Bro nono after reading through your guides I have some questions, Noob here planning to go 2D1N or 3D2N to Batam and book overnight

If you are planning for 2d1n,avoid over planning. If you are planning for 3d2n,then plan a little more but divide your total itinerary up so that things wont turn out to become a rushing mode.

Example :

Daytime,go shopping for girls before 2pm but have them delivered to your hotel by 5pm-6pm. After which when you still have some time to spare,go explore around like shopping Mall or massage plus lunch/tea break. Avoid planning shopping and massage together. This example is just a draft,not asking you to do the same as there are always other things to do. It really depend on what you are looking for.

Batam pace is slower than Sillypore. What you can do in 10 mins in Sillypore may take 30 mins to complete. Example, hailing a taxi.

1) I remember reading somewhere that Bluebird is the best taxi svc as they are supposed to be professional. Do you recommend a newbie take them or try to bargain with those other taxis?

I do not recommend anything for anyone becos of the meat and poison theory. In fact since you have a choice of both (suggested by yourself above),why not try them all and see which one fits you most? The most suitable is always the best.

Be reminded that if you stay in Formosa Hotel,and if you book via their hotel website or email,you can also request them to go to Ferry Terminal to pick you up and then at the end of your trip,send you back to ferrty terminal again at only 50k; which is the cheapest of all the options you suggested.

2) Since you say the taxi ride is only 5 mins, ever tried walking from the ferry terminal to Formosa?

This one,you will have to understand Batam's traffic culture. Batam don't have many traffic lights,hence the speed for vehicle from point A to point B is faster. 5mins taxi ride can mean 20 to 30mins walk time.

And yes,i walk from Harbour Bay ferry terminal to Formosa Hotel before during the beginning of my Batam trips. Took me around 30 mins for the 1st time when I am new. The 2nd time onward still take me around 20mins. And taxi trip upon boarding until I reach Formosa hotel is only about 5 mins.

My suggestion is for the 1st 2 times,take a taxi or ojek is you are running on solo.

3) I've been trying to reconcile what you said here (http://www.realreviews.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11953&p=154825&viewfull=1#post154825) and what you said here (https://www.sbfsg.net/showpost.php?p=13666573&postcount=32874), seems that the nearest to Formosa Hotel are MM, Indah2 and Happy Massage 8 and maybe Memory which do you think is best?

4) Assuming you can only chose 1 house if I say I want to go to the house with the a) prettiest girls and b) best service girls, which houses would you reccomend?

I do not recommend.

Nowadays, especially over the last 2 trips, i didn't book girls from booking joints. And if I were to assume, i can only say I am unlikely to take girls from booking joints. But if I were to bring my friends to booking joints to get girls,i will play with their mind by bringing them to the joint I think has the oldest,ugliest girls 1st before bringing them to the youngest ones.

My mind has been engraved with :

1. MM is not suitable for newbie (many girls on drugs).

2. Morena series of joints and those kost joints is not suitable for newbies looking for overnight girls.

3. Bunga is Batam most expensive booking joint whereby most of the girls were lau jiao aka old birds. Inexperience ones might get bullied. Their biggest fattest girl cost 1 juta (thats 1.5 years ago price,today may be higher).

4. Link's KTV is the 2nd most expensive booking joint whereby many girls hold very sharp knives (since they are close by to NED). NED = Nagoya Entertainment District

5. Happy 8 has the 2nd most range of girls,from old to young.

6. Permata Indah KTV is a mix of Indah 2 and New Berry girls (together with their own range of girls). And Indah has the most runaway girls. New Berry however has a fairly good mix due to their high turnover of girls (they always have new girls). As for Permata's own girls before the merger before CNY 2017,they were relatively quite zombie-like too. This legit joint currently has the most number of girls. They start at 1pm Batam time.

7. Hawaii range is quite alright except the part where they aren't quite discipline. I notice their ugliest girls also have princess sickness just becos she is young. Papi and mami dont know how to discipline their girls.

