude. All food took at least 35 mins to come to the table.

All the bad points stated didn't exactly bother me since its Ramadan time becos I notice most restaurants at this time of the year were mostly like that,hehehe...so my lesson learned here is , next year Ramadan i will try to eat in a less crowded eateries or restaurants.

My mood however is good during the meal in this Malaya restaurant as the food taste relatively better than the Break Fast meal in Formosa,hehehe....but still,i wont be returning becos the next following day,i found something BETTER and yet cheaper.