8. Sri Kandy can be as expensive as Link's and base my friends's feedback,many were old birds in this trade but still pretty alright base on their experiences.

9. Kupukupu is relatively alright. I prefer to deal with the mami than the papi who usually give me a better price and better quality of girls. (better quality girls mentioned here is define as girls that suit me)

10. Gold Bird,one of my favorite booking joint. It is also my 1st booking joint from the last 3 over years in Batam. I usually book girls from there that were not in the 'fish tank'. Most girls there has a zombie-like-characteristic and w/o GFE.

11. Memory KTV is like Bunga. Just cheaper but note that there are also many old birds there. Its also my plan B.

Of the 11 places mentioned above, there aren't any best or worst booking joints, just the most suitable for me. When i 1st started Batam,if you read my summaries, i aimed for the oldest ugliest girls.

Some of the most important things for myself during booking is :

1. Look for girls that shows interest in me (not 100% foolproof).

2. Tell OKT/s my requirements.

3. Take name card/okt's number from the places I book my girls. (I have at least 5 to 6 name cards from the same booking joint in my bag today)

4. Take girls from the middle range. Last year,i often check their lowest priced girls to their highest ranged ones. I take from somewhere in between.

5. Drop expectation by at least 50% (or more) and if luck is with me, i get 150% (and/or more) back in return. This has happened many times to me.

Note : Younger cutie girls tend to have princess sickness regardless any booking joint. I dont speak bahasa indo or malay. And keep in mind that my basic guides were written base on helping newbie survive batam for the 1st few times.

All of the above were written base on my own experience. Other bros and readers's experience may varies.

Anyway,the basic to go Batam is simple,hehehe...its almost already imprint at the back of my brain.

For myself (if I am new), which is also written on the guide,i will do as below...

In Singapore :

1. I will book a ferry ticket from Horizon Ferry heading to Harbour Front (Singapore) to Batam Harbour Bay (do a google search for horizonfast ferry online booking). Take a look at their available ferry timing.

Please do not worry about booking ferry ticket from their website as no upfront payment is required (so no credit card or nets needed). If you happen to change your mind,just redo it all over again.

2. On the day of my trip,head over to the Horizon Fast ferry counter on the 3rd floor of Harbour front (ferry boarding is on the 2nd floor) about 45mins (weekday) or an hour (weekend) in advance to make payment.

1 Maritime Square #03-47, Harbourfront Centre, Singapore 099253

3. i will be issued a boarding pass and a return ticket upon payment (cash only). Keep the return ticket as I only need it on my way back to Singapore. The boarding pass is all I will need to board the ferry from Singapore to Batam. (I learned a lesson never to keep my return ticket inside my passport becos the Batam side's custom officer stole it from me before)

4. I head to 2nd floor to board my ferry to Batam Harbour Bay.

In Batam Harbour Bay.

1. The same old procedure,head to have my passport chop. Step out from the arrival hall,the 1st thing I will do is walk around...look for the Horizon Ferry counter at Harbour Bay which is about 2 mins walk from the arrival hall.

2. Take out my return ticket,get the boarding pass to go back to Singapore Harbour Front. I do this 1st upon my arrival to Batam becos I kiasu. I worry I may not be able to return back to Singapore if the date/time where I chose to return back ,ferry seats may be taken.

3. After settling all the above,i head to either grab a taxi or ojek to head to Formosa Hotel. And I never take the 1st taxi/ojek driver who approach me.

Once I reach Formosa hotel or any other hotels,i check my room's aircon,toilet,door locks,wifi and lightings (any problem,change room). The rest,i simply follow what I told you earlier.

...and once in Formosa hotel,i wont have to worry anymore regarding provision shop,MP,KTV and overnight booking girls anymore. I usually advise my friends to walk around the perimeter of the hotel to get a feel of the hotel on their 1st day and to grab some toiletries.

Ground floor : Provision shop (front door turn left,walk straight and turn left again..then walk straight) They sell CDs.

Alishan KTV : Hotel 4th floor (opens at 7pm,has booking girl too but cost more) Do book room in advance if you plan to sing there. Hotel members has some discount (cant remember,i think its either 20% to 30% off but discount not applicable for girls).

King Massage : Hotel 4th Floor (100k/hour,can go to your room to massage but need to bargain hard for special service/s or I will be chopped. Do not be afraid to reject special services becos there will always more choices elsewhere) Hotel members get 10% off. Membership is free.

Shopping : Behind Formosa is Citywalk Mall (2 mins walk). Turn right from Formosa,i see Lucky Plaza. In between lucky plaza and Formosa hotel straight down 5 mins walk is Nagoya Hill Mall (has a theater).

In Batam,some hotels can really have no taxi at all. So the security guard or their bell boy have to dial a taxi for me,which can sometime make me wait for an extra 10 to 20 mins.

I can order a meal from a zhi char road store,the 1st dish can sometime turn up 30 mins later,hehehe...

I take a taxi from point A to point B,it can take 5 mins,but when I come back from point B to point A,i can end up using 20mins (and the reason is not becos of heavy traffic but of the way they structure their roads).

I walk into a massage shop,the moment I start getting the massage can be up to 15mins or more upon my 1st step into their shop.

What I am saying is, do not use Singapore efficient way of time planning to plan in Batam. You may end up getting piss off. Simply just go patiently slow and relax.

make sure your ferry departure time is more then an hour before any "arrival" time of the cruise.
And half hour after the "departure" time of the cruise.

Why need to give more time for the arrival cruises?

The reason...
All these big cruises came in to HBF via west keppel fairway. They hv to along-side with the bow facing Labrador.
As they can't manoeuvre within the narrow channel (Strait of Singapore).
Tug boats are used to help them to position at the eastern end of west Koppel gateway(in front of Labrador) and reverses into harbour.
They why take more time.

As for departure., the vessel hv already facing out. So less time required for them to move out.

For your Arrival to HBF
Due to the diff in time zone(1h) and the travelling time fr BTM to HBF (1h)
You hv to depart BTM 3hr before the cruise HBF Arrival.
E.g. if you see a cruise scheduled to arrive HBF at 18:00 (singapore time) you departure time fr BTM should not later then 15:00WIB.
If not., you are not only been delayed on the sea. (Even you can clear the immigration faster) You might be seeing long que at the custom scanner.

In my SOP, I always get my boarding pass to return to Singapore right on my arrival, immediately after exiting the immigration.

This is important, not only to avoid to have the bad surprise to find all seats booked when I want to depart (this happened on my FIRST VISIT to Batam; I could find a seat only because someone did not show up; I was missing my flight from Changi! :eek:), but also because this allows to save significant time on the day of departure.
With my boarding pass in my hand, I can leave Formosa 45 minutes before departure time (I am always very busy on my last day, guess why... :D).

Note: I travel with a big luggage)

NO. The standard fare for a taxi from Harbour Bay to Formosa is 50k, period. That's what I pay.
Hard bargainers with experience on site can definitely achieve 40k, but I don't push for saving 10k (taxi also pay the entrance toll to be there).
I NEVER paid anything more than 50k from HB to Formosa or from Formosa to HB in my life (maybe 25-30 visits overall? I am really not sure)

SOP:
- When I exit the door near the Horizon Ferry checkin office, a guy approaches me with "Taxi Sir?". I reply: "Yes thank you!".
- The guy literally runs to the car and comes back driving, or calls a driver waiting in the lot.
- The driver takes my luggage (1 bag 25kg). I say "Lima puluh ya" (just to be sure), the driver nods, and there we go, both happy.
A few times I did not even say "50k", but I had no problems on my arrival to Formosa when I paid 50k. Everyone knows it's the standard price. Taxi drivers understand immediately if one is a regular or permanent resident in Batam. Sure, if the driver understands there is allowance to get more, he will avidly try to catch the opportunity.

Don't disagree with the "market price" for trip between Harbour Bay and Formosa, but that seems to be the market price for most 2 points travel in Batam. Like, 50k is also the price they asked for trips between Formosa and Windsor, Formosa to BCS. And, in my case, Batam Centre to Formosa. There's this once we are just going from Gold Bird to Nagoya Hill, and the driver quoted us 50k too, though another driver 5 steps away quoted us 40k.

So, ya, there really is no strict market price. Just as the drivers will always try to get more, we can counter for less and walk off with a smile if price is not acceptable. It makes sense for Black Page to get the first 50k driver, but I won't. If I'm paying 50k from Batam Centre to Nagoya, why would I pay 50k from Harbor Bay to Nagoya when the former is about 3x the distance. I'll just hop on an ojet for 6k from Harbor Bay if I'm alone.

Reach Harbour Bay,change a bit of Sin$ to IDR, get a sim card (10k to 50k price),dial the bluebird number (they will tell you where to wait for them),or if you have more than one person going Batam,sharing ANY kind of taxi service shouldnt cost you much (i will take a 20k ojek if i am alone but if i have more than 1 men with me,i will take a taxi ,paying between 40k to 50k). But i will hit Harbour Bay's Horizon ferry counter (to get my return boarding pass) before getting a taxi tho.

Feel free to recce around Harbour Bay a bit,one end to other end within the sheltered area wont take you more than 15mins. Believe me,more than 90% of the humans there can speak some level of broken english. Its aftreall a touristy place.

The happy hour had been cut short to 11am to 3pm from 5pm. And, price increased too. After Happy Hour discount, net price before other addons (these are not discount-able) is 256k rp.

For the facilities, 1.5 hour massage and lj massage, 256k is still an affordable price. Before the increase, the net price is 234k.

Good idea. I always do this with the mini bus drivers. Alight and push the money (I gave 6k) to them and walk backwards against the traffic. Learned this from Piglet (taking mini bus) and BFOMES (spelling might be wrong) on the money part.

I did have a bad experience with a taxi driver regarding fare though. To be fair to him, I'm pushing it cos we had 5 paxes and he's asking for just 20k more. Upon arriving to Batam Harbour Bay ferry terminal,already can see a counter that sells sim card for internet (after they scan your luggage).

I just took a taxi from Harbour Bay to Formosa provided by the hotel,cost me 50k for 2 way. Meaning i pay 50k,the driver brings me from any Batam ferry terminal (airport too) to the hotel and then end of my trip,they brings me back to the same terminal again.

Total cost 25k each way...hehehe...and i am almost definitely safe and sound,no need to worry at all.

Taxi drivers were like wolves in Batam,but they are also the most resourceful people. How to tap their knowledge w/o getting chop by them is another story altogether. Hence i always advise bros who knew me to bargain down...and get used to those bargaining culture. And always have alternative/s,in case of an all else fail situation.

In Batam, Bluebird cabs are banned from picking up passengers in all ferry terminals, shopping malls and other establishments. Don't ask me why, it's just how the local taxi mafia operate and even a major operator like Bluebird has got to comply. If you call for a Bluebird to pick u up at Harborbay, you will need to walk out of the Harborbay complex entrance, which is about 5-7mins walk from the ferry terminal.

Silvercab taxi is the only metered taxi operator that is allowed to pick up passengers from anywhere and everywhere. You will need to have a local number though. Silvercab hotline is 0778-461-000.

Just reject them nicely and if they still persist,ignore them. Receptionist will keep your passport upon check in and there is a safe where you can keep your spare money there. The rest (handphone,note book etc) you might wish to be extra alert and always latch your door when you are in room (i do that in my every oversea trip).

The usual advise here is always keep your money (and valuable) with you whenever you are out of room,otherwise it goes to the safe. Some bros like myself will keep some spare cash under the bed,but i dont do that anymore becos wherever i hide my cash,i keep it to myself and not share in a public forum.

There is no clear guidelines on this and my advice is try not to travel to places where drugs are notorious.

I noticed those plane arrived from notorious cities/countries will be cordoned off and screened on arrival...meaning asked to scan all bags and go thru metal detector...:)

Since I traveled mainly Vietnam which has strict drug laws and death penalty...the arrival was not cordoned off and no screening necessary...:)

Also try not to look intoxicated upon arrival and dress smart casual...:)

In Batam, Bluebird cabs are banned from picking up passengers in all ferry terminals, shopping malls and other establishments. Don't ask me why, it's just how the local taxi mafia operate and even a major operator like Bluebird has got to comply. If you call for a Bluebird to pick u up at Harborbay, you will need to walk out of the Harborbay complex entrance, which is about 5-7mins walk from the ferry terminal.

Silvercab taxi is the only metered taxi operator that is allowed to pick up passengers from anywhere and everywhere. You will need to have a local number though. Silvercab hotline is 0778-461-000.

Ordered 2 drinks and drank slowly. By the time it was 12 am plus, still no sign of any crowd though. Decided to call it a day at Titanium. Maybe it's a Friday, or maybe it's still early. Maybe we'll revisit the place some other time.

Hi all, recently just recovered the password for my account and will share on what I experienced over in Batam.

Room is pretty big and service is good. Relatively new but they could have done a better job of cleaning the bathtubs.

Batam is NOT EASY. I have no doubts in NOT recommending Batam to any of my friends, unless they are prepared to be patient and most likely disappointed on their first trip.

Batam is not Bangkok, does not have anything like Geylang. There is no standard "service level", nothing is guaranteed.
Yet, there are jackpots behind the corner. To be eligible for a jackpot, one has to be patient, learn the ropes, accept fails looking forward to the next challenge, maybe a success.

Yea,what I learned so far in most Asian 3rd world country is,if the custom immigration wish to penalize anyone with any items,even painkiller like Panadol (painkiller)or perhaps even prescription drugs were prohibited. Hilariously,I remember 30 over years ago when I 1st step foot into Indonesia,Chinese newspaper,cassette music and video tapes were some of those prohibited items.

And in some other parts of Indonesia ,their authorities were still holding those mindset which I mention above. If the immigration custom from any 3rd world Asia country wish to "play" anyone, there isn't really much anyone could do.

Just an example,Tanjong Balai (I read in that thread that some 1st time tourist carrying drugs like Panadol ,condoms and Men's supplement were held up). Batam custom is still considerably quite lenient from my perspective ,well...unless someone actually plan to bring in an entire piece of human-size sex doll thru,hehehe... :D

Hehehe...its like my 1st school in Batam. Its more like a confident training ground when I 1st started Batam. Once I am used to Batam's culture from thereon, i became almost addicted with Formosa and set it like a command center (HQ).

With nearly everything a cheongster need all under one roof within Formosa Hotel (radius of 5 mins walk), how could anyone even fail during their 1st and 2nd trip in Batam. Some of the failure I notice so far over the last 3 year plus in here (and other sites) were those who has held high self-esteem and have unrealistically high expectation.

Batam spa is modifiable. Batam spa is way quieter. Batam spa can be considered cheaper too. But Batam spa has got no free meal and the meals in their menu can cost quite a bit.

If I like many people sharing the same pool with me,i would also choose JB spa (its bigger than most Batam spa). But I prefer to go at the right time to have the smaller hot pool in Batam spa all for myself,hehehe...not forgetting the O2 room.

Full disclosure. I'm in pretty advanced talks to takeover a massage joint in Batam.
